  1. ah thanks for that GR. The vet also said they would need to rule out a small facture in the leg. Oh thanks for the info Dr. V
  2. ah ok thanks. The vet didnt get him on his back and do the drawer test, she just flexed and prodded the knee with him standing
  3. im using the south st one as I like them and the price seems to be reasonable. The vet seems to think its a cruciate ligament as the patella seems ok. which vet do you use GR?
  4. thanks for that persephone. it will be interesting to find out whats wrong. He doesnt seem to be in any pain. Do you think he would be in less pain if the ligament was totally torn as opposed to just a small tear?
  5. thanks guys. Im taking him in for an x-ray on monday. He is on anti-inflammatories and it has improved a bit but its stil not quite right. The vet thinks it might be a cruciate ligament injury. The other thing i have to decide is apparently they could repair the knee at the same time as they do the x-ray. To save on 2 GA's i guess. Im not sure whether to just find out whats wrong with the knee first and then decide on what to do or just get it all done at the same time.
  6. i cant seem to download the show schedule for the royal. Does anyone know what day the papillons are on? cheers
  7. does anyone have a copy of MS office I could borrow please?. I just realised the new computer doesnt come with it
  8. yep he is a pap. I just dont know as there seemed to be no heat or pain in the joint after it happened
  9. Ok guys I was after some advice. On Saturday I was at the park with my dog. He was running in a straight line to pick up a ball. Then it looks like his right knee buckled and he did a somersault and then he was really sore and couldnt walk. I felt his leg and it looked like it was really stiff and the whole leg/hip looked like it was facing more inward more than it should. At first I thought he may have done some structural damage to his knee. So I held him up on his hind legs and he was able to put weight on his leg without any obvious pain. So then I was thinking maybe he had hurt his hip. Anyway it gradually improved and he didnt seem to be in much pain (he is normally a sook), so I decided i would give it a few days to see how it went before taking him to the vet. Now I cant see any structural differences between the 2 hindlegs. He seems 95% right and is gaiting normally, its just everynow and again he looks a bit stiff and ginger on this one leg. He is not too sore to chase birds or get on the couch. So now im thinking maybe its a muscular tear or strain. I just dont know whether I should wait it out a few more days or go to the vet today. Because I was thinking if its a muscular thing what can the vet do anyway.. Any help would be much appreciated
  10. Thanks quickbrown fox. Is that an airedale puppy you have there?
  11. That is bloody terrible news vaders mum. RIP little boy. If that happened to me I would be devastated and a little angry perhaps but good on you for taking it so well and not blaming the breeder, as I bet she feels like crap as it is, and accidents happen to the best of us. But still i think you are better off just waiting for another pup from Steve. Another 8 weeks is not long at all to wait. She has a great reputation in the breed and you know she will be there for you in years to come to provide you with advice and support.
  12. well I could go there too as its not far. Depends on the vet I guess. Is there a really great one there?
  13. so guys, does anyone use the south st vet in O'connor? I was just looking at finding a good vet.
  14. Oh i see he has a photo up now hesa, he is a lovely looking dog. I saw that big full page ad in the dog newspaper of that bi-black dog imported from the UK called black prince.
  15. A big congratulations Hesa, They are beautiful. Sorry I havent been following your progress, who is the sire?
  16. It's Jail NOT gaol. I swear the word gaol is a a slur on the english language
  17. yeah probably, there are some baby puppies on the ground, just waiting to see how they turn out and will see what the breeder thinks. Thanks for the socialisation offer Roxynhemi, Cruise looks gorgeous, great photo!
  18. Rubystar - Have you asked Bonnie Parker and Lindsay about the breeders they got their red merle's from? Think it may be the same breeder in SA. Golden Rules - What breed are you getting?
  19. which vet in Oçonnor is it? Have you seen Jean Dodd's vaccination protocol? maybe use that. Golden Rules - Do you know which surgery Claire Middle works at in Bibra Lake? Do you take your dog to her?
  20. i might be getting a puppy towards the end of september so you can take photo's of him/her, that would be great. Actually a photo of the puppy with Gizmo would be nice, like comparing dogs of the same breed 14 weeks & 14 years would be interesting.
  21. http://www.ors.wa.gov.au/TOPICSROADSAFETY/...s/Speeding.aspx Let's hope it was 9km/h over! Thanks for that guys. That is quite reasonable actually compared to the not wearing your seatbelt fine, which is minimum $500
  22. WX do you know how much those speed camera tickets are? im sure i got flashed along canning hwy doing about 70 in a 60 zone
  23. Well there are certainly some bullbred characteristics in there, particularly in the head. Whereas I can not see a single dachshund characteristic in there, no daxy ears, no daxy muzzle, no daxy coat and it has even longer legs than a daxy.
