Hello photography gurus After having a Nikon D3000 for less than a year, my brother has proven his talent for destroying his things once again and the camera is ruined. USB port doesn't work, lens is stuffed, screen is stuffed. Warranty doesn't cover it and parents have told him it's up to him to get it repaired which I don't see happening. So, I think I'll get myself a new toy I did enjoy the Nikon but felt it was too slow to take photos (perhaps another fault caused by my brother though) and often the moment I wanted to capture would have passed by the time the photo was taken. I have had a play with my friends Canon and it's awesome so I've managed to decide I want a Canon. But, I can't decide which would suit me better out of the EOS 1000D or the EOS 500D. I went to Harvey Norman and held both but the assistant wouldn't let me take any photos. They both feel nice in my hands though. I want to take portraits and action shots of the dogs, rabbits, cats etc as well as eventually buying a macro lens to take close-up photos of insects and plants. So I need something that is easy to use, easy to take sharp photos with and quick. I think that's more about the lens than the camera body though. So out of the two, which would you recommend? Also, is it important to have IS? Should I make sure my lenses have IS for what I want to do or do you think it wouldn't matter? There's a very cheap 1000D twin lens kit at officeworks but the lenses don't have IS. The same kit with IS is about double the price at Harvey Norman. And has anyone bought from camera-warehouse.com.au? Oh and ( ) there seem to be two lens combos in the twin kits for both the 1000D and the 500D. Either 18mm-55mm and 75mm-300mm OR 18mm-55mm and 55mm-250mm. Which would be more suited to the photos I want to take? Sorry for all the Q's but I want to make the right choice.

I rinse them thoroughly after being at the beach. They get washed with shampoo if they've been swimming in chlorine though. ETA: My dogs get thoroughly soaked at the beach

From the look of the photos, Sidro may possibly be in Hawaii or some other country. Where pitbulls are legal and popular. Going by this thread made ealier today, Sidro is in Australia. Also, the dog in the picture under "These are his parents" looks like a Dogue De Bordeaux cross to me..

Great pictures and what a handsome boy he is I have always thought that he and MavericksMission's Maverick could be siblings.

I think this may be the same dog? http://perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Pets-dogs-pu...QAdIdZ252026500 If it's not the same dog then that means there are two beautiful bassets looking for homes in perth

Has anyone else seen this ad on gumtree? "hey need to get rid of my female rotti, she is 11 years old pure breed docked tail. very gentle nature brought up with kids and loves them she is very placid and calm not very active due to age." How sad for the poor old girl. Been with her family 11yrs and now they want to "get rid of" her I wish I was in a position to take her in.

Hey outatime, I'm just flipping through the latest issue of Dogs Life and thought I recognised a certain leonberger! Ruby is practically famous now! For anyone who wants to see it's on pg.83 for a Houndstooth Studio ad.

Looking For Some Advise On Right Type Of Dog
Mim replied to adogisforlife's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'd go a cardigan corgi rather than a vallhund or a pembroke corgi. Potentially, any of these breeds could be the perfect fit though. Vallhunds are more work. A corgi may be easier when you are also looking after young kids. -
Yeah I shook my head when I found that out. Not sure if she still does but years ago I read that the royal family breeds labradors and she's the boss, overseeing breedings and such.

What Would Your Dog/s Prefer...a Big Meaty Bone Or A Walk?
Mim replied to fainty_girl's topic in General Dog Discussion
Walk, no doubt. They'd abandon their dinners in a second if a walk was up for grabs. -
Dju, more than likely he is just dreaming but if you are really worried, film it and show your vet.

Just want to say, this dog in question and her pups are inbred, not line bred. They are not the same thing and if you have been a breeder like you said then I think you'd be aware of the difference.

Muddy only had his puppy vaccs and was titre tested at 15 months with adequate immunity so he hasn't been vacc'd again. We are getting the older dogs their 3 yearly shots next week though so I might get Mud done just so he's on the same schedule as the others. He'll be 2 in April.

I've gone from 4 to 3 this year. Corgis so not big dogs physically. Food: I feed raw and they don't need much. Vet bills: there are none. Vaccs 3 yearly, one off for desexing + microchipping, they only go if they are sick which so far hasn't really happened. The boys have needed medicine for ear infections a couple of times and my old girl had a UTI once but other than that, they are very robust. Worming, flea treatments etc don't add up to that much either. I buy them cheap online. Walking is easy. I walk with somebody else and one of us walks 2 while the other walks 1. Otherwise I do two rounds, once with 2 dogs then again with the remaining one but if it's just me I usually take each of them one at a time. Bedding: they sleep on my bed Plenty of room! They also have a large crate (which one of them prefers to sleep in) and a large bed in another room of the house which they like to go in during the day or sometimes Sarge decides he doesn't want to sleep in my room so he goes there. Most of the time I find they prefer the floor over their beds. The only issue I have is that I don't have enough hands to pat them all at once Multiple dogs just works for us. It's so easy but now I have spoilt myself and don't think I can ever go back to just two, let alone one!

I've got two water babies who are total naturals at swimming but every now and then, Sarge finds himself going vertical so somebody has to put him back into swimming position and he's off again Louis is very cute. I love it how he barely moves his little back feet ETA pics of Daina Making ripples She enters the water very gracefully.. NOT

I don't watch bondi vet but caught the end of an episode a while ago. There were two dogs living together who wanted to kill each other (I think it was a jack russel terrier and a bull terrier) and bondi vet basically told the owners that if they got the JRT desexed it would solve all their problems and they could plonk both dogs together with no issues. Didn't mention seeing a behaviourist or trainers or that desexing may have no effect. What an idiot.

Dog hair has an incredible ability to get everywhere I travel 1hr via public transport to get to uni and during that trip I imagine many, many dog hairs are left on seats and floating in the air but I was surprised one day, while dissecting an animal at uni, to see a nice long corgi hair staring up at me, wedged between the stomach and the liver The other day I found one of the red heads' hairs partway in Muddy's ear canal!
