  1. Three of my dogs regularly play together and, for toy breeds, they make a heck of a noise   Two are just low mouthy grunts and growls, whereas the third barks, growls, yelp, yips - he has me in fits.
  2. Well done, LG. I totally appreciate how difficult it can be to speak up at the time. The grooming place I go to (literally 50 metres down the street) looks like a bomb hit it most of the time, but the people are very very experienced and love the dogs, so I keep going. I have commented from time to time on how dark it is (not where the dogs are washed though) and they have lamps trained on the grooming tables, but generally you practically need a torch to reach the counter LOL.
  3. Michelleva, she is coming around very very quickly and, in your position, I would not be doing a thing about her pacing and panic. You've had her a couple of days and already it is subsiding. Try to relax and she will too :D :D . Barking on day 3? Oh dear, oh dear - LOL LOL. Some of the dogs I've rescued or fostered have taken weeks to utter a sound. Very generally speaking (because lots of others will have different experiences) dogs like to be where their owners are or at least have them in sight. I have 5 little dogs and I might pop into the study on my own to check on the computer, get waylaid by that dreadful DOL forum , look around after 1/2 hour to see four or five little dogs curled up in various places.  I also have an elderly boy whom I call my velcro boy because he follows me everywhere. So, I think you are doing just fine with Bonnie.
  4. I'm afraid I don't understand why you didn't say anything about Tempeh, LG, despite your response to Rozzie . I still think you should say something and tell them why you won't be going back.
  5. LOL, they look as though butter wouldn't melt . . . . . . .
  6. Sorry, but I totally disagree with this. I think you'd create a huge problem with Bonnie thinking she HAD to be with you and what about Georgia? A dog doesn't need to be his or her person every second of the day, even those who, like Bonnie, need a lot of reassurance. In my book, whilst you give the dog plenty of love and caring and cuddles if and when the dog can accept them, you also give it space and the ability to learn that it is safe even when you aren't in view or aren't around.
  7. She sounds a remarkable girl, Dave73. You must be both very happy at her progress and concerned that she can tackle the everyday life so well. You probably thought you had a relaxing period of adjustment
  8. She is beautiful, Michelleva. Your Sheltie might think mummy has come back  Have a wonderful time with her; I am sure you will give her, I mean find her, a wonderful home. :D :D
  9. LG, I would be reporting that place (but to whom, I wonder). I would be telling them of my concerns about how dirty it looked, how long Tempeh stayed in the tub, and your distress about how the cat was washed ......... and that you were never going back.
  10. Dont you wish wrinkles on us looked so endearing. Well, I don't know about you, but me . . . . . . . . . . . .
  11. OMG, K. You'd better watch Neko when Stans Mum passes through. Not only a gorgeous photo of her with the soft ball, but highlighting the wrinkles as well.
  12. As are a lot of people - which is said without criticism, just a fact. If the dog is already biting, I rather feel that there might be tragedy waiting in the wings for this family.
  13. Sadly, Dave73, you will have to prepare yourself for some (probably a lot) negativity . It is part of the human psyche to want to transfer their own feelings onto others with very little understanding or care of what they are doing. When this happens, get your equilibrium back by popping into this thread to see what genuine and understanding dog lovers dog think and feel about what you have done   . You have given your Jazz the opportunity to continue to lead a happy, balanced, loved dog's life. But because Jazz's difference is so obvious, you are going to be presented with this for the rest of her life. You sound well equipped to deal with it
  14. It can be so very sad and so very frustrating. RIP little Skye. Everything Shiny gave you love to the very end and beyond.
  15. LOL - it was great to finally meet you too Rachel. I could have done without the chocolates I think they were opened by the time I turned onto Woodville Road. I really have to say that Teddy is such a lovely dog. We took him with us for the drive, and he has already met his new family. What a good traveller: he just say in the back seat (hooked in with clip to seat belt attachment in case anyone is worried :D ) and didn't utter a word until we arrived - and the same on the way home. I didn't realise until you mentioned the different coats of the others that he was one of several puppies rescued, Rachel. The other went to Tdierikx, if I recall correctly. I'd love to hear how they are all going and whether they are as lovely as Teddy. Any news on them, T?
  16. Such an honour to be in a beautiful tribute, Ams. Askari was so beautiful . My deepest sympathies for your loss.
  17. Oh, so soft and ready to have someone's head buried in his coat
  18. Love that expression! I've never heard it. So that is my something learnt for today   And it will be stored away ready to use.
  19. Fantastic news, Dave73. They sure are remarkable creatures, our canines. I hope you all enjoy the coffee ritual.
  20. Oh such love The moment I saw Odie in the crate, I was going to ask why LOL. My nail clipping has always left a lot to be desired: too long or too short ouch!!
