  1. Unfortunately, in a situation like this, 'a start' only serves to educate the dogs as to how they can problem solve The fence needs to be instantly impregnable to have an effect ......high, deep in the ground, and no visibility . IMO , a metre high is not high enough ..if a dog can bounce and get a glimpse of their nemesis, and a paw to lever themselves with - then next time they will try harder ... and also corrugated iron is sharp on the edges ..and can cause severe injuries to paws/mouths unless erected carefully and solidly . What an unpleasant surprise
  2. I am not wanting another dog at present ..........but have seen another tonight who looks just gorgeous large, merle, fuzzy face ...... *do NOT look, do NOT look , Do NOT look ....*
  3. There are some small snakes around ... and legless lizards ..... it may not be a baby venomous snake ..... have a read here , it might be of help ? LINK or you might be able to use this page . LINK legless lizards are cool ... :) I love 'em!! LINK to lots of LL images :)
  4. perhaps contact the forum owner ,if you think the businesses are suspect ?
  5. caesar should not have ever been allowed to try & steal other dogs' toys . This is your responsibility . Your responsibilty is to not put him in situations where he can get into trouble ..and if this means no dog parks - then that is what needs doing. If he gets walked , and lives a N I L I F life , and goes to training classes, and plays at home ...that's plenty of exercise and brain work for any dog :) are you doing the full N I L I F program , ie: all day, every day ? Of course he is ;) There are no other dogs /wide open spaces/ off leash posturings ! :)
  6. Move to Ireland ? Seriously . The best things are to leave absolutely nothing a snake can use to live/hide in/under. Impossible if you have chooks/aviary birds ... feed only what they can eat ..or have procedures in place to keep rodents away /kill them. Snakes are attracted by mice/rats Do not leave dog/cat food out for ad-lib feeding, either . if it is feasible , get a few free range guinea fowl :) They will eat young snakes, and mice , and alert you to anything strange ... always remember to LOOK UP ! Most snakes can and do ascend trees/building structures/trellises etc ...and believe me , suddenly finding oneself eye-to eye with a venomous snake is NOT pleasant

  8. Jus' thinking ... if this has only started since moving - it may also be connected to him being uncomfortable in new surroundings, and possibly also to do with his sight loss. Have you taken him on a guided tour ? On leash? shown him everything close up in the yard? If he enjoys food /a particular smell .. perhaps give him treats, or place his favourites in small doses at fencelines/steps/bushes etc in the yard - so he can build up a picture of what's there?
  9. so ... has he had a good check by the vet ? it may be something else other than arthritis ..heart/other pain, failing senses .....
  10. When we were bitten as kids , we were the ones punished , and asked what we did to deserve it ! No bad bites but they did break skin sometimes ...
  11. Glad everyone's happier :)
  12. YES :) or a peanut butter sandwich :) This works well with ourdogs..and is dead easy . That and/or some of the soft and fattier lamb flaps .
  13. I usually give it after whelping , esp around the 3-6 week mark ... as well as good calcium rich food . After having one case of it ..that was enough!
  14. I second getting a full vet check done ..not just heart/lungs..... it does sound as if something's happening which needs investigating , and is probably best dealt with before the new baby arrives ...
  15. Dear little old thing ... and enjoy the good memories ...
