I would simply suggest, at this stage , put pup away in his room/crate BEFORE you start the whippersnipper etc. Give him a bone/treat- then ignore him. No way will I whippersnip with even our adult, settled dogs outside It is very dangerous ! Vacuuming here means inside dogs/cats are in a seperate area of the house before I vacuum. I just can't be bothered watching/worrying .

Welcome. She is 9 weeks old. She should not have left her mother until at LEAST 8 weeks old, so as to gain confidence and socialisation. I would not say she has seperation anxiety- she is merely a BABY , scared and not knowing what the hell is happening to her. Unfortunately, by walking your baby puppy like this, you are exposing her to all sorts of possible dangers. She is not fully vaccinated, therefore could easily catch a killer disease such as PARVO . She is only a puppy and may not respond to an aggressive dog with the correct doggy manners.... this could prove deadly At this age- frights she gets and things she experiences may well affect how she sees the world ..... Lucky dog! Now perhaps would be a good time to suggest to the owners better ways of stopping fence-jumping....

I suggest you ask some of these questions of the behaviourist You both will be working together- understanding of each other's role is important, I think. I hope this step is a BIG help for you in understanding/managing your little boy. THis is all a worry- and I hope you can video it, or arrange for the behaviourist to actually see it happening- so she knows exactly . Looking forward to hearing updates

How sad - you lost your puppy, and have also been hurt by an apparently unscrupulous person/business. Providing you have receipts etc- Consumer affairs may be of some help- but the people from whom you bought your puppy most probably had no health guatantee or anything I agree with the suggestion to NOT get another pup from these people.

Agree the smaller the pieces- the more likely a pup is to want to swallow it whole larger ( and perhaps a bit softened with a mallet) - they are good .

Get some more panels and fence off your work area? provide big fresh meaty bones for your pup to chew- I bet they are MUCH more attractive than cables

Oh- and if you post this in the training forum- someone may recommend a behaviourist near you .!

A rescue dog with this problem is something you need help understanding and fixing . Well done for asking for help A professional behaviourist , who can witness the behaviour, and your interaction with the dog is the best person to show you ways to manage/correct this.

Why do you 'hope not" ? It works - it surprises the dog, and lets him know that nipping produces something quite unpleasant. That's how it should be Have you seen what happens when a youngster nips an adult dog ... esp. if the adult dog is a bit narky,,, ? They usually only do it once!! They get a good growl or aq snap, or a nip in return ... or the adult may physically push them, hard! By all means use the water bottle- as everything else- each time you say 'stop' and he bites... then he knows you don't mean it! I have never had a nippy pup.They learn at a very young age NOT to put teeth in a human- ever.

I guess the breeder. It was their doing that the litter came into being. It is their responsibilty to research previous generations/ litters / have the breeding stock they own xrayed, blood tested....and then make the decision to mate the two dogs.

Ainsley- you might also want to try putting this the breeders' forum I would just suggest lots of warmth and rest, and a very good quality food- fed often . Socialising & stuff I can't give you much detail on ... but someone will be along to help, I'm sure. Poor little mite ...

yep- I usually put the bowl/s up on something .. as the plastic cone obviously hits the floor well before the dog's nose .. and they cannot comfortably eat/drink Good luck - hope the op fixes the problem!

I agree with this. Frequent and thorough brushing/combing .. some added oils , and let her skin get to work! She is a baby, her skin hasn't even had time to work out that it IS skin yet- let alone cope with extra chemicals on it

if the dogs have spent most of their lives on that property- with only one or two people handling them- they may need a lot of rehab before they can be placed with strangers.... I agree- more info would be great, so folks know what you are dealing with.

Honestly - a puppy who is a bit stressed, and has only been with you for 3 days ..and who has an upset tummy with cause unknown... stay home in the warm tonight

Folks on here seem to use THESE personally , I am lucky living in the bush- always plenty of netting /posts around, and no aesthetic worries

Hi- firstly - the kennel has to be somewhere a pup would WANT to sleep . Does it have the door facing a prevailing cold wind? BAD plan Does it get a bit warmed by the sun now? GOOD plan Can pup see the house /door ? GOOD plan Will the rain come in the door? BAD plan. Put in some of the bedding he has already used, plus a couple of your worn old teeshirts (or an old towel which you sit on for a couple of evenings ) Feed pup in/close to the kennel for a meal each day , and leave a couple of treats inside . walk away and go indoors as pup starts to eat. No talking.. just go. See if pup explores

I wouldn't recommend taking a pup with diarrhoea anywhere public , sorry . It may well be stress related- but what if it is NOT - and he spreads the bug around?

Leaving a pup in the laundry (even with paper etc ) is just teaching her that toileting under a roof is OK - and I am not a fan of it find/buy a decent puppy pen so she can be outdoors .. labs are built to be solid and energetic and outdoorsy types ..plus a puppy can not develop its senses/muscles in a laundry ..(well, they CAN, but it means the laundry and anything in there will come off second best) If you do leave her in the laundry- make sure there are no exposed power points/hoses/ cords or anything she can reach ! and I would agree with

Please contact his breeder- they will have the best knowledge of his diet and behaviour.... If you are feeding him exactly what he was getting with the breeder- he should NOT have diarrhoea ... did you take him for a vet check on purchase? Maybe it will be an idea now- so the vet can rule out anything serious. Get his tummy sorted first- then you can concentrate on the rest He will be stressed and anxious .. a bit like you- so take heart - he is but a baby still...

Amen to the attitude of Jersey Bulls. We used to have one here- and on a few occasions he got out of his paddock and we had to scramble onto old carts, or up trees while Otto stood below, pawing and head tossing and drooling.... he was dangerous.Absolutely the handsomest thing tho!
