Dog Ingesting Rat Bait
persephone replied to Littledoglover's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
it's great she vomited a lot of it up! guess it will depend on how much the dog ate, the chemicals involved.. as to what vit.K dose the vet uses? this might be useful ... LINK it shows commonly used chemicals in rat bait - and the toxicity levels . We have recently changed to one of the 'safer' baits ... and I usually put pelletised bait in soft drink bottles or little lockable bait stations from a $2 shop .. tucked away behind furniture, etc. Hope your little dog shows no ill effects now :) -
I would feed twice , and use a slow-down bowl, like this sort of thing ....

my vet used to hate doing this op ..and dogs coming back for post-op checks quite often had problems with toileting etc ....

Good Post, C&R. Anal gland removal is a nasty op ..very painful , and messy ....I hope you find the right vet . ( I am guessing you have made all the dietary changes ...talked with the breeder, to se if they know of suitable treatment/vets . ) is your dog a happy and friendly and relaxed dog? it is most unusual for dogs to knowingly spray people .... or is this happening when dog is being handled ..just leaking out ? .Sounds very uncomfortable .

11 weeks? anyhow - Spiderman was a tad concerned earlier.....

It is usually a flea. It may also be low grade hip pain- or it may just feel amazingly gooood ???? Doing it constantly suggests a habit/obsession if vet checks are all clear.

I would also think blockage ...did he have barium, or whatever it is that is used these days ..or just an xray ? some things do not show on Xrays - plastic/some leaves..stuff like that . What a worry . I hope he's fixed soon , poor boy.

I will suggest then that you purchase some ADAPTIL products to use with her - she may be more comfortable ....

ADVANTAGE 'spot on' can be directly used on baby pups - do NOT rely on guess work - phone the manufacturers they will guide you as to how much, etc . if they pups are still with Mum - use the advantage on her ..and the pups will get some on them as well. Also completely change bedding/fleabomb the area (keeping all dogs away for 24 hrs)

Smoke and Don love carrots . This morning I just gave one to Smoke , figuring one chewed-up carrot inside is better than two ;) Anyhow ... he carried it around the house , then started chewing. He would take it back to Don , who was allowed to bite off a chunk, then Smoke would carry it away for his own chew session . This went on until carrot was gone -

I am hoping evolution makes it so snakes are born with bells on ..so we can hear them! ;)

Glad the snake catcher was able to do their thing! That's scary.

My faves are the monitor with his tongue working, and that frogmouth gape :)
