  1. Is this totally smooth with no lumps? It doesn't have texture? May be an option Totally smooth. Mixes up really easily. Texture like milk.
  2. He has been a bit out of character the last few days (rocking and staring into space, restless and aggressive/agitated) That sounds like hepatic encephalopathy.
  3. I used Pediasure for my sick dog. Heaps of people use it in a Yahoo group I am a member of. It is kids version of Ensure. I got it from Chemist Warehouse. http://www.pharmacyonline.com.au/pediasure-balanced-nutritional-powder-vanilla-flavour-400g/
  4. Mmmm no harness.... I would feel more secure with a well fitting flat collar than with a martingale, in terms of it not coming off.
  5. For a lead go to your local horse shop and ask if they have any natural horsemanship leads in marine rope. They often don't have a clip but have a loop at the end instead. If it can hold a horse it should hold a husky :)
  6. Hugs. It would be hard to get over something like that. What about a harness? Would that make you feel safer?
  7. Mornington Peninsula is a long way from Coldstream. I know the distance. I asked if it was too far for the OP. I regularly go from that area to the Mornington Peninsula.
  8. Is Coldstream too far for you? They (Animal Aid) have volunteer doggie walkers.
  9. I pay around $45 for 12 tins. Yep is wet food. Hills told me to substitute K/D kibble for the L/D kibble. I was in my vets today and the L/D I ordered still hasn't arrived so I assume it is still out of stock.
  10. They said that they would order stuff in for people, so if they don't have the food you want just let them know.
  11. The L/D kibble isn't available at the moment. They had some problems with it. You would need to get the tins.
  12. I saw Black Hawk today in a new shop in Bayswater, Victoria. Just opposite Bunnings on Canterbury Rd.
  13. A new pet supply shop has opened up in Bayswater Victoria. It is on Canterbury Rd, opposite Bunnings. I dropped in today and grilled the manager about selling pets. He just has fish in there. It is an independent store. They have Black Hawk and Earthborn, as well as the usual stuff. I picked up some Pro Pac dog food which I haven't seen in Victoria before. They are having an opening day special tomorrow if you are in the area. Discounts and activities. (Disclaimer: I am not connected to this store in any way)
  14. Amber is on Metronidazole and a diuretic. She loves the L/D! First food she has really liked. Poppy happily steals it too.
  15. We hope the meds will work too Jules ! No she didnt suggest the Hills L/D food actually. Renae has that in the past for upset stomachs. I might bring it up with her when i check with her about the milk thistle, as i have no idea when i find it, how much to actually give her of it? What us SAMe? It would be a good idea to reduce the work the liver has to do, which is why the Hills L/D would be good. SAMe is an amino acid which helps with liver issues.
  16. That doesn't sound great. Hopefully the medicine will work. The other thing that is supposed to be very good for the liver is SAMe. Did they suggest Hills L/D food?
  17. Interesting that she has that choice, I thought most councils would have the power to seize and destroy in that sort of situation? I would have thought so too. When my friend's Kelpie was killed whilst on the lead in an unprovoked attack by a loose, larger dog on the Central Coast a few years ago, I was stunned when the rangers finally tracked the dog and its owner down, that my friends were given a choice of whether or not the dog would be euthanased. The dog was always loose in the street according to local residents at the time. My friends chose not to request the dog be put to sleep. I feel that left other people and their pets at risk which I think is unacceptable. I couldn't believe the council didn't act to prevent further attacks. The ranger made it my choice too following an attack I thought it was very unfair to put it on me.
  18. Is her mouth ok now Jules? Even something like a tooth infection can put the liver enzymes up.
  19. I would just make sure that the pen is in a safe spot so that if he does get out that there is nothing that he can hurt himself on or destroy!
  20. I really recommend Pediasure for dogs that aren't wanting to eat. It is a kids version of Ensure. It really helped get Amber through the stage were she wasn't eating. I got mine from Chemist Warehouse.
  21. On the flip side Amber's readings weren't that high. Her ALT was 268. Even her bile test wasn't super high. I already had an accidental ultrasound at that stage showing a problem though. Accidental because they were actually looking at her heart at the time but the liver was so abnormal that they noticed it. Really hard to say what is going on with your dog Jules. Dogs with liver conditions tend to not eat though. Was she having the trance/tremors after eating?
  22. We used to have one at dog school and that seemed to get a fair bit of use. Maybe check out the local dog schools.
  23. That is because some people are extremely tedious and just churn out the same crap constantly.
  24. Why does Steve Courtney recommend and use prongs then Aidan.......is he not experienced or competent enough with behaviour modification, particularly positive reinforcement, extinction procedures, functional negative reinforcement, classical conditioning and classical inhibition to have an informed opinion to exclude their use from his training regimes?? Totally irrelevant to the thread.
  25. Why are you all talking about prongs and e-collars? Surely a electric cattle prod would be much more appropriate in this situation.
