  1. My goodness gracious me, this is the RSPCA doing this? Oh surely not, it must be a fake memo. Another nasty little rumour ... yes, that must be it. ;) But how is all this going to affect the morale of their staff? They will have no strays to euthanase and put through their horrid "temperament tests". Oh no, wait a minute, they will be rounding up all the dog breeders instead. "There ya go, into that crate now!" Yes, that should be much more satisfying. No staff morale problem to worry about at all. Ah, the world is such a jolly old place to be. Souff Very good.
  2. R$PCA NSW don't take in strays, but they won't say no to a donation.
  3. Hi bails, Welcome to DOL and I'm very sorry for you, before buying did the breeder show you the Hip and Elbow scores for both parents. This is still no guarantee but it gives you an idea of what the parents are like, you should have been given copies of the Hip and Elbow scores when you took your pup home. Both mine came from good breeders and are healthy, meaning I was lucky. I had another breed with a serious health problem and the breeder gave me the cold shoulder, so I know how you feel.
  4. I've been to several Breed Surveys run by the GSDL and I didn't see any large dolls used
  5. Good on you for saving his life, GSD's are very Intelligent and he'll be house trained in no time all the best.
  6. How do they do a behavioural assessment with an 8 week old GSD puppy I certainly wouldn't take the RSPCA's opinion of a GSD pup of unknown parentage how it will turn out as an adult in regard to health and temperament, they wouldn't have a clue, but they are happy to palm it off to someone regardless Black Bronson, Haven't you seen the R$PCA Temp tests on TV, Large doll shoved in front of terrified little dog if dog barks FAIL PTS. Throw ball, dog chases ball FAIL PTS. Young dog too playful and playbites FAIL PTS. Their temp tests are a bloody joke. :p I too would like to know how they would temp test an 8wk old GSD pup, they might use the "too protective" card.
  7. That's exactly what happens and the "protective" GSD was probably a fear biter caused by poor genetics in the first place. The R$PCA Inspector had the dog for 10mths with his own family, so if the GSD was a fear biter any fool would realize this as the GSD was an adult. But this boofhead Inspector took the word of another boofhead who had this poor dog 5 minutes :D and the poor dog was PTS. This just goes to show the R$PCA knows nothing about dogs or dog breeds because GSD's are very protective of the family they love.
  8. Lovely boy, the pound is no place for a GSD.
  9. Because other breeds including GSD's are being targeted, thanks to the R$PCA. Sorry Tarope, but your arguement is as sensible as me saying that all owners of GSDs, Rottis, Staffies, Pits etc etc are Bogan idiots who only have this type of dog because it looks tough or they are vicious. The RSPCA are not the only people pushing BSL, and they certainly aren't responsible for getting Legislation through. Target the politicians who are Legislating. Unfortunately, the media will always report on a sensational attack and whip the public into a frenzy. Surely you should be targeting the media because they are highlighting the attacks? Or what about the hospitals which record the statistics on dog attacks and then release that information? Why aren't they at fault that these breeds are being targeted? And potentially putting other breeds on the lists, because the statistics will eventually show that the JRT or Golden Retriever are also responsible for attacking people? Or are the RSPCA the only bandwagon you have to push? And you can't see how one eyed you are and are determined to keep bad mouthing them? For the record - I don't have an opinion about the type of people who own these breeds of dogs - I was merely demonstrating how stupid some statements can be. The R$PCA is responsible for BSL it's that simple. Do you work for the R$PCA ? Every day more and more people are coming to realize what the R$PCA is really like and not liking what they see.
  10. This was one of the lowest acts the R$PCA have done to date, poor Clifford a Pitbull never had a chance. The R$PCA said please donate as much as you can to help poor Clifford and raised about $3500, then announced this poor dog had suddenly become aggressive or some BS to that effect and PTS poor Clifford and kept the money. Why was poor Clifford PTS ? Because the R$PCA does not rehome Pitbulls that's why. Shame, Shame, Shame R$PCA. img004.pdf
  11. All dogs large and small should have good manners, but that's upto the owners and lets face it some owners should not be allowed to own a dog. When walking my GSD a little malt ran out wanting to bite my boy, had I let him go the malt would have been ripped to shreds. The stupid owner comes out and abuses me. If my boy got hold of the malt, the Media would say poor little dog mauled by vicious GSD At all breeds training people with small dogs don't realize their little dog can be just as aggressive as large dogs.
