  1. Do you want it over with? No I don't think it is wrong. I don't think he has much time left so it wouldn't be too early. I wouldn't be doing chemo on a pet that had cancer in the liver. Once it is in those organs it is just not good. You might give him a couple of months more but I doubt you would get years longer. Ii just had to make this decision with a cat. I deliberately picked a vet that I knew wasn't going to force treatments on to me and would honestly consider the cat's well-being. Some vets like to keep doing treatments beyond what it fair on the pet and the owner. A lot of vets will not say that it is time btw. Mine did thankfully. Not one person here is going to think that you have done the wrong thing if you give your dog his wings today. Even if you leave it a bit too late, well that is understandable too. It is never nice. It never gets easier.
  2. I think you will see a sign MsDani because of your dog's condition. It might be very soon now or it might be a week away. With both of my older dogs it was unmistakable. I did have a close friend help me the second time because I was concerned I wouldn't see because I didn't want her to go.
  3. Got the roll today. Not as stinky as the Raw complete stuff. Isn't as icky either. I'm a vego and have struggled a bit feeding the Raw pack stuff, delicate little thing that I am. Dog ate it but she does pretty much eat anything. My main feedback would be price point. For your average supermarket shopper (as in not nutty dog person) it is pretty expensive at $5+. The 4Leggs roll was $2+ at the same size. So I think you will struggle selling it in supermarkets.
  4. Yep will be fine for your other dog, assuming she isn't allergic to any ingredients. Try the tinned version.
  5. MsDani have you tried feeding Hills Prescription L/D food. It is for dogs that have liver issues. It isn't going to fix your dog obviously but it is easier for the liver to process which might make him feel a bit less sick.
  6. The not eating is usually the final confirmation for me that it is time. Hugs MsDani.
  7. Try the Yarra Glen Hunt Club. They have a website.
  8. I've found that I have had different levels of reactions to different individual animals. Never noticed any problems with my DSH cats but have a lot of problems with my Birmans. My white horse - no problems, my bay horse and I had rashes from his saliva.
  9. What is the rest of claireybell's family eating I wonder?
  10. My Barf one is wearing well. I am pretty easy on things though. I did have to replace the heating element after I had the bath just over a year. Think it was something annoying like one year and 2 days. I was not impressed with the customer service I received at this time. I would recommend buying a bath that is driving distance away in case you have issues with it at a later date.
  11. We all know this. It has been done to death in her other threads. Actually I think everyone has been amazingly polite on the matter!
  12. Washing the dogs will help. Also wash hands etc straight after patting. The hives might settle down as she gets older but she will probably develop other allergies like hayfever. They all seem to go together.
  13. Your dog sounds like me! I had something like 42 positive reactions to food and plants etc. The only thing I had a negative reaction to was coffee, which I don't drink!! When you get that many reactions you really can't do a heap about it. I avoid the things that cause a nasty reaction. I would feed him stuff from the third list.
  14. Hehe, that's what I'm hanging my hat on... that if we get let in there will be an immediate place because people aren't turning up! You will need to wait until the next foundation class starts. :) It used to be a 4 week class.
  15. Yes you would get into agility at Croydon if you already had titles. Same as if you had your CCD etc. You would most likely be asked to do the foundation and equipment courses rather than going straight into the trial class, unless you had been going to all the Greg D sessions. The obedience standard to pass the Basic obedience test is below CCD btw. It sounds heaps easier to pass the walk-in assessment than to pass the Basic obedience test though which is a little unfair.
  16. Agree! I see so many people kicking up about having to pass the obedience level that Croydon requires. But then I see people like Geraldine taking each new puppy through all the levels.
  17. Geraldine is great. She taught me at Croydon. She is a nice instructor who is also one of the best competitors in Australia - a winning combination. For Croydon you will either be assessed individually to see if you can go into agility depending on what you have been doing with your dog or they might want you to go into the obedience classes first. There is sometimes a short wait to get into the agility classes. They also hold classes on a week night. The classes are very good.
  18. There should be a set criteria. ie can sit stay for 10 seconds, llw up and back, doesn't eat the instructor during greeting etc. People in a class normally know when someone is doing well and have nailed it. The major problem I can see with this method is keeping up the spirits of the people that take a while to get to the standard.
  19. I HATE assessments! They seem to pretty much freak out most people. I assess the class that I take and everyone passes. They tell them this but without fail on assessment day they all turn into crazy people due to nerves. The other side is some people fluke a pass on the day. I think the instructor putting people up as they are ready is heaps better.
  20. As a border collie owning, volunteer instructor with no formal qualifications at a public club I am feeling rather depressed about instructing, lol. All my old pupils look pleased to see me so I hope I didn't do too crap a job!
  21. It has certainly put me off fostering. And I think I would only foster one at a time if I had no pets of my own.
  22. A friend used to foster. One of her foster dogs killed her own dog, a little poodle that she did UD with. She was a pretty experienced dog trainer. Very sad.
  23. Just to let the herding folks know that the Opal Motel in Leongatha is now dog friendly if you are heading to herding trials at Nyora.
  24. I did all this research when I went to pick Poppy. It kind of all went out of the window though as she picked me! Every time I reached down for the next puppy, there she was. She reached me first out of the bunch of pups and didn't leave me for the whole time I was there. That has translated into a bit of separation anxiety but she is super loyal and super obedient and wants to work with me the whole time.
