  1. You'd rarely find a rescue that would adopt to an unfenced yard with a history of a dog being killed by a car. I think they should look at building a secure outside run. Yes. I wasn't thinking
  2. having no fencing makes it almost impossible for me to suggest anything ... other than an older dog who has been well assessed/fostered by rescue ...
  3. Hypothetical if a dog is offered for adoption "with a level 5 resource/bone guarding" .... is this a normal thing? Dog offered thru an organisation/group .
  4. :D all sounding great . Now we need pictures of Jazz being slaved over nursed . ;)
  5. I cannot think how a vacc could cause this at all.... maybe it's a marking just appearing, as she grows ...maybe a scar.... maybe some sort of infection? edit: maybe a beauty spot ? like those teardrop tattoos one sees ? ;)
  6. The poll is fairly useless .. as multiples cannot be chosen - and only one incident , the most serious, can be logged .
  7. My dogs always sit & wait for their dinner .. it's no big deal - just like a human kid saying please ... :)
  8. :) yes, it's humans who think crates are scary ;) with food .. keep her on it , and if you really want to change ... do it very gradually . There are heaps of threads on here about food !!
  9. Puppy may be tiny .. but scratching on that mesh may well lead to holes ... and once they learn that things can be that way ...it's a hard habit to break. I much prefer using things which are too high , too strong , and too unreachable from the very first - so that bad habits never get taught early . Don't know what others use for puppies .. but considering the high likelihood of diarrhoea ..peeing inside , and teeth/claws - something easily washed , and strong ,would be my choice . Soft crates look lovely from a human point of view ..and they are terrific for when travelling , or for trained adults ...I hope your girl appreciates the effort ;) Have a great day!! Very exciting times :D
  10. yes, yes, and yes. this is over many years . Have bitten and made holes in people - and dogs - and caused a dog fatality . Our dogs do scrap , often .. and leave scratches /bruises. Sometimes when they are working elsewhere with say, dogs owned by several workers ...there are fights leading to slit ears & much tenderness/bruising - nothing too drastic. I remember once when my then young Kieran who was very tall (think deerhound) bounced up to a pet goat and grabbed her tail ...she accelerated ... and he was left with the tip of her tail! Not quite sure who got the biggest shock there - it wasn't intentional - he used to grab the horse's tail and pull .. guess he thought goat tails were similar? My Mum's O E S from many years ago was a watchdog .. and folks knew not to come in . Men considered suspicious would often end up on the ground - as she always went for the groin area .... and it obviously hurt ! No blood ever ..but it was an effective deterrent.
  11. A kangaroo or one of those dinosaurs with the small arms (T-rex?) LOL .. or a velociraptor :p
  12. Oh... and before you get carried away in all teh Oohs& Aahhs.. have a read here :) CLICK HERE there are some good simple tips if you CLICK HERE :)
  13. What is it made of ? The better ones for puppies are sturdy plastic or wire mesh .... puppies - even minis can scratch/dig/bite and damage themselves or a crate if the crate is unsuitable . Tiny puppies can also get noses/feet thru the wire ..and chew holes in teh mesh on 'soft' crates .
  14. :) BoBo is flying ............... yes! And Possum's shadow looks a bit like a kangaroo ... a bit ....
  15. :) iPhone catch this afternoon .
  16. bet he enjoyed it!! Might need to shift your bin though, in case he does get something nasty ..... Glad he's OK .
  17. ohhh If you have access to strong pain relief ..and just need a bit of headspace ..then if he is a bit zonked , but happy , that's ok short term . i would not be going this route - but I'm not you. Take care .. and don't feel at all guilty. All your boy knows is your love and caring ...and that's all he will ever know.
  18. I Don't use it .. my cats a get grain free kibble ... but if you have a bit of time ..and your dog needs a health boost , have you thought about feeding a RAW diet which you can easily put together at home?
  19. I hope things settle ... and when you change foods that you do it gradually . :)
  20. yes.. but feeding time is not a time to have them together . Food is a cause for many disagreements/attacks .. and feeding dogs seperately , in different rooms/ crates , takes the stress out of it for everyone No way would I feed a tiny puppy and an adult together ....
  21. How exciting!! :) :) You know what? A puppy trying to jump out of a laundry basket to toilet/get near humans .. can injure itself very easily, or start yipping/crying with frustration . A crate with bedding , placed where you can hear her/reassure her .. and in which she cannot hurt herself sounds to me like a much better option :)