  12. My GSD girl loves to lick me, now I won't get cancer you beautie.
  13. Because other breeds including GSD's are being targeted, thanks to the R$PCA.
  14. Mr Coulter said the pound then allowed him to take Royce home and wished them well. If the council did that to me I'd make them wish they'd never heard of me. This poor man's dog should never been taken in the first place.
  15. img004.pdf So the R$PCA ACT is not the same and rehome Pitbulls, read this. Note where it comes from.
  16. So the R$PCA ACT is not the same and the rehome pitbulls do they, read this.
  17. No. ACT RSPCA is not 'the same'. Such generalisations are much more likely to damage the local scene here than to help. I repeat, no BSL here. No breed bias in the RSPCA. An RSPCA that rehomes APBT. And that certainly rehomes GSD. One place in the country that it isn't a problem, and people that don't live here still can't leave it alone. R$PCA Australia is the Governing body and control the states yes ? Well what they say goes isn't this right ? I didn't mention BSL, but it was the R$PCA who screamed and whinged to the Federal Government and anyother fool who would listen that we need BSL as it will stop dog attacts. The R$PCA does not rehome Pitbulls, they kill them and any other breed they don't like. :D Go to their web site and look under dangerous dog policy. They even claim pitbulls are not suitable as pets, this coming from an organization who wouldn't know one end of the dog from the other.
  18. High price for freedom BY RODERICK SHAW 13 Apr, 2010 09:09 AM ROYCE the dog has come home to his Blacktown owner, Jock Coulter, seven weeks after his removal by Blacktown pound. ``I'm ecstatic; I just felt elation when told I could take him home,'' Mr Coulter said. ``He's my best friend; the only one happy to see me every day.'' Royce, a 13-year-old mastiff-cross, was seized by Blacktown pound officers who said he was a pit bull and therefore a dangerous dog. However, Mr Coulter said Royce was not a pit bull, nor had he ever attacked anyone or another animal. Blacktown councillor and veterinarian, Russ Dickens, said he had treated the dog for years and had never heard any complaints about him. Mr Coulter also said he was told he had to build a backyard enclosure for Royce, which he said cost him a great deal of money. But last week he had his dog professionally assessed for its breed. ``She [the assessor] said Royce was half mastiff and half ridgeback,'' he said. He said the pound then allowed him to take Royce home and wished them well. Mr Coulter said he was happy to have his dog home, but unhappy about what had happened to him. ``Look at the costs I've incurred building that cage in my backyard,'' he said. ``I still don't know what Royce is supposed to have done. ``It's ground me down; I can't say what it's done to me.'' Mr Coulter said he was worried the same thing could happen to another dog owner. Cr Dickens has asked Blacktown Council officers for an explanation of the affair. The Sun contacted Blacktown Council for comment, but it could not reply in time for publication. In the meantime, Mr Coulter is dismantling the cage once meant for Royce. ``I'll keep a bit of it for a garden shed,'' he said.
  19. R$PCA UK murdered 12 GSD's with a bolt gun, :D enraged the whole country. A person from GSD rescue UK said the R$PCA didn't even try to find homes or even contact them. ;) A NSW R$PCA Inspector seized and nursed back to health a GSD, kept the dog with his own family for 10mths and gave the GSD to a woman who had lost her dog. About 8 weeks later the woman claimed the GSD was too protective of her so this R$PCA Inspector put to sleep this poor dog. :D the R$PCA had the hide to say it was a wonderful story. A couple of years ago the R$PCA claimed they had all these GSD's, but when you go to the shelter the GSD's are not there because they're fertilizer. It doesn't mater which country the R$PCA is in because are all the bloody same.
  20. Royce back with his owner how wrong is BSL. I wonder if Mr Coulter will be speaking to a lawyer given what Blacktown council has put him through, might make council think twice about doing this again.
