  1. Was I sick. Death would have been more appealing at that time. They took a urine sample as they had tried blood samples, ultrasounds etc. It a great weight loss diet I can tell you. Two weeks on antibotics the size of horse tablets which also give you similar sympthons so life is very "interesting" at present.
  2. Well I am the one who ended up with the infection and they picked it up the most unusual way from a urine sample. Even the department of health remarked on that. I never realised the cross question you went through where have you eaten out in the last month what did you have. Do you handle raw chicken, how do you prepare it. It turns out Sushi is now one of the main culprits. All I was worried about was if my dogs could catch if from me
  3. Blacklabador, Health issues at one stage the poor blighter was on 80% vegies to 20% meat. Now I can use very very low fat meats in a higher portion % as long as it is not chicken, lamb, pork or beef . Which leaves Turkey, Goat , Kangaroo and fish. Goat is now hard to come buy since the specialist butcher closed.
  4. ricey, I was told by the vet if I use the pet roo meat to add vegemite to is as the preservative added to it destroys the B vitamin group. I have given it o my dogs in little amounts and it seemed ok. I gave Godzy chicken yesterd (ok I dropped it and he stole it - talk about the white blur) and his allergy has really started up. I was thinking of using Kangaroo as the main meat now. Also noticed VIP has a "give a dog a bone " pack which is a chopped off piece of Kangaroo tail. I wonder if Ian Billinghurst knows as I think that is the name of his book. Thanks guys will keep on slowly adding it to their diet. Very much appreciate your input. Also as it is so lean and I cannot walk the dogs at present - the grass seeds are blooming - the low fat will help as well. Thanks
  5. I have just noticed when I go into pet or vet supplies areas and ask about Kangaroo meat products I am told they will have to order as the do not keep it in stock. The reason? A lot of people say it makes their dog sick. I would have though it would be the best meat for them low in fat, less chemicals pumped into them than say Chicken, lamb or beef. Does anyone feed this to their pets is their anything I should be careful of. It is part of their barf diet which is 60% vegies and 40% protein. Thanks for your help.
  6. hmmm Peanut butter sandwiches. Thank you Steve for reminding us again we do not have to be rocket scientists.
  7. Barf Patties, Look like large hamburger Patties made by Bigdog foods exactky to Ian Billinghurst's requirements you get 12 to a pack so it comes out to me for 50cents a dog. Very good pet or vet supply shops have them.
  8. Blast, Caviar, Mango, Avacado or Rockmelons are not on the list. My dogs greatest loves. Edited to say a vet nurse posted on a site about a lab dying after eating a snack pack of raisans. She wanted to warn people.
  9. I buy the barf patties as I have small dogs and they have ingredients that I cannot get like green tripe. You can get a variety Such as Kangaroo, chicken, lamb, beef, or combination I will not use the Vets all Natural as it is mainly grains you add to meat and my dogs cannot have grains. I do make my own sometimes but I do no think it is a good or I mix it with the patties.
  10. He has not been around cling wrap or plastic bags has he? Years ago we had a pup next door that had this problem they had to explore and they found a ball of cling wrap that was partiially obstucting but did not appear on the x-ray. Not trying to worry you but asking you to cast you mind back. I do hope this is all over for the poor tyke.
  11. So would I as soon as the vets is open I ring as they usually say "Hello Val" as they know who would ring at 9.01am. heres for the little fellow.
  12. Poor Middie you will keep us updated please.
  13. Rozzie, I am so very sorry for you. You have had such a bad trot lately. Enjoy Sofia while you can. For all of you.
  14. I think I read somewhere in one of those woman's magazine that it is in fact a myth. Thre is a special plaster you can buy to place on wounds from the chemist that is supposed to help with scarring however you could not put it on a furry dog.
  15. Titres is very expensive and my vet would be interest in doing it after I showed him this. When I have the cash I will have it done as they did not get their booster this year. NEW_VACCINATION_PROTOCOLS_by_Dr_Jean_Dodd.doc
  16. Rozzie, Lillie does the same thing and her skin is perfect she does have OCD so once she starts you have to distract her without it being obvious. However I work than heavens her front teeth are missing.
  17. Godzy who skin used to be on hot spot for the past few years until last summer and a change of diet had removed that problem. yesterday evening I came home and he is covered in red spots all over his body but he is not scratching it looks like it is heat rasch so I gave him anithistame tablets. It seems as my housemate was home he follwed him around and stayed with him in his hot room instead of the cool of the airconditioned room. Also rubbed on aleo vera and placed some in this liittle babies bath just incase he needs to cool down.
  18. Just been on the site Poodlefan and I could not find scissors. However they will be in Brisbane 5th March for groomers and they have weekend courses for people wishing to groom their own dogs. This looks like where I will be going for my hols next year. Would have never found it. Thank you
  19. Thank you Poodlefan for that Web site will look at it. Ohh they might also have some different hair colours for Lillie. Must go and have a look.
  20. Thanks for the advice about doing it with scissors. I am going to the hairdresser this weekend so will buy a pair as well. Even if I do not do all of him I will be definitely doing the belly between visits to the Groomer my Tibbie does not seem to feel the heat in fact can be found outside sunny herself in the height of summer I wonder if the very thick coat protests her. I did have a pair of Dr Harry clippers but was not game to use them.
  21. The summer cut for mine as below. Ask you boyfiiend to wear his heaviest winter coat outside for a half hour and ask him how he feels. My dog has a new lease of life after he is trimmed.
  22. I am now in full blown parnoia. bugger the ticks.
  23. Well owing to laziness I found something that put weight on Lillie (unfortunately all the others as well) Natures Gift dog food - mind you when you put the can in the fridge and it cools the amount of fat is scary She has started scratching and I wonder if it relates to the food so back to BARF.
  24. I know a few people say their dogs do not like them but mine love Greenies. As the last 3 vists to the vets all related to bones I will not be using them much again. The dentabones are good, as well you can also get large chunks of kangaroo tail in woollies supermarkets for $2.95 each and Godzilla my dog who can crunch a lamb shank cannot do the same with those. Turkey necks would be too big for your fellows but the bones are extra strong maybe cut them in half?
