  1. so it was a slow week at work...
  2. hrm... did the math and D (7yr GSD, 45kg) is about $3-$4 a day...... but why am I always poor? oh well, good to see he isn't really costing me an arm and a leg, I'd hate to go out the back and shoot him
  3. awww look at his tail!!! there is a borzoi in lady and the tramp
  4. sardines and mackeral are great for dogs I give my GSD a 2 tins a week. do a search on BARF in the forum and you'll find lots of threads with good ideas
  5. was she named after the twilight characters? she's very sweet
  6. I just switched from heartguard to interceptor - D had his last heartguard this arvo and I looked in the pack - no stickers!! I used to have a heartguard magnet clock that would beep after 28 days.... usually at 10pm at night even though he'd get his chew (and the reset) in the afternoons.... might try and find it
  7. this is my GSD at 45kg, he has a waist which you can see dry, but when he's wet it looks very small - he also tall
  8. I love their little angry and mischievous eyebrows
  9. I hope after all the work the owners will maintain it! hrm... I wonder where my les pooch brushes went......
  10. I've had a bad experience with a pet cremation service and it is one of the reasons why I won't consider them (or other cremation services) in the future
  11. go with your preference to clip and keep it short my friend, who I have to say sucks at grooming - but loves her dogs, moved out to a property earlier this year - GR got a sh-tload of grass seeds and combined with daily dam swimming was a complete mess - sibe has had his belly shaved
  12. how cute! he's all feed and ears, love that stage! I like the 3rd photo the best
  13. very cute my GSD does fine with beef - haven't actually heard that advice before. He mostly gets roo, beef, chicken and sardines/mackeral does your dry food have wheat in it? often grain allergies will make the dog itchy, but if he's not itching don't worry about it
  14. hehe I love it when what I was going to say K9 says for me ... means I'm on the right track
  15. appointment time it'd be pretty irresponsible to have a waiting room full of sick, and probably cranky, animals waiting for hours to see a vet
  16. great shots! She has the same look on her face as when I offer D the last cm of yoghurt from the tub - I call it the 'yogi face' hehehe
  17. My (then 6) yr old Shep has a half a sphere lump halfway around his ribcage, hmm it isn't really mobile and is a fatty lump the vet said we could remove it, but dogs that get fat lumps are prone to getting them and more will just pop up - if he has to go under for anything else, like another cut foot, they are happy to remove it then. I check it regularly and so far it hasn't changed shape/size - must be ~5months now
  18. I've used WAHL (what I own), oster, and shear magic - which are cheaper blades, all seem to hold up pretty well
  19. with regards the finish I haven't found much difference ceramic are supposed to stay cooler longer, so if you are nose to the grindstone then they might be the way to go and obviously metal won't chip/smash when you drop them - not that you should get into that habit anyway are metal cheaper? they are the ones I personally own, so I imagine they probably are....
  20. hehe Vickie - he has mastered toys in the box, with a smaller box, everyone loves watching that trick how would I go about teaching him to circle something? I might make it a chair instead of the box for now eta: thanks for the video link - they always give me good ideas for tricks
  21. :D My new BBQ came in a giant box, so aside from myself hiding in the box away from the D - what else can I do with it? He's happy to jump in, lay down, and have the box closed for a few seconds - I was thinking of building around this and do a trick called 'surprise!' where he covers himself in the box and on the command surprise jumps up .... but not sure where to start should I back chain it so he's jumping up and then work on him using knotted ropes to close the box? He's never really pulled on a rope before (aside from tug games) any advice is appreciated or alternative tricks
  22. aww what fun - makes me want to take the D to the beach :p
