  1. They are the same thing: WA Pest Animals ETA: Although that says they are not present in Eastern States - Maybe they mean in "the wild" :D I wonder if someone has got ones that have escaped from various zoos and bred with them, 'cause with no importation, wouldn't that mean there would be an awfully small gene pool They seem to survive alright in South Perth though ;)
  2. Our BP&G sells fish - fish are pets too ('cept marron - they're for good eating) True, very true. Edited my first post just for you JoLu

  4. OMG You can see those squirrels not only running freely around the Perth Zoo, but the surrounding South Perth suburb. These squirrels were released in the grounds of the South Perth Zoo in 1898 and have gradually colonized an area of about 30 square km. Some animals have turned up away from South Perth, but all are thought to have been recaptured and destroyed. WA Ag Dept Sheet
  5. Yeah, here too Dinner is now "The D Word" or else I get crazy spinning dog dancers down the hallway :D Lulu knows the "names" for all her toys. The fav being "Shaun the Sheep" who I like to hide around the house and then get her to "Go find Shaun" - good rainy day activity :p My favourite Jonty one is his blankie. Now that the cooler weather is here, of an evening I'll ask him if he wants his blankie and he'll hop up and do his wiggle bum dance until I put his chilly dog coat/weatherbeater on - it's super cute
  6. My two didn't react much at all. Lulu used to get a little stressed, however I didn't hear a peep out of her when the thunder struck. She was tucked up safely in her crate though. I could feel Jonty snuggle up a little closer to me The cat however, did a flying supercat leap off the bed when the first big boom went
  7. Maybe in the grand scheme of things it's no big deal. But this website seems to have copied all it's info from other pages. Including its "About Us" section, which is the one area you would think they would personally write about themselves, their breeding program and their circumstances - copied word for word (with some very minor changes) from a GSD breeder in Richland, Missouri ETA - even one of the pictures in their "gallery" has been copied from a GSD breeder in Massachusetts
  8. Yeah, definitely something strange going on. As I said, if you google the mobile number you also get a Dobermann breeder in VIC and a Cocker Spaniel breeder in SA Although I suppose people can change breeds / mobile numbers Mobile also comes up as a Brisbane based photography business (which also has the same landline). Which isn't to say you can't breed dogs and be a professional photographer The weird thing about both the GSD and photography websites, is they don't seem to mention their names. Eg " Hi, we're Jack and Jill and we've been breeding GSD's/professional photographers etc. etc." They have the logo for QLD CCC but don't talk about being registered or showing or their lines etc.
  9. Jonty will have a quick howl when he can't find me - it is the same length (approx. 30secs) every time, and always follows the same rhythm - pitch progression. It starts with wimper, then howl, howl, howl and ends in a series of barks. He doesn't bark usually, preferring to do a low warning growl instead. Lu is a barker, but will now join in with Jonty with his "Where have you gone mummy" howl. Jonty also does a strange one, where he will wake up and start howling. I have no idea what has triggered it, but he is more likely to do it when it is nearing a full moon . Neither howl at the moon, or at sirens (that I can hear anyway ).
  10. Is that the "About Us" section, where they just changed the size and location of the property Concerned that they deleted the bit about hip x-rays though (they copied everything else ).
  11. Is it the one in "Brisbane" . If so even images have been copied from elsewhere. Interesting to google the mobile number also
  12. No particular order: Rhodesian Ridgeback (currently own one) Great Dane Giant Schnauzer Boerboel Bloodhound Malinois Dobermann (have owned in the past) Hungarian Vizsla West Highland White Terrier ) Australian Terrier ) my downsizing dawgs :D
  13. Another x-trail owner here I love it. Easy to drive and keep clean. Easily fits the Ridgeback and the GSD x in the boot (and I reckon another could probably squeeze in there ). Thinking of going a Navarra next though.
  14. There is some info and a map (couple of years old) here: 1080 bait map WA May help
  15. Jonty has always had a thing for standing between my legs So I turned it into "under" and he will run between my legs - this is pretty much is only trick. Works best when I have heels on, can go bad when he forgets to put his head down ;) Don't know if it has much use - maybe I can teach him dancing Also my step-sons trys it and as he is only ten Jonty just looks at him thinking "I ain't getting under there" Lu is a little smarty pants. Her fav. at the moment is naming toys. She has a (Sherman?) Sheep but we have named it Shaun. So I ask her to find Shaun, she goes off and comes back with the poor toy by the neck (was by the ears but the fell off). She also knows "inside toy" and "outside toy" and gets told to take them inside/outside if she brings them into the wrong area (like she did last night with an outside toy she bought in full of ants). I'm sure there is a fancy behaviour/training name for this, but all I am doing is rewarding / encouraging behaviour I like If anyone knows, can they enlighten me??? If I understood it better maybe I'll get even more from my doggies
  16. I agree this should be pinned - very helpful - good job Can you please add Drontal and Popantel (Linky ) They seem to be popular wormers ;)
  17. Oooh, just the thread I need. We're tidying up the yard to put the house on the market and the dog yard is a little wiffy ;) The area is made up of limestone pavers and sand (was grass there - once . We're going to put some sort of stone/gravel mulch stuff where the grass was, but need something to keep the smell down from the dogs peeing in that area. Will urineFREE work for this??? Can I use it to scrub the pavers??? Jonty pees on them sometimes and they're a bit stained
  18. Wow we must've been lucky - no damage, my car was in the garage, hubbys car got dents from the hail - but it is a work car anyway and we kept our power on - a few flicks on / off and that was it. 'Course I haven't been out to our place in Chittering yet, so I hope our shed and water tank are still there This is going to put pressure on the building industry too I suppose
  19. Missing man has been found - he'd got stuck at work, and come home to find his building evacuated and his apartment full of mud Hope everyone who has damage is okay (and doggies are safe), but I think there will be a long wait for repairs. News just said Windscreens O'Brien are flying in 16 people to cope with the repairs. I'm so lucky I had the day off work - so are the doggies. We watched through the door whilst their beds were filled with hailstones. The water came from everywhere How about the footage of the library flooding at UWA - amazing
  20. Ooooooooooh Nekhbet - that looks really good :D . Can I ask how deep you buried it down??? Maybe this might be a cost effective solution for us to build a temporary dog yard I'm concerned though, how my city dogs will react to country temptations (rabbits, roos, foxes etc). Do you think it would be worth using ping string or similar to discourage them from "testing" (digging, climbing, banging against) the fence???? At the moment they are surrounded by colorbond, so no "visual" stimulants ;)
  21. Gilypoo, here are some places I've found when looking for dog runs. I haven't contacted them all (will get 'round to it eventually ): PERFECT PAWS Marshall Wilkinson 1 crufts way CANNING VALE 6155 Phone 08 94561836 Mobile 0407667767 They are distributors of NFS kennel panels. IF you ring them they can email you a price list and photo of the runs set-up. Pretty sure the lady said they breed mastiffs, so fairly heavy duty dogs being contained by these ;) Hutchwest: www.hutchwest.com The Temp Fence Shop: www.thetempfenceshop.com.au Then there are the PetSafe ones (but they look flimsy to me for some reason ): PetSafe Kennel runs
  22. ~JoLu~
