  1. R I P lovely girl .... you chose your time & place ..
  2. What a special memory to have! Did any of that first litter end up working? I have the funny feeling no .... but they were certainly cute :) I named one of them after my Mum ;)
  3. Whereabouts are you ? We may be able to suggest someone closer ... the weather now is cooling down ... he is young and healthy ....
  4. How awful I would definitely get her checked by a veterinary behaviourist . Also , find a good insect repellant suitable for DOGS - and use it regularly. remove any food stains/food bowls/bones etc do a regular poo patrol ..and maybe squirt some vinegar/water onto toilet spots ? I spray all window frames/outdoor light fittings with a surface spray..so any flies which land there are dead...
  5. Oh Dear ............ does he have Yfronts, or buttons ?
  6. I guess there are some who haven't heard teh story :) I wanted to see how very old he looks now ;)
  7. Oh, darn - I missed it . Wally Conron was my boss for many years .... ,and yes, that first litter of curly coated puppies was so special, and held such promise - I remember it well .
  8. Welcome. I am glad you posted :) if you are around melb - you are fortunate in that there are some DOL members who are professional/experienced/ caring - and who can help you understand and manage this dog. ERNY COSMO NEKHBET ..and I know there are more ... please seek some personal professional help ..... and keep us posted .
  9. it can be done before she is mated- or after pups .. it does not need to be done the exact day/week/month written on the records.... I hope all ends well...
  10. PS is SCARY stuff - BUT it has things in it which I can use - and would like to again ... think I'll sign up. ;) It will hurt less this way than buying it all in one hit ....
  11. I don't think danger of snakebite is all that high in most cities/town settings, is it? fair enough if your yard borders a park , or is near agricultural land /industrial estates ...
  12. make sure he is cool - maybe even a fan ? he will also be still recovering - if he doesn't normally go to bed before you do - then leave him :)
  13. These look fantastic!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=fzFXHMUa8CM
  14. There is no way I'd be putting him in a crate with that on It will catch- make noise, pull at him , ...... Awful I have used them heaps - but never in a cage/crate..... He won't be able to run around/chew- so why can't he just have a bed on the floor?Same when you go out :) make sure he has a water bucket/dish high enough to reach without the cone banging on the ground ... If you are concerned .. use a leash to tether him for a day or so .... he WILL get used to it. For 24 hrs he will be feeling 'off' anyway..and will be very confused. Just carry on as normal ..even put a leash on him in the morning ..and walk him outside for 5 minutes ..let him know he can still do things :) Do his training sessions with yummy treats ... :)
  15. Ok..as one who is scared of PS .. even I am interested ;) *goes off to think about it more ....*
  16. :) aww..perhaps he has always wanted a 'cubby house' :)
  17. I'm a wimp ... as said , I can not kill/eat anything I raise /know personally. I hunt/ kill all sorts of animals.. butcher/eat/feed to the dogs .....but see killing something which has been dependent on me , trusts me , is healthy and happy , as a betrayal of trust - and certainly not a public spectacle. I've lost my tribal self, it seems .
  18. Even if it was an animal you had seen often/watched grow/ used the name of /and been looked at by on a regular basis? perhaps one of your own horses? Not for me , I'm afraid . Anything which is fed to humans or animals here has had no previous contact with me .... And I regularly kill/butcher animals for meat .
  19. I usually betadine ..then provide bones/toys etc as needed :)
  20. I walk away if a puppy comes up to me being playful ;) A young puppy is usually too much for cats - as their play styles are so different Don't force them- and make SURE the cats have somewhere which is completely dog proof .
