Thanks, folks ! I will pass all this on. ! the reason this pup was chosen is that at around 8 weeks old she was bomb proof - like a ragdoll cat - would happily go to/with anyone - would sleep in strangers' arms - was happy to be picked up , would just "drape" ...this then continued for a couple of months , too ! She was just one absolute sweetheart - carrying things, fine with kids..perfect .She was fine when first taken into the shop- thought she was in heaven ...this shop/cafe isn't terribly busy - some days there may be 3 people , some days 30 .Open from 10 -4 There is a puppy pen with kennel for time out periods . At home the dogs have a doggie door that allows them 24/7access to a section of the living room that is 'theirs'..it is fenced off, and has all their beds/toys in . Outside is lawn and garden and more toys , chooks to watch through the fence....They are allowed into the main living room of an evening for cuddles, and there is a warm weather /outdoor sitting area they are allowed in when their Mum is there too .They love being visited/talked to and are lovely friendly dogs . This poor mite is just so different to any of her previous dogs !

A friend has a small fluffy puppy @almost 6 mths old . Pup was born at the friend's home and was the most chilled , gorgeous little thing . Friend then took puppy into her work (cafe/gift shop) to be the 'manager'- to greet customers outside and be cuddled . Pup loved it . Then things changed Pup started to dash under the ramp by the front door when people came ..or hide elsewhere. she was reluctant to be caught- but once in someone's lap was the dear sweet and relaxed 'ragdoll' we all know & love. Things have now worsened to her jumping/running at home if shoes get kicked off/a tissue gets dropped/ there is a loud noise... She is never going back to the shop . I spoke with my friend and there have been two instances which I feel have pushed this darling girl into this state - 1: a group of kids - all wanting a cuddle , chasing puppy into the fishpond! 2 about 6 weeks ago , a golden retriever who was not on leash as is recommended cornered and stood over puppy who then ran for safety ... Pup is settled at home , barring sudden happenings ..and loves her cuddles immensely - plays with her mum & dad .. A behaviourist is out of the question- small country town. Friend doesn't want pup zombie'd out on drugs (her words) is there anything that can be done to help this baby with her fears? owner is kind of dog savvy - but not wonderful .She has been frantically googling. Any ideas, folks? the thought is there to give pup to a couple who love the look of her - an older couple ... owner is wondering if this might help? Thank you

I once used malaseb regularly on an itchy dog, and never noticed him scratch after baths ..the malaseb was a big help , and left his coat lovely and shiny .

Dog being aggressive to other dog with epilepsy
persephone replied to Cath123's topic in Aged Dog Care
Dogs will often attack other dogs behaving strangley, yes It is not a rare occurrence. It will not stop. AS the others have said - separation when you are not home/supervising - and a return vet visit for old Bob, for a medication review . So sorry this is happening, but it is just a part of dog behaviour . -
with a poo sample if possible .

This. Constipation can have different causes from blockages to dehydration ....it needs checking carefully .

As said- speak with your trainer re: the reactivity and use of a coat . if there is a chance of dog getting soaked thru and remaining damp- then a raincoat is sensible,. If there is a light shower and moisture can be wiped off ( NOT rubbed in ) then no coat needed

I am going to buy a spray bottle for water - my foot stamp may not be strong enough - although she is very smart - she worked out the routine quickly , and pesters me to go back to her room when her time's up ( she gets dinner then) and she's learning how to play with a little kitty Kong ! It has yummy stuff squirted in it ..and she has great fun trying to get it all out LOL .
-
Thanks folks - It's only about 2 split hrs out of Clive's day , and he gets to stay out & play with whoever else is outside/be a dog /roll in stuff/play with the hose... , something he doesn't get to do much . Apart from that all is the same , but with more playtime/treats when he IS with me. Bobbin is definitely staying - and yes, managing the two is high priority ! I do not want anyone injured!! I have seen a lot worse - but she is not playing, either. We have a routine - everyone knows it , and it seems to be working ok

She would still attack, I think - she spits & carries on thru a screen door , if the dogs are outside & come near the doors ...A crate/pen may just give her a captive audience . I will try introductions again - they have been in a room together several times with no action - some distance apart ..I think, with time, things will improve. If not, it is what it is .Tallie was never best friends with him - they'd "play" chasey...but she would also bop him wheenever the mood took her .

Bobbin-cat recently joined my life/household. She is responsible for a large chunk of my heart ! She is also Aggro towards dogs . I knew this when I adopted her - but seeing as in this house no dog sleeps indoors at night, made the decision anyway . As it turns out - she will tolerate (as in, not try & kill) dogs who are tethered indoors, and under supervision ! As soon as they are released- Oops! That experiment will not be repeated Poor Clive. The thing is - Does Clive need more attention now I am spending extra time with Bobbin during the day as well? he gets to spend a couple of hours more outside with other dogs instead of sleeping under the table or alongside my desk , while Bobbin gets to have free reign of the house instead of two rooms and her enclosure ....and we have playtime Cat playtime is easy and fun I am playing actively with him a bit more - and he is actually asking for play , which is a Very Good Thing ! he brings me a toy to throw /hide.That's about the extent of my play as my legs don't work all that well these days . I take him in the car as usual between houses/to the river etc -, and hold his paw while we watch a TV program , but am just wondering if he is missing out badly ...he gets extra bones, too. I feel bad - but I AM a cat person

Question for breeders around puppy health
persephone replied to JewelC's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
This. Allergies are often from what is inhaled/eaten , so allergy testing is the fastest way to find the cause! I am so sorry you appear to have a 'problem puppy' - it must be so hard watching him is discomfort . -
..and tend to recommend the food they stock/sell .

Reverse sneezing appearing after nose bleed
persephone replied to giraffez's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh, I am so sorry . Not the news you wanted, not at all. Older dogs often get tumours - the hard part is when they are in inaccessible areas I doubt the vets have anything to stop the nosebleeds- but ask them if there is anything even that can lessen his anxiety Nosebleeds are scary , and you will be constantly watching and worrying . I am remembering back to when this boy was a baby , and you were learning - it seems we have fast-forwarded to now ! So many memories and experiences packed into those years for you....so much love, so many wet-nosed kisses. -
A bit depressed/sleeping a lot, and diarrhoea all point to a puppy who is unwell. Four days is a long time , he should see a vet , Pups dehydrate quickly, and other things can gain a foothold. Doesn't matter if he's a pointer or a mixed breed. The vet may suggest a bland diet such as boiled chicken/rice for a few days, then GRADUALLY ease into whatever you want to feed. Canned food can often cause loose stools. Hopefully some meds will also be prescribed. It is so easy for youngsters to pick up bugs .

My Vote would be for a papillon ..smart, but cuddly , very appealing lookswise, EXTREMELY tactile, and the couple I've known have been solid as. Big dog in a small, delightfully attractive body.

You are doing well - keep fluids up and best of luck at the vets tomorrow .
