  1. what a cute little pup OMG!! I do have most of his baby paperwork! He's 7 now and is about 45kg, but he's a tall boy - you can feel his ribs comfortably and when he's wet he looks pathetic. 3 months - 10.2kg (cute!!! his little friend at the moment, a malt x, is only 5kg!) 4 months - 17.7 7 months - 30 9 months - 35.6 14 months - 38.2 15 months - 39.5 19 months - 40 23 months to 4 years 40 - 43.4 I'm just happy that I've found a lot of measurements for him, as others have said you have to go by how your dog is growing and looking to assess if he's at a good weight.
  2. poor little bugger gotta be cruel to be kind here and really cut him back!
  3. I was just lamenting the fact that I even though I took D to the vet to weight in weekly (and now he just LOVES the vet) for his first 18 months, each time I went in they would delete his old weight. The only records I have are the few times he actually visited the vet and I had to pay something - the weight is on the receipt and because most of those were just for heartworm/wormers I threw them out. wouldn't mind seeing some photos of your pup!
  4. :D I was thinking of going back to boring obedience with the D (he hates it) but I'll give this a go!
  5. Well not so much talking stupidly to my dog, but actually doing his voice and responding back to me... meh, we are having a good time, I don't care who sees it
  6. oh she's a little cute.. just a little!
  7. :rolf: Dieter looks that way when he gets a big stick at the park - he really sees it as a challenge he must conquer - hauling half a tree across the oval
  8. Yup pad his kennel up with something - my dog used to have the hessian bag mattresses... he ripped up two all over the lawn and I just threw some old towels inside instead. Now that he's older he's got nicer quilts and towels (I find the hessian makes him smell)
  9. Thanks guys pretty sure it's not seizures as he was around me the whole time and no signs of gastro (normal solid stools the day after) will report back with what the vet says
  10. D (7 year old GSD) has had 3 cases of excessive drooling in... 2 months It's as though someone has turned a tap of clear (as opposed to foamy) drool that leaks from his jowls The first time I thought (still think) he might have been bitten in the mouth by a spider as he was sitting in an odd place in the hallway... and there was a spider near by . I rang the vet straight away and monitored him as directed - checked gums, eyes, heart rate, and aside from drooling uncontrollably he was fine, he ate some dinner and the drooling stopped in about 30 min. The second time I can't think of any trigger for the drooling, it didn't go on for very long at all. Last night it happened again, and went on for almost 2 hours - he was still bright and lively, ate dinner, searched around for his treat (which I gave him to take his mind of the drooling because he would come by and look at me like, 'why can't I stop dribbling everywhere' :sad face: ) and all times I make sure he has plenty of water to rehydrate afterward - his pillows are soaked, but he doesn't seem particularly thirsty! Has any one experienced this or have any ideas as to what it could mean? I was going to discuss with a family vet friend today, but he left before I could corner him so I might call him later this week... I'm going to make some notes as to what he has eaten in case this happens again, but as for last night he had some curried rice, roast chicken and dry food (courtesy of mum's leftovers) and would never usually eat this so it doesn't link with the 2nd time... The only thing in common is that it happens in the evenings... and maybe exclusively on a Saturday.. Friday's dinner consists of mince and sardines but to have a reaction 24 hours later... ;)
  11. oops I have tomorrow off too! But Dad and I are doing doggy things!
  12. Dieter understands what the general routine is, but doesn't get put out if I'm home late/don't walk coz of rain/have visitors over/go to bed late - actually he'll put himself to bed! or if he gets babysat etc. the one time he does get funny is when I sleep in on weekends and he gets fed later than 7:20am - even if I give him the freedom to come in and out of the house (he gets bones for breakfast) he basically won't eat, you think he'd be hungrier, but no ;) I wouldn't say D's aggressive, but he's dominant
  13. D has so many toys I can actually rotate them on colour alone! (he has blue this week) I try to make sure there is a hard chew one, a squeaky one, soft one, and tugging one when I mix them around
  14. not very strict muslims; eating hotdogs and touching dogs!
  15. good luck with your boy, the disorientation is a bit concerning - might be good to ask a vet to check his hearing/eyes my shep is 8 and still very much a pup - he is greying around the muzzle, but he had grey there at 18months He still carries on like an idiot - no drama with his joints and is still very sprightly - gets up straight away when asked, jumps on my high bed and over logs etc... but he's led a very comfy life

    Must See

    haha love them!
  17. I taught D with a similar method, but didn't go big, just used his (already large) toy basket I did plan to teach him to pick up 'rubbish'.. and have a spare pedal bin, might have to drag it out for winter
  18. As you are new to clipping I wouldn't suggest the wet clip, your better off going with some very short blades, finding and entry point and using scissors to slice the matts down the back of the dog as you clip. The idea of clipping a wet dog is that the hair is stretchy/springy enough that you can often go longer than if you were to clip dry, you focus on cleaning close the skin with your hydrobath nozzle and then clip. With dogs being so matted you aren't able to wash them effectively. You can clip a wet dog with a blade longer and then re washing the dog, dry and do your finish. Cordless clippers and blade facing down at all times - a lot of american salons do this so have a google.
  19. my brother has warned me about this doco don't think I'll watch it today....
  20. isn't that what the accounting MYOB stands for anyway!?
  21. aww they are so clever I was trying to get the D to watch the Shepherds... but he only became interested in the TV when I put Glee on!
  22. :D I have a preference for carpet 1) because when a dog drops hair at least it is hidden in the carpet and doesn't end up tumble weeding 2)I spend a lot of time on the floor I've got some sythetic carpet stuff atm and it hurts my knees with it's strange fibers, but I can't afford to replace it yet I vacuum twice a week with a GSD, if I had tiles/slate like I did previously I would have to vacuum daily and he'd probably be outside a lot more.
