Morning, jed- hope you slept restfully last night .. and Morning, the waiting room folks Sunny day here, and I see jed's curtain is partially open to let in the light again. That is so good! Because it's saturday, and because jed is back - I cooked up a heap of things, popped them in an esky to keep them warm, and dashed over. (yes, there are plenty of plates etc) Ok- *puts bowls on table* Sausages, eggs, bacon, tomatoes, and toast . Help yourselves, and enjoy Just make sure jed gets some as well ! *goes off to the chapel to light a candle * -
put the tray/s in another room and use some sort of gate which allows the cat to get thru but not the dog?

Poor Sebbi - now he just has to figure out how to knock over that stool!! Mind you- your kits don't need food out 24/7 ... they will survive quite well with a couple of feeds a day , just like puppies . It makes it easier to keep food away from dogs too!

Hamlet, the beast, is around 7 . He is an absolute guts and thieves the other dogs' food, etc.I have always been proud of him inside tho- as he has never stolen anything off a table, or our plates ... A few days ago, Dougal cat jumped onto a table in the kitchen .. as I had a few cat bikkies in a little bowl to give him later. He knocked down the cat food bag- which Hamlet noticed had opened... and by the time I realised what was going on, Ham was standing amongst paper towel rolls, fruit basket etc.. cleaning up the last of the bikkies. OK- accident. yesterday, I noticed ham with teh cats' little dish- empty... and thought i must have not picked it up off teh floor. Fine. Today- I bought some nice ginger biscuits for us- Mum & I opened the packet this afternoon and had one each with a cuppa. ;) A little while after, I heard a funny noise--- and there was an EMPTY biscuit packet on the floor No excuses this time - Ham was the only one in the kitchen. ;) Now we have to be really vigilant ,and not leave ANYTHING in bags or anywhere he can reach. It's going to be hard after so many good years ! I think he FINALLY realised what was on that table :p Anyone else have late-onset delinquents?

WooHoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JED's BACK! :) Hi Jed - -
x2 impacted/infected anal glands are not nice

I think for problem dogs this may be an option- but how will sending your pup away teach YOU how to train it in the behaviours you want/expect at home?
-
So- what did the vet prescribe to relieve the itches? Poor little mite .
-
Ok- so he IS eating- just not what you want him to eat? I agree with stitch oh- an I presume he does get lots of bones as well as the mush ? perhaps this is his way of telling you that he is a big boy now and likes to chew and work at his food?
-
Nooo... Maybe have a read here? Link to info
-
sounds promising !!. Hope you have found a solution - but it would be nice to know WHY exactly he does it ...
-
What is in teh raw mush meal? Did it have some of the same ingredients as the bought, prepared food? Is he eating the chicken carcasses, etc?

briefly....BYB = someone who breeds two dogs together without doing health checks appropriate for the breed-checking what hereditary diseases may be carried in the bloodlines, etc. who is keen to get money for the pups with very little outlay on their part - who cross breeds dogs intentionally, and who is not registered with any canine control body . That said- and the fact that this forum does not in any way support these sorts of 'breeders' ( and you used the word BREEDER, not 'someone's got an 'oops' litter of Xbreeds) the behaviour you described is that of a puppy I would not take on. A pup doing that sort of thing at 9 weeks could well carry on this beahaviour as he gets older and physically stronger. I don't know a lot of the two breeds used - but would think the cross may produce some 'interesting' behaviours. The 'breeder' should provide you with relevant dietary advice, advice on worming, a certificate from the vet re: vaccination/health check. As said if you do accept this pup- puppy school/obedience school is a MUST - as well as plenty of at-home education/ training. Best of luck with him, and I hope he is a top dog

Anal gland surgery is very painful and messy afterwards, and can lead to incontinence .... like the others, I would change diet .. get a second opinion ,and see how she goes . What is she fed now? How is her digestion?
-
lanabanana- that is a good update to read
-
For my dane X I used a human camp stretcher.. with blankets/pillows etc. It was perfect. Hamlet is using it now....but he doesn't take up much room on it
-
I;ve not seen a pup with nightmares- but knew a young dog once who had shocking nightmares after escaping a housefire by jumping thru a window
-
I hace actually saved a bit of money so I can buy this - have much enjoyed the beta version ..and am now addicted! It makes SUCH a difference ! - esp for those of us with little point/shoot cameras .

Should I Get A Second Opinion?
