  1. Pugs should be a bit pudgy, whereas most vets will see a bit of flab and go omgfatgetitoff ... so yeh, in a way pugs shuold be judged differently to other dogs. When Lizzy's new owners took her to a vet they were told she was too fat at 8 kg and said to get 2 kg off her - 2 kgs less and she would be half dead!
  2. Depends what breed you're talking some don't/rarely have large litters. Also it's been said before that buyers often expect a cheaper price for an older dog but why? It's had more training and work put into it, they aren't worth any less then an 8 week old puppy. I have no problem with a price reduction done tactfully ie not WAS and NOW. But thats just my personal view. For heavens sake there could be any number of reasons why, if the Breeder screens the buyers who gives a toss. You are making a mountain out of a mole hill, or are very bored. I'm not the one getting upset here just giving an opinion and having a discussion. Cool your jets. And you have given your opinion several times already..
  3. I found this clip rather handy and it works.
  4. Get the prog test done asap, they may have seen 5 pups in the ultrasound but she may be absorbing them. Don't want to alarm you but what you have described sounds very familiar to me. If she is, she could have some or no puppies and those who are born may not be very responsive due to the lack of hormones. If your vet won't do a prog test find another one. Fingers crossed all goes well and your just a few dollars out of pocket.
  5. Has she been prog tested yet - if not I would be getting one done asap.
  6. Can't get over how quickly puppies grow..only 2 1/2 weeks old and they are getting so big already. This is the small boy who was born at only 88g.
  7. Congratulations - Glad everything went well, would have been a worry though.
  8. GL - love your pics, beautiful puppies. Congrats Piper, lovely chunky babies. My pups are 2 weeks old today, wormed and weighed and ribbons with colored snaps for ID. Boy 1 / Blue 288g Boy 2 / Burgundy 420g Boy 3 / Yellow 498g Boy 4 / Black 480g Girl 1 / Purple 394g Girl 2 / Green 496g
  9. Very sorry for the losses Fordogs, RIP little ones. Congratulations on the surviving puppies. Would love to see pics when you get a chance.
  10. With horses that usually means that the horse was weaned too young or weaned badly. Not necessarily.
  11. It seems your sense of right and wrong has become extremely warped if you're wishing ill on a dog. I wish a c-section on those poor puppy farm bitches too. I'd consider it a kinder option to be discarded early in life, even if it results in death, then to be bred and bred, until you can breed no more. If you saw a dog hit by a car, would you help it or ask for pedigree papers first? Hardly the same thing..
  12. I have only used ribbons in the past but these babies were way too small and it was too awkward so I waited, can't do my own nails but I thought I could do a few dots on moving targets...nope  Thought about painting their nails but had less chance of that happening I haven't been game enough to let them go longer than 2 hours day/night for a feed since they were so little, glad my lack of sleep has paid off so well :D
  13. Charli x Q puppies are 1 week old today :D Did a hack job of nail polish markings, squirmy little buggers. Should have waited until they went to sleep  . Boy 1 - 88g now 132g Boy 2 - 108g now 212g Boy 3 - 124g now 248g Boy 4 - 126g now 254g Girl 1 - 114g now 192g Girl 2 - 118g now 244g
  14. No one will ever wish the worst on the poor bloody bitch who was unfortunate to end up in a BYB home, but we can only hope that if they are breeding their dogs that they will do what ever it takes to look after them correctly and not just leave it all up to the dogs as so many people do. However every time I see this pic I do wish it on the BYB prick who bought a pug pup from me 3 yrs ago by deception and then some...
  15. Thanks gl - he is doing really well now.
  16. Last year I had a phone call from a bloke who own a purebred pug on limited papers who wanted to mate their dog with my bitch because they liked the look of her...and told me I can keep the pups and he only wanted 2 pups in return for the stud fee - was an interesting conversation and I assured him that I was not at all interested. He kept going on about how well bred his dog is (great bloodlines - but on limited papers) so I told him it could be THE best dog in the country but with out full registration his dog is absolutely no use to me. He sent me emails with pics of his dog even after I kept telling him I was not interested and I doubt he would find anyone who is - he asked about buying a bitch from my next litter and I told him I won't have one for ages and when I do they will be leaving desexed for this very reason. If this is how the average person thinks - we have a very long way to go about educating the general public.
  17. You probably won't be able to change their mind but ask them what they are prepared to give up while the pups are so tiny. Remind them that an em c section can cost over $2000, they could lose the bitch and or the pups. They will need to be with the bitch all the time if they want to make sure none are neglected or squashed and remind them that puppies need round the clock care and feeding every hour or 2 when small. Do they know what to look out for if something goes wrong, the trouble doesn't end once the pups are born - so many things can still go wrong. No use showing them vet bills because they won't believe them anyway - So on his thinking of making $200 per pup - say if she has 4 then he will get $800 for them but tell him to take out the expenses - possible c section, vaccinations, worming and microchipping and the extra food for mum and pups - also the amount of shit to clean up and extra washing.. ask him does he even know how much the basics will cost? Some people won't listen to reason and need to learn the hard way, if all goes well they will probably have a few more, nothing you can do about it. If it turns to shit they probably won't bother again.
  18. Love this pic taken today :D Kadbury, Pug babies can be fairly dark and will lighten up, looks like 3 will be light fawns and the other 3 either fawn or possibly apricots. Loving all the puppy pics :D
  19. Charli is a wonderful first time mum and has heaps of milk. The pups were all small 88g - 126g, the little boy has been slow to grow, luckily he only lost 6g after birth, he is a very strong pup, held his own and is now 104g - still way behind the others, as long as he has no further set backs he will catch up later on. The other 5 didn't drop weight after birth and are growing really well, all have fat tummies and are active babies. Thought I better add today's pic since we all love photos so much :D
  20. I gave up ages ago trying to find a company that does, no one will cover anything to do with pregnancy - wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to claim something back. Very interested if there is such a company though :D
  21. You can add me now that they are here :D 4 boys and 2 girls born yesterday all nice strong babies but they are small.
  22. Any idea who sells Nutri Drops? Have called about 4 vets and several pet shops in my area and no one stocks it, have sent Whelping supplies a message and waiting to hear back. I am in Narre Warren, Vic so any suggestions much appreciated, need it asap. never mind, tracked it down.
  23. If he is putting his arm over your fence then an electric tape along the top of it should be a nice surprise for him :D and if you run a couple along the fence line the dogs won't go near it either.
  24. I would expect this topic to be openly discussed as long as people own dogs - not every owner is dog savvy, not all dogs will respond the same and even owners who have had dogs their whole lives will still come across a dog that they don't know how to handle. Nothing In Life Is Free is a great motto and it works Good luck to the OP and I hope you find a good trainer to help.
