yes. with this poor girl having problems both from being around some other dogs, and noise/storms , there is a real need for professional assessment/ behaviour modification

Gayle _ I'm glad you caught him in the act, and have now foiled his plans! :p We have been lucky. 50 years of having multiple dogs..and all with collars on permanently , the only case of a dog being injured/dying involved a horrible series of events many years ago,involving the back of a ute and a tether which loosened . these dogs are working dogs .. running thru scrub/working in sheepyards/squeezing thru and jumping over fences ..all sorts of things. Our dogs primarily wear plain leather collars .

Just cut food intake by about a third..and exercise more

and have you reported them being loose?

..and a vet hasn't seen her yet? it might be time to get someone to check her over. There are heaps of things which can cause scratching ...most likely allergies... but to what? that's the tricky bit! Dogs can be allergic to grass/pollen/fleas/meat proteins/food colourings/shampoos.... all sorts of things !! re: fleas.. it only takes one bite to set off an allergic reaction ..you may not ever see a flea . Good luck at teh vets ...

does sound more joint/muscle than teeth .. hopefully Xrays will help find the problem soon for you

Hi questions: would there be a real benefit to you if another dog joined the family? are you happy to have twice the walking/training/grooming/vet bills? are the family/housemates happy to have another dog in the house? are you prepared for you nice settled dog to maybe learn bad habits/become more active and perhaps noisier (when playing) ?

heart is a muscle meat ..and a rich meat .. fed as part of the daily ration it should be fine ...just little bits

Agree with this .. poor little dog.Get yourself an assessment from someone recommended, and work from there.

Sounds painful.. I think an Xray would be in order..just to see if something is dislocated/.cracked. My first thought ..with apologies to vet nurses ... is that maybe something happened when he was being given the tablet?..or it may be coincidence it happened then... It may indeed be an inflammatory thing .. but while Googling is handy - xrays and bloods are much better!

AS there is no mention in your post of a vet visit .. it is hard for us to say what could have been the problem. Our dogs kill/eat lizards, and have never been sick..I handle them..and have kept them as pets for years and I'm sure often i don't bother washing straight away- I've not suffered either...*touch wood* the black stool concerns me ..as that could have been blood. No ideas from me - except I would have thought diarrhoea would be present in cases of salmonella poisoning... Hope your girl stays well.

As I said- I have no doubt everything will work Meerkats are just so perfect- as they are rarely relaxed..there is always something happening.

poor cow - they probably broke her pelvis doing what they did ... there are ways to make it easier ...and a bullet is infinitely preferable. The only consolation is that they have lost a lot of money ..and that will hurt them.

She is a tiny tiny baby ..and probably need to be taken outside at least every 1/2 hour .Is there a glitch in my training? I think so . NO way can she hold on for 3 hrs during the day ..and possibly not at night she is a baby.Are my expectations too high? possibly. Was the first 8 weeks of her life conditioned to relieve herself on newspaper/ puppy pads in such close proximity to her play and sleeping quarters a factor? yes.Was she purchased from a reputable breeder? I was going to suggest you speak with them. After these accidents will she continue throughout her maturity to use these surfaces as a toilet despite 9/10 times it's on the desirable location, grass? Not if she gets lots of praise for using grass..and that she is prevented from using other surfaces. (try using a long lead on her) Should I treat the concrete and the rest of the undesirables like our dwelling and restrict, restrict, restrict? Just make sure that her leader/teacher keeps her where she needs to be Am I being too hard on myself? Don't know ;)

even after nearly 8 yrs, I so miss my Kieran .. deerhoundXdane ............ he was such a sweet and honest dog.
