  1. This was taken a few years ago so I am not sure on what the packaging looks like for Dr B's Barf now. And the Big Dog Barf. If you want to save some time at feeding you can always stuff a chicken frame with selected meats/organs or homemade barf - mine love it.
  2. It's just for me, I work from home and don't promote my grooming or the sales of the Barf, most of my clients are very loyal and have been grooming for so long that many dogs are dying of old age, some people have bought new dogs and I have been doing those too but the barf side of it I think depends on price for some people. I hardly sold one pack at a time it was usually a box of 4 packs and I wouldn't see them for ages. I was ordering barf twice a month and lately I have only been ordering it every couple of months. I only had 3 people buying it lately and have told them where else to get it. My orders were usually around $700 each time getting the better deal. It's just easier for me to make up what I want for my own dogs now. I am thinking about selling my 6 basket ice cream freezer and just using the 2 x 150ltr freezers for the dogs now - will save on the power bill too without running the big freezer. I was selling them for $20 per pack and $22 for Roo and Turkey, have seen other places are around $5 more per pack than what I was. I actually enjoy making what I need for my dogs and saves me forking out so much at once. When the sales were good I did ok and it was paying for the cost of running the freezers, but it's not worth it any more.
  3. I have been feeding and selling Big Dog Barf for many years, they used to manufacture the Dr Billinghurst Barf before he changed companies, I am very happy with the product. I have just this month stopped ordering it in due to lack of sales, I will most likely re-order again later on but for now I am making it for my own dogs. Great product, great company who are easy to deal with. I am feeding Black Hawk and barf.
  4. I feel very sorry for your friend having gone through the same thing not once but twice! I hate the A/H Emergency Clinic with a passion but I brought home 2 healthy mothers each time so that was a bonus. I have paid $2100 (3 1/2yrs ago) for a Rottweiler who was 6 days premature, they wasted an hour before doing the surgery and would not go any further until I gave them the credit card up front - 8 delivered (one dead 2 died soon after delivery), 5 live - only 3 survived.. I swore black and blue that I would never get caught out again like that but I did, could not get hold of my reg vet so had to go back to the em clinic this time with a Pug - same story...money up front before they took her in, 3 delivered, 2 died soon after the delivery, one live and that was $2200 a year after the first one. They refused to let me stay. Both bitches are now spayed pets. Oh and when the Rottweiler was spayed years later the vet was horrified with the condition of her uterus - said he had never seen anything like it before and had he done the c section on her he would have been disgusted with himself, very difficult spay due to heaps of scarring. He said she would never have fallen pregnant again had we tried to breed with her after that c section - they must have butchered her. My regular vet was $1000 less than the A/H em clinic. Has been over 2 years since my last litter and I just hope for better luck later this year when I try again, if not I doubt I would have another litter.
  5. I have always had small and large dogs, over the years the combinations have been interesting but looks like I have settled with Rottweilers and Pugs. My first Pug used to sleep with the Rotties 24/7 but Charli is too annoying so I don't make the Rotties put up with her. Most people would cross the road when I was walking the Rottie on her own but laughed as they passed when I had the tiny Maltese with us - he was only 3.5kg  . This was a great combination.
  6. I just read this thread and could have written the outcome without reading it .
  7. I'd love an update in a few months on how your dog goes on it, i have a girl with pancreatitis and she is eating a ton of food and I cant get any weight on her, but if I change her diet it sends her into a horrible bad attack . I am too scared to try anything else but what she is on now , but maybe if another did ok on it with no effect I may try it I will probably forget to get back to you - but will update in here in a few months to let you know how he is going on the BH. I have ran out of Barf at the moment and they are all on BH and bones, chicken frames (not often) for Hamish and he is looking fantastic. I am pleased to say he is gaining weight already but I am feeding him lots more than the girls. I was terrified to try something else with him too so I know what mean, the information I got was they have a few dogs with pancreatitis on BH who are doing well so I thought why not, fingers crossed he will too. Glad I did and I suppose the big test is how he goes in a few months but for now he is processing everything well, no issues at all and has way too much energy to burn. Hamish has only had the one attack, I have played around with his diet a little bit and could have set him back twice, put him back on rabbit or turkey barf and he was fine. I have since decided that I have been pretty lucky so far when reading about other dogs with pancreatitis so thought it's best I find what he does well on and leave it alone. PM me if you would like so we can stay in touch.
  8. Hahahah I've got all of my FB stuff on lockdown so only friends would be able to see them. You should be able to see them already! :p .Oh - yes I can indeed - just went off to have a sneak peak - looking forward to little fluffy puppies :D
  9. I recently started feeding BH again to my dogs and am very happy with it, I have been a converted raw feeder for many years and I only use the holistic dry foods now and then. Hamish had pancreatitis Christmas last year and I have had trouble keeping the weight on him, he was ok while the weather was nice but needed to improve his condition with the cold weather. I contacted Dyzney and she was very helpful finding out the information for me about feeding BH to him. The girls seem to get fat just looking at food but Hamish has always needed that bit more to maintain his weight - since removing lamb bones from his daily menu keeping the weight on him was a loosing battle. He is already gaining weight since I added BH to his meals and as long as he can tolerate it I will keep him on it. I am sure the girls must hate him when they see what he gets compared to them  . Anyway - just wanted to say I am very happy with Black Hawk and as long as Hamish can keep eating it I will keep buying it. Thanks for everything Dyzney .
