  1. Omg that's hilarious! Was she going to try and dominate the cat? None of my dogs are that brave (or silly?)
  2. Anyone else hear the news on the radio that a cane toad was found in a Bayswater garden today? Go away cane toads, you awful things!
  3. The turkey necks from the pet chef are really good quality. Perfect size for my dwarfs too RS if you order from the pet chef are you able to pick up your order some time during the week? It's a pity they don't do saturdays.
  4. Both types of corgi are very easy to train, they just love to please. Although my female pembroke will push the boundaries in regards to rules we have like all the dogs know they aren't allowed out the front door unless they have their leads on. If the door is open she will go and sit juuuuust outside the door. Little bitch she is So you have to be firm with training just so you don't end up with a dog that rules the roost. Swedish vallhunds can be easy to train depending on whether you have a stubborn dog or not :D My girl was stubborn as hell but if you found something she considered worthy (sausage as a training treat for instance) then she'd do anything you wanted (well almost anything).
  5. Mim, totally OT but I had a dream about you the other day! :D We were walking past a house in NZ (on the street I grew up on) and there was a couple of Corgis out the front of one house. Someone said it was called Daina and I said 'Oh is the other one called Mim?' They said yes so I have a lightbulb moment and go "Oh, so that's where Mim lives!" ;) So weird and random hey??!! ;) You'd think it was because I was spending too much time on DOL but actually I don't even have internet access at home now and so only catch up briefly occasionally at work. My little Paddy Pop got roughed up last night by a huge Newfoundland. ;) He seems fine though, happy enough to trot around with a couple of Bernese Mountain dogs aftewards thankfully. Puppies are like babies, they add grey hairs to your head ;) ;) Do I need to get a restraining order GR?! ;) I've had a dream about a DOLer before and it was pretty much the same thing, I recognised the dogs and then the DOLer ;) In my dream though I had lumped a whole group of DOL dogs to be owned by this one person ;) Dreams are funny things. Interesting that it was set in NZ though because my mum is from NZ! ETA your post reminded me that on Sunday we drove past Lake Monger and I saw an adorable Newfie puppy being walked ;)
  6. If anyone ordered those cheap crates from catch of the day they will probably arrive today. Got mine this morning and I am very happy with it. The dogs love it and have remembered their crate training from their breeders and keep popping themselves in their for a snooze.
  7. Research Cardigan welsh corgis, pembroke welsh corgis and swedish vallhunds. All are potentially perfect fits, depending on a few tweaks of your preferences (grooming, exercise, shedding, trainability etc). Pembrokes and vallhunds, in my experience, are barkers Excellent watch dogs but the problem is they think they need to alert you when they "think" they hear something outside, not just when they are sure there's something outside But training can deal with that. Being gentle on lead is another quality that training would determine. ETA: I was raised by a vallhund (well my parents did a bit of work too ) and I think she was the best childhood companion I could have wished for. Super gentle and loving, stubborn to no end (which taught me patience!), totally bombproof, cheeky, just so many qualities that made her the perfect dog to grow up with.
  8. Going off Diva's suggestion of Special Edition you can get Limited Edition
  9. Always got comments when walking Elle. Everything from "It's a wolf!" to "Look at sausage dog!" Get sooo many comments about cutting off my dogs tails. I usually just say "they were born that way" because I can't be bothered explaining any further anymore but one day I was being accused by an older lady and I said to her (rather rudely ) "If I were cutting off their tails then why would I leave the black one with his tail?" she was stumped. Stupid cow Anyway, the point of this post. Muddy is an unusual looking dog. He is a long coated corgi which throws people off enough as not many people know they can be long coated and then to make it more confusing he is also a tricolour which isn't as common as the red and white colouring. Nobody has ever guessed his breed correctly, even when walking him with the other 2 corgis (who are so easy to recognise yet people STILL get it wrong) and I mostly get told he's a border collie
  10. Does she eat really fast and then chuck it? My red boy does that with chicken legs and wings. He eats it sooo quickly, just slightly chewing to break the bones a bit and then it comes back up nearly straight away and he eats it again. So maybe if you left her to it she'd eat it again?
  11. Dogs are allowed in Kings Park, just not all areas From the Kings Park website: May I bring my dog into the Park? Yes, provided it is on a leash and, of course, dog owners are required to clean up any "deposits". Dogs are not admitted to the Wildflower Market Place at the Kings Park Festival or the fenced playground in the Lotterywest Family Area or on the elevated section of the Lotterywest Federation Walkway.
  12. Stained hard wood floors and tiles. Our wood floors have scratches but not from the dogs, they are from me and my brothers wrecking them as kids and also from moving furniture. The dogs nails don't make a mark on them ETA: got it wrong, we have stained floors not polished.
  13. I was hoping I'd get home from work and open up the thread to find some Pea pictures but no luck! C'mon Tiggy!
  14. I don't think dogs outgrow dreaming. All mine dream and my old girl was still dreaming at nearly 13yrs. My boys are violent dreamers and often kick me in the back if they are sleeping next to me I love the little "wuffs" they make.
  15. Hey bigpaws I used to get the premade mix (scavengers find) but don't bother with it anymore. It's just a slush that doesn't clean their teeth or anything and it's pretty gross and goes off quickly. I just order frames and necks and stuff from them, not the premade mix. Pea is gorgeous tiggy RSG breeds 'em well.
  16. Oh Tiggy I'm so sorry for you and RSG Pea will help you grieve and bring you lots of joy I am sure. Rest little Shimi
  17. I've got a horse lunge lead and the clip is no problem for my corgis. Mine is either 10m or 12m, can't remember.
  18. These are on fire on DOL today. I've ordered one but now I am regretting not getting two
  19. I've been out all morning and just came home to a note saying my cleanrun parcel has arrived!!!! Woohoo will pick it up tomorrow. I can't wait to see the cute little skunk toy
  20. Yay I just snapped one up for the future pup. Best price I've seen anywhere.
  21. Welcome to the darkside RS Right now I've got Muddy sleeping next to me after a bit of a wrestle (resulting in my face accidentally getting scratched - my fault), Sarge is on one of the other couches, belly up like a dead cockroach and Daina is passed out on the floor with a toy in her mouth, another under her stomach and another under her leg Ah, dogs
  22. I would put him as brown. If somebody unfamiliar with kelpies/dogs saw him out and about I think they'd call him brown (and cream/tan) rather than red. If he had gotten out and you were door knocking asking if people had seen a red kelpie, again I think they'd think "not a red kelpie" because I don't think the general public would call that red. Most likely the rangers would call him a brown dog too. As tollersowned said, I think people see "red" in dogs more like the red of a toller or a corgi or borders.
  23. Yeah the website is a bit poorly organised. There's another section where you select your suburb and it tells you your delivery day. Here: http://www.thepetchef.com.au/setup/delivery-map
  24. I order from them about once every 2-3 weeks (if i remember to). First time I went into the store/office and talked with the owner guy because I was unsure what to get and how much to feed. So after he helped me a bit I paid there and took it home. Now I just order online, you choose your payment method (I do cash) and can choose to have it delivered (it costs less than $5) or pickup (free). They say to leave an esky out or the food won't be left but I am home when they deliver and don't have an esky so I just meet the delivery guy outside. Everything comes in bags and it's usually defrosted a bit when it reaches me so it's yucky and leaking juices.
