Where to find a SWF rescue in QLD?
Loving my Oldies replied to Little Gifts's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
They have a couple of gorgeous ones right now - one called Claudette -
I saw this on FB and I think someone has put up their hand. I was about to and I saw a post saying “have sent a pm” or word to that effect. I’ll keep a watch on it as I am next door to Thornleigh, but a long way from Kemps Creek - haven’t been that way for quite a while since my helping and rescuing days.

Can I find out the pedigree of my rescue GLAD?
Loving my Oldies replied to Leo Axton's topic in General Dog Discussion
First thing I thought of was if there were any tattoos. Apart from that, unless Blacktown Pound could put you in touch with the previous owners which is highly unlikely (huge privacy issues), I think your dog’s background will forever remain unknown. I’ve adopted many dogs from pounds over the years and it is human nature to wonder about where they came from, what were their lives like, how they came to be lost, what they were like as puppies, etc etc. As some of them have been in pretty poor condition, sometimes it is better not to know as we could end up in prison, IYKWIM -
I actually think ramps are better than stairs. Unfortunately, I don’t have the space for one . I did buy one without measuring first - stupid. Just could not make it work LOL. I have a ramp outside from the deck down to the back yard.

Photos of doggy stairs. Sorry about the size of the last one - can’t work out how to change. IMG_0570 by Cynthia Waters, on Flickr IMG_0571 by Cynthia Waters, on Flickr

The height of my bed is 52cm so virtually all of the ones available were of no use. I finally found a set at Innovations which were perfect ....... for going up LOL. They have never been used for going down. The dogs still launch themselves off the bed, but I try to forestall that and lift them down as much as I can. If you have the room, I would be inclined to make a set/have a set made to order, or better still, have a ramp. Despite being the right height, the stairs I have are steep and the individual steps are quite narrow. Another positive for them is that they fold down and then I just slide them under the bed. I’ll get some pix and post them.

Just so sad, frustrating and makes me furious @gillybob . Somewhat off topic, but in light of gillybob’s post, yesterday afternoon, I was out walking my elderly three (Orla was sound asleep so I let her be ) and saw coming towards me a teeny weeny little baby Dachshund. OMG, I nearly died at the onslaught of cuteness. Because Tamar can be inclined to bark, I shortened her lead and continued on until we met. The little dog was having her first outing after puppy school having completed all her vax. Tamar, btw, was obviously in loved and didn’t bark at all. The couple were obviously entranced with their little one and they said that they were so happy/relieved that their first meeting of new dogs since puppy school was such a positive one .... I was too LOL. My only fear was that the baby’s tail would be wagged off. OMG the joy and happiness of a little dog. We can only pray that all future encounters will bring her continued joy.

I would imagine the answer to that is, “Yes.” That sort of a/hole always would blame others and aggressively as well.
-
Never a truer word. So damned sad.

Yes, report. As to your comment about a man bullying an elderly woman: this is so true and I too am so sick and tired of it. I have been bullied by men as I walk my dogs and also by tradesmen who come to my house. I know that they would NEVER speak to me the way they do if I were a couple or another man. On the other hand, I meet plenty of men and women who are decent and caring, but sadly the ugliness of bullying is something that leaves one so shaken and horrified at the nastiness and aggression of some people that it is hard for it not to take the upper position in one’s heart and soul.

Oh! Well done, @RuralPug, to find all those links. Such gorgeous dogs. -
LOL - hope you find it soon Loved the photographs @The Spotted Devil

Ha ha ha - I didn’t think of being greeted by a big dog on the inside. But that security aspect sounds excellent.
-
Where would you go to have something like that installed? Would be useful for those of us who don’t get around the doggy events and would be such a boon just for when you wanted to take your dogs out with you en route to visiting, beach, wherever.
-
These doors would be big enough for a person to go through. That would worry me

I saw this at the vet hospital yesterday and was so taken I had to photograph and post here. There weren’t any dogs in the van at the time, but probably wide open to keep it as cool as possible. Great if you just have to pop into the shops quickly or whatever. IMG_0568 by Cynthia Waters, on Flickr IMG_0567 by Cynthia Waters, on Flickr

We need to remember that they are all different ....... and generally as loveable . Please keep us updated as we all love “happy ever after” stories, as I am sure this will become.

Emmi is beautiful and, judging from what you told us in your post, it would seem she has made some enormous strides in the past couple of days for a little dog who has been through so much.
-
Unfortunately, dogs don’t speak human and we don’t speak dog, so matter how many times you tell her that she is safe, secure and loved, only time will tell her that. As hard it is will be, I agree with those who say to let her be and give her more time. The last few months have been a huge roller coaster for her and she needs to heal emotionally and psychologically from all the upheaval. Good luck and may your mum and her dog (no name in all your posts ?? ) soon be an unbreakable partnership.

I just hope that the Little Red Boy isn’t too bossy

Such a darling man. The passing of time is so damned scary.

Hard decision, biting dog. *Updated*

I sincerely hope the medication helps your little dog. Cortisone might be “hard core” but it can be magic solution and not necessarily for her life time. Good luck and keep us posted.