  10. It sure is a boombah belly, wonder what she will look like at 9 weeks !!! Shes struggling already, ohhhhhh except when food's involved :) ... Hahaha I was going to post pics of my girl but I can't find my photobucket password.. d'oh! she is huge compared to her last litter. Oooh yay, small bubbas! Good luck! Hey LOTG - load the pics on FB and "copy image location" for adding pics on DOL :D Congrats - I wanna see pics..
  11. Don't forget that you can freeze the goat's milk - stock up when you can :D . Good luck
  12. Plenty in Coles or try CapriLac
  13. A few years ago I was grooming a malt x bitch, I asked the owners how old her puppies were and they gave me a stupid look and said she hasn't got pups. I told them that she is feeding something, gave her boobs a squeeze, milk went everywhere and asked if they have a new pet.... the bitch was feeding their new kitten. Piper (Rottweiler) had milk when Lizzy (Pug) had her 1st litter, she fed the pug pups with their mother watching. Both bitches had a wonderful friendship, Lizzy grew up in the whelping box with Piper's puppies and they all got on great. I have a pic somewhere with piper feeding a pug pup. OP - beautiful pic of the mums and pups :D .
  14. How disappointing for you - the choice really is yours, however if you don't think you are able to take on the responsibility of a deaf dog then your better off returning him as soon as possible. Call the breeder now and let them know what the vet said - hope your don't have any problems if you decide to return him and they give you a full refund. Wonder how they didn't pick his deafness up, one of the first things most breeders do once the pups ears are opening is check for responses - clapping hands and making noises to see how they react. Good luck, let us know how you go.
  15. My singleton Pug is almost 2 years old time flies... I did as Liz said, just play lots with him and try to imitate the stimulation that other litter mates would do. I used toys and my hands to gently push, climb and shove off the boob/bottle and around the box. Your lucky the mum can feed the pup and take care of him - I would have loved that. Maverick was hand raised since his mother seemed confused after her em c section (Mav's boof head was stuck and his 2 litter mates died) and didn't show any interest in him and refused to feed him, she dried up soon after. Maverick has matured in to a stubborn shit of a dog - very independent, loving but a handful. I get regular threats that I will come home to find him in my backyard but haven't yet  . I almost lost Maverick when he had aspiration pneumonia at a couple of weeks old, it was a struggle to keep him alive and the 2 weeks of twice daily injections was a huge set back to his confidence and he eventually learned to trust others. I have hand raised lots of lambs, calves and a foal but the pug pup was the hardest of all, maybe I was too emotionally involved and because he was so sick, but I went grey quickly over Maverick.. Just enjoy your puppy but try not to spoil him too much :D.
  16. How can they ignore it when it is blatant rule breaking? No wonder there are so many doing the wrong thing. Gives ya the sh!ts - don't it??
  17. I have never had KC here when I have had pups but from what I have been told you have plenty to worry about with puppies. Call the vet asap and I wouldn't be letting the pups go until all the dogs in your home are over it. What a shame you didn't separate your escapees from the rest when they went back home - a lesson for all of us. KC is one of my big fears when I have pups, I won't do any grooming for the first few weeks and when I start taking bookings again I tell them I have pups and make sure that they are aware I need to take extra care when I have other dogs come to my home, the first thing I ask especially this time of year is "have any of the dogs been coughing or exposed to KC". A few weeks ago one of my grooming clients called me the day after I groomed her dog, he was coughing but not while he was here. He had KC and this was the only time I have been very thankful that I never had any other clients that week. So even though he brought KC in to my home/grooming shed none of my dogs got it - how lucky was I? Good luck and let us know how you go with your puppies
  18. Thanks Jed, have shared the link :D . Nice to get as much proof as I can when warning people about over vaccinating their pets.
  19. Just about to look through this thread but has anyone seen or able to keep an eye out for pug puppies in Broadmeadows Vic? They are from a bitch I bred 2 yrs ago, this is her 2nd litter, she was sold on limited rego with a desex contract. They will ready for sale any time from now on, I have been looking for ages and this is another place that they could be advertised on. Owner has lied about breeding her and told my lawyer that she has ran away last year - I know for fact that he has her and the pups are around 7 weeks old now.
  20. Ahh - yes the coated breed. I was chatting to a lady who was getting her Bernese mountain dog ready ages ago, she was lovely, dog so so sweet I could have rubbed my face in his coat. She had a smile and said it's easy to see I have short coated breeds...I almost died when I realized I had upset the luscious coat. NO harm done, she fixed the coat up and when she was finished with him she told he I could go for it now. . To the OP - that lady sounded snotty, you never touched her dog and had permission to touch the other dog - don't worry about it. As said above - easy to see the type of person you would want to buy a puppy from.
  21. I am all for desexing pets but I refuse to support compulsory desexing - this is not the answer and will not fix the problem. Responsible owners are not the problem - it's the irresponsible owners who will not be affected by it anyway - byb and puppy farmers!
  22. Yeah - I tried to explain that it takes months of planning to find a nice puppy - but he was just annoyed that no one is answering their phones today.. people like that are just too hard.
  23. Some bloke just called wanting a Pug. I told him I may be having a litter later in the year and I am considering early desexing. Asked him when is he looking to buy a pug - well bugger me he wants it TODAY!!! I just don't get it - what is it with people, why are they so bloody impossible to deal with. I have just had enough of stupid people...
  24. I stopped buying Dogs Life ages ago for much the same reasons as above. I got to the point of hating what I kept reading so I won't waste my money on it again.
