  1. Certainly doesn't appear normal poor old girl ...perhaps that is why she is homeless?
  2. She spunds like a bitch we had a few years ago.. we got her as she was due to be shot.. her owner could not control her ... she wouldn't listen, chased roos, and was tough and strong.... he had paid a small fortune for her from a breeder well known for providing good dogs. She took a lot of work.. and not all of it gentle , either ... and lived happily with us for the next 11 years. Bo ended up being a very useful and tireless worker in certain jobs.. she was too forceful to use in a lot of situations, but perfect for others. She would fight, she was often bowled over by sheep , she had many days when she 'went on strike' ...but she certainly gave her all when she had a job she liked
  3. May I suggest he has NOT purchased a pup suitable for his (lack of) knowledge/ability. I fear this will end in tears . poor little pup. Silly, impulsive man.
  4. Not if they are meant to do a particular job in life ,and are unsuited to that job! Working dogs are often moved around until a place is found which suits ..we have 2 here who we were given because they didn't fit in their original places ..and have been happily with us for some years now . I like Vickie's comment
  5. 'fluked it' but yes,I am pleased! . Sometimes I do love my old Fuji
  6. Mum's old dog, Sam used to pick his own grapes he just loved 'em! I once had a dog who loved picking/eating wild blackberries ,too
  7. Most of our dogs love apples ..and bananas, and tomatoes.....most fruit, actually Cute photos
  8. pics on your phone of dogs on footpath.... house number..and keep calm , so they don't get the idea to be nasty Best of luck with it - how scary
  9. It's not his choice- BUT you have to educate him /train him to it...not just pick him up, put him in and shut the door It is HIS space- where he gets his treats/food/toys....where his bed is..where he can see you ,but not run around crazy...
  10. He's got a big job ahead of him
  11. His bed may be too hot for him with teh warmer weather - he may be getting into his teenage phase, there may be exciting things happening outside .... AND..he knows if he DOES carry on , his servant will pay him attention
  12. It could be many things, including a form of obsessive-complusive disorder.... so hopefully, after you do consult with the vet.behaviourist, you will have more idea what to do to help your dog
  13. Our dogs yelp a lot when they are chasing things in their dreams- excitement, I guess
  14. Another here who thinks a veterinary behaviourist would be the best possible person to consult. The only one I know of is in Melbourne.... link No doubt there are others
  15. Oh - that's not terribly positive, is it ? Glad you have a plan - when is she doing her follow up visit? Keep us posted.
  16. All the more reason to contact her breeder They are the ones who know what their pups should look like.... and what may happen down the track. There are Dogue folks on DOL, so I guess they will share experiences too for you.
  17. What does her breeder say? have you sent them a photo?
  18. Hi- it's hard when they get old... more frequent checks are good, to catch problems early . Your old girl sounds stressed.. old age can bring all sorts of things-with body bits wearing down and malfunctioning . With the incontinence and general change of habits/restlessness, I suggest your vet sees her soonish. "just Old Age" can be managed to make things easier ... or if this isn't possible, you can make informed decisions. best of luck with her...
