Thank you! Off to google flehman reaction. I wonder why Stevie has just started to do it?
-
I had a foster that had chattering teeth when excited, and sometimes I've seen it when dogs are dreaming, but what is it about? I've just noticed Stevie doing it - just the last couple of days, and she's six - at that most exciting time when I'm about to pick up the food bowls to take out.

Nsw guide dogs also talk to seeing eye dogs about reports like this. It might just be a matter of having the handler and dog have a training update and checkup. The associations are very understanding, from my experience of reporting a dog I was concerned about (its general health and toileting).

Let's test her tennis ball skills! I could have sold Jodie five times today in marrickville park, even the cav x beagle owner was fascinated by her defiance of gravity and expressive face :) -
What Would Your Friends And Family Do With Your Dogs?
Katdogs replied to Alyosha's topic in General Dog Discussion
If any tragedy took me and my husband, I really hope my dad, my neighbour across the road, the best rescuer I know, and if necessary OH's cousin would all be involved. It's just a hope so I should talk to them all. I want the Maggot pts with respect, and Stevie and Jodie to be cared for as individuals and have access to good couches and tennis balls. Dunno what to do with the cat, maybe gentle pts too by SASH so her orijen effects can be studied. If it ever needs to happen, I've promised Stevie a last meal of a BBQ chook with bones and stuffing and a packet of mint slices. -
Congratulations on the new addition! Lots of cute fluff in your house WS and I love that Charlie is expecting all due respect and mostly getting it

Ok I've got my tickets! Usually I don't win anything but last two lucky door prizes I was in came to me, and they say things come in threes!

Well said Mita (and Dachshunds really are scary). My three dogs work as a team. The kelpie is always on alert. She knows what is happening around our whole suburban block and will let us know if anything is different and especially if it's wrong. She selects when to be very loud. Stevie is big and black and nobody will open the front door if they see her teeth glowing behind it. She is very intelligent and listens to Jodie and if the situation warrants she adds her big booming bark. She is a Lab cross but will put herself between me and any person she doesn't trust. She also barks on command. The little white fluffy will bite anyone anytime and particularly any threat to me (or his food). He has quite a piercing bark. If all three go loud ag the same time, the neighbours will look out for me. This may not suit the OP obviously, but I feel safe with my good dogs around.

Wonderful prizes! But if I win one collar for Stevie I'll need to order another one for Jodie, and the leads!

Big Dogs And Injuries/ Health Problems
Katdogs replied to wantsapuppy's topic in General Dog Discussion
Totally not a giant but a niggling factor with my Stevie is that she's bigger than I can carry. I could get her into the car at home (I think, but neighbours would help). If we go to a local park with bush walks where we're totally alone and there are snakes, I would not be able to get her to a vet without help. There are no ambulances or emergency numbers for dogs. -
Nope, not a Lab. A Lab would have eaten the lot and probably some plastic or clips off the packets. Silly funny Goldie and stupid owner!

It's all in the attitude!

It's great to read that Charlie's as tough as ever! He's a very special boy indeed. Thanks for the update! Jodie is 15kg and had an 80kg Mastiff grovelling at her once. He didn't get the ball off her!

We tried just the plain dark chocolate block last night. All gone now!
-
Chocolate covered Spelt liquorice! The dark chocolate covered strawberries are amazing! They're freeze-dried strawberries but the texture isn't dry or squidgy like other berries. You don't get many in the box but they're all good
-
Available from... Junee liquorice and chocolate factory! That's where we got ours, on our road trip! Www.greengroveorganics.com.au (I think). I don't like liquorice but I love chocolate!

Dogs Nsw Day - We're Trying Herding Tomorrow!
Katdogs replied to Katdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think I saw everything except recognisable DOLers! We need a signal of some sort :) I'm NOT a pit bull/am staff sort of person in general, although I've met more nice ones than not-nice, but a really good SBT is always welcome here. My neighbour breeds great dogs and they are very funny little monkeys with their talking and smiles! -

Zac is ok, sniffing is quite polite compared with many entire males who meet Stevie. She's desexed but apparently attractive anyway If we come on a Sunday my husband can come too, so I hope to see you at herding soon too! T nice idea but the traffic is too hard to the rescue! ETA Stevie has crawled into Maggot's warmest bed and curled up for sleep, even though we're still making dinner. Being (mostly) good for a few hours is hard work! -
Thanks everyone. Stevie is 38kg so we gave her one piece and she loved it!

The Poodles in their legwarmers and booties looked so dainty! But it was definitely a better day to show the Chesapeake Bay and Flat-coated retrievers that I met near the ring. -

We walked down towards the herding but all I could see were wet sheep huddled together. I didn't realise it was 'herding on request' and you were all huddled under the cover until I met someone at the food stall getting coffee to warm up - she had a nice blue dog who was very interested in my beautiful Stevie :) It was late in the afternoon and the herding area was like a bog. -

Stevie and I had a FANTASTIC time! We came home covered in mud but with new collars for the girls with their names and phone number stitched on! Lots of food samples and brochures for all sorts of interesting things. Stevie was very well behaved with all the dogs she met, even the rude Tibbies - I didn't know Tibbies hate big black dogs, but I cuddled a Tibby pup anyway :) There were amazing dogs and friendly breeders to chat to. We had a good talk to a Lab breeder at the combined retriever club stall. We also had a go at Rally-o - yet another sport where Stevie could be a superstar if I could only tell left from right! The trainer was very impressed with Stevie's focus, until I revealed the bit of ham and cheese toastie in my hand! Our only hiccup was having to buy a vegetarian pig's ear because Stevie helped herself. She was bored with the puzzle toys and I was still trying to work one out when I realised what she'd done. We'll go again next year. I'm also keen to take Jodie to EP for herding! ETA Inevitablue did I meet you when I was buying my toastie? VERY handsome blue dog.
