  1. btw. I just had to lock him up. I just watched him go nuts for five minutes running from one spot to the next. Stupid bats just sit there and eat the fruit.
  2. I was thinking that. I have access to one, however I am not sure how that would go over living near the inner city (I am at Hamilton) I can just imagine my neighbour leaning over to grab some oranges off the tree and getting a zap.
  3. As soon as the sun goes down, the fruit tree next to my fence attracts possums and fruit bats. Ronin goes MAD over them and all we hear is him trying to get at them. My issue is that he is nearly getting himself up and over the fence. The more he does this, the closer he gets and I am worried about him getting himself over. This is a 6ft fence without a foothold but he is nearly there. Short of locking him up at dusk (he does get locked up at 10pm or so each night) - any ideas on how I can try and convince him to not scramble at the fence? I am worried I'll lose him and hearing it is driving me barmy. All ideas appreciated.
  4. Scarier still... I wonder how many morons read that and go, "Ullright, Lits go ind guv thus a go" That is terrible
  5. Hehehe... I know what you are going through. Jack is the same. Can take him to the beach and he runs and runs and runs... full speed, every direction. Be there for over an hour and he is still going as fast as he did on his arrival. Put him in the car, go home... and he will do laps of the yard. Jack is three and a half, you would think that by now he would be slowing down. It hasn't happened yet though. I will watch this thread with interest and see what feedback you get ETA: My dogs are not fed on routine or exercised on routine as I don't like them to bark if I am late. Jack has always had weight issues until the last couple of months. Age may help... I am waiting for him to become "old".
  6. I was going to write something here having had two Pointers killed by the same car back in 2003. But what does it matter... argue with a fool and a passerby may become confused.
  7. I have a list a mile long of people who want my orange suit. It will be staying with me until I bust the seams I have given away many items to other show people though. Including a $200 Cue Design jacket and a zampatti top that I wore once and it cost $245. I bought them when I was 90kg, now I am 58kg, the were just taking up room in my closet. There are a few show people who really enjoy when I have my wardrobe clearances... the next one will happen in a couple of months.

    Zac Attack

Oh Ish... sorry to hear this. Sleep well to Zac, Suzi and Saki.
  9. I wouldn't do it everytime or even all that often... usually just for shows... BUT even saying that... I am about to go to HEAPS of shows so I will probably end up buying something expensive dog shampoo to waste on him... Lol! Cheers
  10. You will find PLENTY of show people who wash their dogs with human hair products and even Eucalyptus wool wash... as long as it isn't every few days you will be fine Cheers
  11. In order of preference... Bonnie Nutrience Supercoat I have always found Supercoat to be a reliable backup for adults and puppies alike. Have also raised a litter on Supercoat and they had no problems with it. As already stated... if it works for the dog and it works for you, then use it. Cheers
  12. I was VERY happy today with our results... For those who don't know... Missy is back with me for a coupe of weeks (5 year old overweight, lazy ENGLISH pointer girl)... Our entries were incorrectly listed with the GSP's so we were scored with them and there were about 10 GSP's entered... AND Missy came SECOND!!!!! (Jack? still don't know... but not as good as Missy ) How impressed am I? How much does she love her lure coursing? (Apologies to KitKat, Cocker Poppins and Molasseslass who were subject to her constant barking and howling to get at the lure) Very happy here :D Good day and saw some GREAT runs by so many... and not necessarily the dogs.. ;) Cheers
  13. I have seen Wyatt in the flesh and what a lovely dog he was. Sorry for your loss.
  14. I worm the family, I worm the dogs, I worm the cat... And if people are living with us... they get wormed too... You should see their faces when they get told they're getting wormed! HA HA! And we all take worming treatments designed for the right species
  15. Harminee... not embarrassing at all... you have joined the club along with Jintanut and myself... depending on the situation, sometimes it is just easier!
  16. I have done a few different things... I own a hydrobath but it lives at my grandparents house five minutes away... so I will head over there sometimes... in summer, I will often hose the dogs in the yard and bath them there... then in winter it is in my bath (although the Dane is now too big for this) Sometimes it is "Jinta Style" and in the shower with them ( You're not alone Mandy!), sometimes I am outside of the shower (usually if only bathing one dog). Laundry tub gets used for babies. Just thinking about it... the dane is too big for anything now except a hose in the backyard... shoudl probably think about getting some hot water hooked up to the hose for winter... Cheers
  17. I give my dogs the occasional tinned salmon or tuna(when I feel rich) and tinned sardines... They LOVE whole, fresh sardines too (but my cat doesn't )... they don't really like other types of fish... I tried a few but they just didn't like it as much... Seafood is good for dogs but I will leave it for the nutrition and diet people to say why exactly as I am not an expert and not about to become one ;) I will leave it for the pro's! Cheers
  18. Excellent will try... is there a ratio that works best? Cheers and thanks:)
  19. I was just wondering... apart from divetalact and wombaroo...what other supplements have people been successful with (homemade or otherwise)... The new litter has one weak baby and he could do with a little "personalised care and feeding"... Cheers
  20. My boy Shiko...(he is on my avatar)...he and Echo were hit by the same car, but the difference is I had a chance to say goodbye to Echo as she lived through the night... Shiko died before I saw him... I couldn't bare to see his shattered body as Echo lay dying beside him in the vet surgery and the next time I saw him I was burying him at sunset the next afternoon. I never had the chance to say goodbye and it tears me up inside... ahh, you made me cry now! I miss him soooooo much, he was the biggest lap dog and the biggest sook, but so clever and sweet. He gave me the best cuddles. They died on November 30th and Decmeber 1st last year with Shiko exactly one week off his first birthday, and the last thing Shiko heard me say was "stop barking, you mongrel dogs!" (playing with Echo), before I hopped in the car to go and buy them food for the next week. I came home to people on my doorstep telling me what happened... It is okay to miss Chewy, and talk to your hubby. Mine is going through a phase of ignoring the current dogs as he doesn't want to get attached again (Shiko used to take him rollerblading - up hills)... I talk to him sometimes until he shuts it down... we all miss both of them... but Shiko was my boy... Always thinking of you Shiko! Chewy, you will still love as much even when the pain goes away. Cheers ps... my new puppy 'Cool Dog' was born on what would have been Shiko's first birthday... I think it was meant to be...
  21. :D What a lovely tribute to your Beryl. Obviously not just a 'sheep'!
