  1. Hugs and thoughts. Is there anywhere you can send photos/videos to who may give an opinion? When I saw you had updated I thought the news would be bad , and am happy to read that Sniper's still enjoying life
  2. Your little poodle cross is quite possibly rolling and vocalising in play/ecstasy Just like humans - and most animals ..dogs enjoy a back rub and the feel of different textures and may groan if it feels good . > he's a puppy .. and I suspect he is exploring/stretching/playing let him rub on grass, in clean sand, in autumn leaves ... it's fun, it smells grand, and it sounds as if he likes it Try to not fill him with chemicals if there is not a definite need ..he is but a baby ....
  3. ..it may have all started a couple of years ago ..if so, top marks for persistence!
  4. The breeder needs to be notified, yes. You have taken him to the vet as a matter of urgency ..so now the breeder should be notified ASAP.
  5. At the moment, he IS - he is being completely true to his instinctual male self -and you have allowed it by giving him free reign, unfettered by fences or your presence.
  6. *nods* it used to take us much time & trouble to educate prospective guide dogs in this aspect of their work ..and even then, it appeared to come into play only when they were working.
  7. Y'know , I just re-read this and felt more than a bit sick The injuries which could be inflicted on a tiny in-season bitch by a randy GSD include fear-induced ones, bruises, fractures, bites and who knows what else Not a laughing matter at all.
  8. ..he probably won't. leaving ANY dog to roam on the premise it will return home is being unfair to neighbours and the dog concerned .. Dogs depend on owners to keep them safe.Neighbours rely on others'dogs being contained. Where we live, nearest neighbours' houses are barely within sight - no-one leaves dogs to roam, even here. It is irresponsible.
  9. Oh new week ! Kooka taking over from a seagull , & eating human food scraps !
  10. @swain..cut/paste this General dog discussion
  11. Welcome to DOL . there is a lot of information here ..and many helpful people i will just give you some links to click on , to read , for starters - as I am not a breeder of poms or anything ... This was from 2016, but still has some relevant bits CLICK HERE
  12. So sorry ...dear old man time catches up with everyone - seems Ned filled his years with much love & contentment
  13. Awwww..thanks for the update ... he looks very content , and 'at home'
  14. ..and how fast they grow ......
  15. Accept that the elderly gentleman does not HAVE to put up with a puppy .he deserves to have his space , his peace & quiet .... speaking sternly will never replace all the missing education/socialisation , and may just make him even more anxious . neither of the adults HAVE to play with , or even say hello to the pup ..there is nothing in their contract which says so ;) if you visit ..perhaps leave them home . if pup visits ..leave your boys somewhere of THEIR choosing ..and leave pup in a crate /outside/wherever .It's their home first
  16. DDD does amazing things for her houseful of dear old things ... Their photos show just how they repay every moment and dollar ......
  17. You are being responsible ..and operating from a very careful/caring perspective
  18. I am sorry you are so unhappy . if you feel we have assumed - then maybe we needed more detail so we could work on fact Y'know ... the advice on here is ALL heartfelt . ..even if it feels angry Then it is REALLY from the heart ....... SO many DOL members have been/are involved in rescue , and know what the environments/outcomes are .They do an incredible job with the abused/the elderly and the forgotten . many more are good and ethical breeders with many years of experience of rearing limited numbers of amazing puppies . Some like me do not show , or compete , or operate in the public domain ..we love being around dogs , have a lifetime of experience ,and experiences to share . We have all made mistakes at some time ....or have otherwise been devastated /disappointed . Any suggestions made by me ..reading links, 'advice' - are to maybe help someone make a better-informed decision , hopefully getting the best they can Wishing you and future dog/s fun & friendship
