  1. It is indeed- avoiding potential fatal dog injuries/law suits/personal injury...and I'm all for it! getting PROFESSIONAL HELP is what is necessary. until that is done - why, yes, avoidance is my recommendation and there are HEAPS of things which can be done with dogs on lead ... they don't have to chase balls to be fulfilled and content .
  2. Why can't the dog be walked on a lead locally? That would give it enough exercise and sniffing time Millions of dogs live their lives without the stress of a dog park . There is help available if your mum's in a city . Ask on here, and we'll point you in the right direction !
  3. Oh... Yes, if she followed a wombat the outcome would not be good. All you can do is hope some other bushwalkers found her and are loving her somewhere safe. Not ideal... but a better thing to imagine
  4. Deejay - where is your mother situated? perhaps we can recommend someone to help her? And I don't think at this time , it's a good plan to take an unpredictable, potentially aggressive dog to obedience classes. Better to be assessed and safely helped at home ..then when your mum learns more about what's going on.... maybe
  5. the answer is basic. Do not take a dog like this to somewhere there are other dogs. Contact a recommended professional to assess and advise and educate.
  6. Cheapaschips have them ..pretty awful quality tho .
  7. this is a video link, apparently.... just in case you are on limited data allowance ,or dialup .
  8. THis bit was of some concern to me as well.. as it seemed a very small space.
  9. I listened to that yesterday ....glad it was that reporter and not me ! The old man sounded a character
  10. I snakes here live in engine sheds/under/in the chassis of old cars . they don't seem to mind.... Phenyle has also been suggested as a barrier spray .
  11. Someone I know had many reptiles in large enclosures.. he tried the repellers, and the snakes curled up on top of them ;)
  12. Not sure about a human mouthwash.. it would need to be the alcohol free ones..otherwise it will sting his mouth .. most also have saccharin etc in them .. What about some organic apple cider vinegar in his water bowl? That way he washes his OWN mouth out :p ..and vinegar can slow down the growth of many bacteria , AFAIK. You might also like to try colloidal silver ,sparingly.
  13. I'd just be washing/rinsing with cold black tea it is a mild antispeptic(tannic acid) , and , IMO , much more preferable to stuff like angel eyes which is a low dose antibiotic....
  14. the jury's out on these.... perhaps save your money ;)
  15. Or..you can run shadecloth or flyscreen around ...fastened along the total length .
  16. Oh, gosh - poor girl.. so much dead tissue here's hoping she heals up OK
