  1. Ok, my Wahl KM just died in the middle if clipping Bruno. He looks, well, like not finished. I was immediately thinking of getting another Wahl, but I remember people here talking about cordless clippers recently. I have few questions about those. How long can they work with one charge? Is it possible to use it like corded one as well? What brands are recommended? And whatever else you know about them, please. I have to hide Bruno in the meantime, somebody might call RSPCA for abuse.
  2. One possibility is to give him frozen bones. Most dogs would eat them slower.
  3. Coming in cycles would suggest a parasite. I agree that whipworm fits the symptoms. Your vet should probably look at the poo sample. Have in mind that in between those episodes there actually may not be parasites in the poo.
  4. Well, thanks everybody. I gave Bruno some lamb meaty bones and he gobbled them up in no time. :D Maybe he simply didn't like them before, dog knows.
  5. Thanks guys, I will try some lamb flaps. I want to introduce some variety in the bone department.
  6. Well, after he eats the meaty part and leaves the bone, I would leave it for an hour or two and after that I would remove it because it's hot here and I don't want to attract flies and other pests. Pretty soon he started to hide them so I can't find them. I know they are not eaten because they show up after few days or even weeks smelling you can imagine how bad here in the tropics.
  7. I tried pretty much all of them. I think you may be right with bones being too hard. Aren't poodles what they called soft mouthed dogs?
  8. He does like raw meat and all other stuff, he just doesn't like other bones than chicken. And he actually hates dry food. At the beginning, I tried just what you suggested, combination of raw and dry and he wouldn't touch dry for days. He is not a big eater, which is new to me. My previous dog was Airedale terrier, and she would eat greasy blanket if there was one near.
  9. My dog would eat only chicken bones, like frames. When I give him any other bones he simply plays with them gnaw a bit, but wouldn't eat them. Very rarely he would actually east beef brisket bones, all other never. He also gets mince, fish, yoghurt, some small amount of veggies, sometimes fruit, but he is not really crazy about it. The questions is, are chicken bones enough for the raw meaty bones concept? I can't make him to it other bones, what else can I do?
  10. Or do this, in this case the clippers are bottom side up.
  11. When you hold your clippers with top side up, push that button and press the blade down. It should release it.
  12. I must look like a nerd. Forget the whole thing.
  13. You just answered my question. Mixture of antibiotics and antifungals. So antifungals and antibiotics are not the same thing. Wikipedia Medline Plus Medical encyclopaedia
  14. Aren't antibiotics for bacterial infections? Yeast is a fungus AFAIK.
  15. Hey, my dog's name is Bruno. Great minds think alike... Here he is. As you can see he's brown. Bruno is totally appropriate.
  16. I never air dry Bruno. I like his coat curly. And more important, he gets wet like twice a day, it would be a full time work. Question though, do these force dryers use hot/warm air? If they do, that's another reason why I wouldn't do it, it's already too hot here.
  17. As everybody said, fresh chicken frames are quite good, the bones are soft. However, I do think that cooked bones can break down slowly and maybe even leave some residual mass in the intestines. It's almost pure calcium and can get hard and dry and not get out with the poo.
  18. You would need to report them to the authorities, as it is illegal to do this in Australia! Apparently it's illegal in mince, but not in other meat products. NSW legisltation
  19. Can you recommend someplace to get my clippers' blades sharpened. I have both steel and ceramic ones. Thanks
  20. He may be in pain. Sometimes they react like that when they are hurting. All the best for the old boy.
  21. In my opinion homemade is fine, but cooked is not. Raw meat with bones should be the most of the diet (like 80%). The vegetables about 10% of the bulk, if included at all (there are different opinions on this), should be raw, but minced (in the blender or something like that). I normally mix small proportion of vegies with minced meat, but not always. The rest should be offal, maybe some fish and an egg now and then. That's one way to do it. And there are many more. Cheers
