Thanking you all. This has been a huge surprise for me. I honestly thought my work would of flopped big time. So its def a proud moment. and YES, a huge thanks to Alicia for being such a awesome friend. As you all know she kicked butt and won this Album category last year, so I am so happy to be encourage by talent like hers. I havent put my images up to load them on here. 5. Thanks, It looks fantastic, nice for a dog shoot.
  6. Some nice work in here. I think so many of you are dong extremely well. Ash, gah that maternity pic is so frickin fantastic. Where was it taken or is it a secret location... My most fav of Ralph 2011, prob more as they are recent then the best. The little guy really has stepped up to double camera duties this year, such a trooper. Been a bit slack this 2010 with the photography. Will step it up 2011.
  7. You know I was joking, I really appreciate you giving me the time out right now. and the RD team, I am so in!! I think I might buy some skates. ETA: Kirisiln I think you have improve immensely. Keep it up.
  8. Oh look at this.... next best thing comes along and I am cast away like a piece of rubbish! Its has been a good/weird year. For me was my awards and making a healthy $$$ selling my images to a few large International corporations. Also making some good friends with Huga and Alicia. I must admit though, I have lost a bit of interest in photography or maybe burnt out..... 2011 might be the year to learn pottery. I reckon I could make a mean salad bowl.

    Harry

Im so sorry Huga and I know how you are hurting right now. Harry was one cool little guy peppered with a whole lot of crazy. He will be missed on my visits and even in your exceptional photography. RIP Harry.
  10. When I get my pet pig (once we have our property) you can come for a holiday and photograph it :D :D you have yourself a deal!
  11. Are you talking domestic animals or wild animals? Off the top of my head, Serena is the best domestic animal photographer that I know and she's currently building a strong reputation in the photographic community. I can't think of anyone else right now but let me get back to you on that... Non domestic really :D Ash thats very kind but I dont thinks so. The best untouchable visionaries in domestic photography is William Wegman and Tim Flach. When I grow up I want to be just like them. ;) Tim Flach does some non domestic too and you could look at Rachel Hale. She is not my thing but she has some very cute pigs and horses etc if this is the non domestic you are after. Its studio work though. If I am not mistaken she started out as Anne Geddes assistant and then broke off into animals so you can see a strong Anne Geddes influence. :D I would love to photograph a pet pig.... how cool would that be!!
  12. LOL great minds think alike.... pricing
  13. I know DOL has taught us all a great love for Photography. I see alot of us all breaking off and finding our feet, starting websites, trying to actually make a go of photography. One thing that concerns me is "pricing" and what we/you value your work at. Pricing ourselves too low can cheapen the industry. There are photographers out there that this is their livelihood, incredible artists that have perfected their game and should be paid what they are worth. If we as photographers dont price ourselves we could cause a industry to turn belly up. If you feel you cant or shouldn't be charging the right fee then think seriously about your product you are offering and should you be offering it? You have to stand behind your work, know its good and worth the $$$. There is more to photography then just taking a great photo. Owning a digital camera doesn't make you a photographer. Please dont think.... Rocco's getting petty. Its not at all. I am in no way class myself up there with the skilled photographers and the majority of my photography income does not come from "clients", its generated in other ways. But having spent time with some of the best out there, watching them all getting frustrated with the industry, I think it all helps if we start off getting it right.
  14. I hope not.... :D Thanks, Red is so awesome. I painted him and he stood there all sleepy from the therapeutic motion of the brush. Then I pointed at the bambo with "in you go" and he walked in and stood there. He is so fabulous and I am so blessed to own such easy going dogs.
  15. Helen, those cameras do look like some fun. Pretty amazing what you can achieve with them too.
  16. Wegman and Man Ray are my heros. Love his work. Another photographer I have come across with a job I am working on is Rachael Hale. NZ Photographer (all the best photographers come from here... ). I think she is the Anne Geddes of the animal world. Its worth a look not my sort of thing though, but I so admire her business set up.
  17. yep for sure I like, nice job. Sad yes, but unfortunately this goes on in our world and how thought provoking he has made this. Here is another great series of photos. The little dog kennel is so cool not to mention the old lady and her lab. more cool stuff
  18. Very dark and gritty. What a eye he has though dont you reckon? Most of us would of trashed half of those shots but he saw something different and made it art.
  19. I am always looking for photographers work that has something different and unique then the normal pet photography you see everyday. I stumbled across Giacomo Brunelli and his work is so incredible, haunting and mysterious. Just WOW!! I would hang all his work on my walls. Take a look. If anyone else has stumpled across great photographers post the link because Im sure we all love the inspiration.
  20. She is gorgeous Nik and luckily her mum is pretty spiffy with a camera to capture her brilliantly while growing.
  21. wow what a strange but wonderful dog. Know any of these in Queensland that want to be photographed, awesome subject.
  22. I was just viewing your work on flickr. You're a mad photographer Sam. I am a huge fan of yours. You've really come into your own unique style. Good work.
  23. That chart is so well done and we can all relate. Great post Ash. Your stage one gave me a laugh. Its all about smoke and mirrors. Im not sure what stage I am at yet. Still figuring it out. I know where I want to be as a photographer it's just getting there. I didnt think Raz was having a go at you either Ash. I think you would be one of the last self obsessed, precious photographer I know. But plently of the above around.
  24. @ the stays. Mind you, Red could learn them a little better at times. Im not game enough to let him off lead in wide open places yet. He needs way more obedience school. Thanks for the comments guys.
