a round 14 weeks I think??

he floats along, doesn't he ?

Not so much ... and I think with bitches, each cycle without a pregnancy leaves a thickening in the uterus ..and if this breaks down, it allows bacteria to grow .... something like that, anyhow.
-
The op to remove uterus/cervix and leave ovaries is possible, for sure . However , bitches will still show "in season behaviours" and attract males - things owners are pleased to NOT have in a dog who has had an ovarohysterectomy .

For the 50 years I can remember my family having entire male sheep dog workers ... There has been one only with a tumour from a retained testicle ..and he was in his teens . No other cancers or obvious problems .

..i don't think it is 'teenage blues' - it is resource guarding ..and can be a big problem.I suggest getting an excellent and recommended person to assess this behaviour, and help you with management :) if youCLICK here, you will find an older thread with ideas and discussion. Glad you came here to ask ,before something happened that could lead to injury! :)
