  1. oh poor little dog - and they had no idea she was gone ?
  2. perhaps you need to meet a lot more people ;)
  3. A vet will be able to scan her for a micro-chip. ..and that's the easiest way to find an owner :)
  4. ..and the best way to do that is to make sure she is known of by vets/pound/rescues /RSPCA , etc . During a storm, pups/dogs can travel long distances !! Hopefully she lives close by ..but she may have run /wandered some kilometres from home....
  5. Your dog sounds lovely :) it's not personal..or directed at your dog - it is a cultural thing ..and ,although it can be disconcerting , remember the people doing the worrying are the ones who have the problem :) many times they are just not used to larger dogs ..and many may have experiences of feral dog packs ... it happens . I remember once training guide dogs - we were doing lift training in a department store . The dog found teh lift , I pressed a button , and we waited. The lift arrived, and upon the door opening- it was a scene reminiscent of a Horror House ride!! A whole lift full of little asian school kids- scared to death of suddenly being confronted with a large dog - while they were in a confined space poor little kids . I removed myself and dog very quickly, and left them to settle again ...
  6. Ouch! I usually put a treat in my hand..close fist tight . open your hand.. the food..and close hand tight . pup/dog will poke, lick, whinge, paw ....... stay firm . Then, when they look away , or sit quietly , I will then offer then the food on the FLAT of my hand . repeat, rinse, repeat ................................
  7. You are very right BlackJaq.....I am going to talk to my son later today, after I make a few calls. I came to the right place for help, as I said before you are all caring and compassionate and know how tough this is. Thank you for the group hug, it's much appreciated....now if I could stop crying!! Crying's OK .. you are dealing with a little life, and what will happen to it - it's a responsibility :)
  8. :) Think about it ..dogs don't have mobile and sensitive fingers to touch , tickle, play ... and they have to play :D
  9. I truly understand what you're saying.....yet another home and the poor little thing could possibly get worse. She is so lovely though.....it's very hard isn't it. yes, it is hard .. for you in caring about her so much.
  10. . I do think it is dietary . Ours get raw bones/meat from when they can chew and DRY puppy kibble - no extras, no milk . No mess,, no soft anything , no smell ..and nothing to step in :) Lovely! However, when puppies are distressed , the digestive system pushes out waste at a faster rate .. and an upset puppy/dog can have loose poo or diarrhoea
  11. poor little girl rehoming at this time of the year is hard because folks either go away , OR are looking for a 'christmas' dog - both unhelpful. She does have some compounding issues ...and it seems as if she is upset/anxious quite a lot. Yet another home , with everything unfamiliar may exacerbate these issues :( I wish you well ... however , the decision to set her free , to give her wings is one you may need to look at ...
  12. I bet you are all so pleased to be back together :)

    How

What a beautiful girl . So Sorry she had to go .Looks as if she raised two wonderful 'pups' though .
  14. You said 'all dogs treated the same' ... did they all get the same dose ? What is the weight difference between them ? perhaps the small one was overdosed ?
  15. jules - yes, you and Amber have done a terrific job :) That is a fantastic photo, too!
  16. What a horrible outcome . I don't envy the decisions you need to make now - and will only remind you that you decide for the pup .. NOT for how you might feel . Weigh up what each decision will mean for you .. and for your boy .... will you wanting to keep him with you be what is the best and most comfortable for him? Will you then try and prolong his life ? Will painlessly giving him his wings hurt you ? Hell, yes! Will you miss him? Every day . Hugo is very lucky . he cannot worry about any of this ..he is sore and feels sick - but cannot imagine what may happen - so don't feel guilty, or that you're 'letting him down'- he doesn't think so :) he knows you love him - that's all. Thinking of you all ....
  17. tend to agree . Giant breeds need careful feeding ..and good feeding . Food, surgery, worming / any medicines, travel ...all these things will cost a lot more than smaller dogs - then there's fencing , strong ,good quality collars/leashes ...
