Thanks. I have to say that my dogs are all pretty laid back when I leave them and I regularly leave one or more when I go walking. I tend to take out three, come home, drop off Danny and if Jeune is at the gate, I collect her and go off with them again. That said, I am fascinated by her suggestion that you tell them what is going on, where you are going, what you are doing, etc etc. One thing I thought of, is that by doing this, you are more relaxed and they can pick up on this. Whether we register it or not, if we have dogs we know can be stressed when we are not around, when we are preparing to leave the house, we can be sending out stress signals to the dogs. It will be interesting to see whether the new regime keeps them calm and settled.

Confronting An Owner Mistreating His Dog
Loving my Oldies replied to GSDowner's topic in General Dog Discussion
Andrew, perhaps start a new topic - LOL. I think you were doing fine. I have a rolled up newspaper too -- for the noise. I whack it on the table or the railings of the deck. Actually, holding it up gets the right reaction LOL. Giving a large solid dog a bit of a whack on the btm to distract him isn't all the bad, it is when a dog is being kicked or hit just because the owner is angry is not on. OTT = Over The Top. An excessive reaction to something. -

LOL, lots of times, I'd like to kick someone. Particularly if they were kicking a dog. I do understand where you are coming from, but some people only understand one language. -
Sounds truly fascinating, PS. Don't listen to Noisy, except for the T-Touch idea.  I had a phone session with Amanda de Warren when I had Sari, I was so desperate to try to help that poor little dog realise she no longer had to fight or bit. Sari shut her out. I'd love to have a visit with Heather as she sounds exceptionally intuitive. From what you say about Wolf, I can imagine her turning her back; she wasn't going to have anyone look into her soul and reveal her secrets to mummy - LOL.

You kicked an old man to the point of knocking him down?! Teenager at the time or not I find that as disgusting as belting the dog. To a teenager, anything over 25 is old. -

SSM, I think you are being too too generous with these sorts of people. I've seen it and I've seen their faces (not often thank goodness): just uncontrolled anger to my eyes. -

Good for you. One puppy saved and that is worthwhile. Unfortunately the guy probably went to the pound (or the boozer) and bought another poor dog. Yes, it is horrible. I told a fellow off for hitting his dog (a lovely cattle dog0 and he threatened me and told me it was his dog and he would do what he liked with it. Unfortunately that is the attitude with those sorts of people. The dog is their possession to vent their anger and frustrations. They probably do the same to their children and women in their lives. -

Whew! That's a relief because my first thoughts were what Persephone said. Agree with towels or old flannellette sheets to make belly bands. Good luck. Time. Will. Pass. Very. Quickly  -
New Foster Carer Required For A Whippet X

Of course we are going only by photographs, but Poppy seems to have much more muscle definition in her front shoulders than DaVinci. **sigh** what a beautiful dog. -
I'm a hopeless photographer, but had to take this just a moment ago. If you scroll in very closely to Tamar's face, you will see her lower front canines sticking out. I've had Tamar from mid 2004 when she was about six months old. She still looks and acts like a puppy. As she is the youngest, I still call her the puppy of the group  .

Advice For My Sister - Issue With Neighbour
Loving my Oldies replied to Trisven13's topic in General Dog Discussion
WOW, I'll bet she was fun to live with Trish, the neighbour may be being just vexatious, but you won't know until you know what happens when the dogs are left alone. I remember a long long time ago, a DOLer was told that her dogs were being really really noisy during the day and didn't believe it . . . . . . until she was shown a video  . -

Both the above. Plan B, any idea how DaVinci is going these days? His name is so appropriate, but it should have been prefixed by "His Royal Dogness" - he absolutely has the WOW factor. -
... with Steve and her husband? Oooh, now that's a thought. Might just be put off by the doggy sighs though.

Forget the b***dy dog sighs! I want some "adult cuddles" :D :D

In the past month, I have had two of my dogs diagosed with URTI. Firstly Jeune who seemed to recover very quickly on AB and then Bunter who after nearly five days of AB is still coughing, though no nearly as frequently. This evening, I went downstairs and found three sicks in the back yard and I am 100% sure it came from Jeune as she is they only one I have seen chewing on the violets (not native, but they grow self seeded around the place) and there was a lot of violet greenery in the sick. And just a little while ago, I heard her doing a bit of a raspy cough Jeune is large Chihuahua of approximately 10 years of ago. Bunter is a Pomeranian x Corgi (I think) of approximately 10 years of age. My uncertainty is because they were both adopted from pounds. Naturally if Jeune isn't well tomorrow, I will take her to the vet, but just wondered if anyone else has had this experience.

HarperLee on this forum has a dog with DI. I believe her dog Kisho is on constant medication. Send her a PM and I am sure she would be happy to tell you her experiences.

What a glorious looking dog Inka was. Does Keesha look like her? Your memorial was lovely, Inka3095, and moving. When the time is right (whether for you or your mum) a dog will find you. Goodbye Inka.

 Don't take any notice of him, mum. Those photos are priceless.
