I agree with this. Frequent and thorough brushing/combing .. some added oils , and let her skin get to work! She is a baby, her skin hasn't even had time to work out that it IS skin yet- let alone cope with extra chemicals on it
-
if the dogs have spent most of their lives on that property- with only one or two people handling them- they may need a lot of rehab before they can be placed with strangers.... I agree- more info would be great, so folks know what you are dealing with.

Lovely

Honestly - a puppy who is a bit stressed, and has only been with you for 3 days ..and who has an upset tummy with cause unknown... stay home in the warm tonight

Folks on here seem to use THESE personally , I am lucky living in the bush- always plenty of netting /posts around, and no aesthetic worries

Hi- firstly - the kennel has to be somewhere a pup would WANT to sleep . Does it have the door facing a prevailing cold wind? BAD plan Does it get a bit warmed by the sun now? GOOD plan Can pup see the house /door ? GOOD plan Will the rain come in the door? BAD plan. Put in some of the bedding he has already used, plus a couple of your worn old teeshirts (or an old towel which you sit on for a couple of evenings ) Feed pup in/close to the kennel for a meal each day , and leave a couple of treats inside . walk away and go indoors as pup starts to eat. No talking.. just go. See if pup explores

I wouldn't recommend taking a pup with diarrhoea anywhere public , sorry . It may well be stress related- but what if it is NOT - and he spreads the bug around?
-
Leaving a pup in the laundry (even with paper etc ) is just teaching her that toileting under a roof is OK - and I am not a fan of it find/buy a decent puppy pen so she can be outdoors .. labs are built to be solid and energetic and outdoorsy types ..plus a puppy can not develop its senses/muscles in a laundry ..(well, they CAN, but it means the laundry and anything in there will come off second best) If you do leave her in the laundry- make sure there are no exposed power points/hoses/ cords or anything she can reach ! and I would agree with

Please contact his breeder- they will have the best knowledge of his diet and behaviour.... If you are feeding him exactly what he was getting with the breeder- he should NOT have diarrhoea ... did you take him for a vet check on purchase? Maybe it will be an idea now- so the vet can rule out anything serious. Get his tummy sorted first- then you can concentrate on the rest He will be stressed and anxious .. a bit like you- so take heart - he is but a baby still...

Amen to the attitude of Jersey Bulls. We used to have one here- and on a few occasions he got out of his paddock and we had to scramble onto old carts, or up trees while Otto stood below, pawing and head tossing and drooling.... he was dangerous.Absolutely the handsomest thing tho!

I love this story

I remember once being a city farm for kids... all hand reared stock, etc. They had a few cows and donkeys in a paddock, where we could walk thru and admire the very old stone fences/buildings... I was doing this, and enjoying the afternoon, when I was almost knocked over- had to sidestep quickly and make a hasty exit One of the heifers was 'bulling' and decided to display on me!! Yikes!! Luckily she didn't fully connect- how embarrassing to try & explain Dogs humping your leg is NOTHING!

Rottnbullies- that is lovely! I just had a scout around, and found THIS Maybe it will help ?

I just did this quickly with PICASA- and when I look the gaps are uneven.... but gives you an idea *goes to look at zoombrowser....*

Good news for the old boy!

No idea why it should be so damp-- not as if dogs perspire everywhere I suggest placing several layers of newspaper or thick cardboard under his blankets This will absorb moisture .

yes- and when the dog has learnt to ignore corrections given without correct timing .... it is SO easy to mistime things, and 'meet the dog halfway' ... I have taught Hamlet some amazingly inconvenient and annoying things over teh years

Gsd Vomitting - Watery And Frothy ...
persephone replied to Tilly's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
That seems like a lot of food for one dog .. or do GSD's need a lot? end of sidetrack... I have had/known of dogs who do throw up if they have very empty tummies .. my old Kieran, for one I started giving him one or two bikkies for a late supper.. and he was fine -
Yep .. and using a chain collar sensitively ( it does NOT choke a dog if used correctly. It is the person's technique -or lack of- which chokes the dog )is not a lot different to using a martingale . Once again- being SHOWN by someone who has experience how to use ANY training aid/tool goes a long way to that aid/tool being effective !

Does My Puppy Have Some Sort Of Seperation Anxiety?
persephone replied to aussielover's topic in Puppy Chat
She's a lab- perhaps she would chew it? -
 yep. but think about it. A 14 week old puppy skin is a fragile environment . It has its own oils.flora and structure- it is a living microcosm , basically. Attack it with something like malaseb - which is recommended for all sorts of fungal/bacterial/excess oil -producing disorders ..and the whole chemistry is thrown out of whack. Human babies- are they bathed in anti-dandruff shampoo at a few months/years old? Nooooo.. they have very gentle and pH neutral stuff , because they have sensitive skin! Think of your puppy in the same vein... A puppy has enough to deal with... vaccinations making its immune system work overtime- new environment-new foods, chemicals EVERYWHERE on/in the home ....

Does My Puppy Have Some Sort Of Seperation Anxiety?
persephone replied to aussielover's topic in Puppy Chat
To me it just means that she's awake When sleeping, kidney/bowel function slow right down.... but when awake and lively, then, of course everything is working! Why not shut the crate door at night? Or have you tried this , I can't remember, sorry. If she has the run of the laundry... it's warm, and perhaps light.. then she will want to be doing stuff ... Any reason you don't have her in a crate in your room?
