  1. Our cats have free run of the house except the guest quarters which are out of bound for all animals and our toddler! When the dogs come inside they go to their indoor dog beds - no free roaming about the house for them and they sleep outside at night. The night before a show/trial the dog who's competing sleeps inside on a 3 seater leather lounge we've put in our room for that purpose - leather's so easy to clean! In winter our oldest dog sleeps inside as her back legs aren't the greatest in cold weather. She sleeps in our room - but that's usually dependant on where the cats allow her to sleep. The bed is a definate "out of bounds" for the dogs for us.
  2. Lol you cant buy an APBT from a registered breeder..... unfortunatly they are also illegal to breed.... I am aware of that and nowhere did I say they brought a pair of APBT! The dogs pictured look like the typical "pig dog" that is usually produced by ferals and bogans who live in that area.
  3. I think it's fantastic that the club is taking the feedback on board! Is there a rule on what runways have to be made out of - just curious? Even just a piece of carpet for the dog to be stacked on while being examined would be a great step.
  4. While I think this case appears to be a joke perhaps it might help discourage people from buying from BYB and unregistered breeders.
  5. Same here - Spray on coat till almost wet then work in with hand, brush and style! I also use either IOD Thicken (diluted w/water in spray bottle) or CC Thick N Thicker Gel when bathing - after almost 3/4 dry spray till almost wet again, work in and then finish drying till dog's 100% dry
  6. Agree 100% I live out of town now so don't walk dogs in town anymore but I use to loath walking my dogs in town because of irresponsible owners who had their dogs off lead and didn't have effective control of them. For that reason I use to carry an old dressage whip - I never had to use thank goodness. Yes the dog's lead broke but would it have broken if your dog had not rushed at it? Personally if I was the other dogs' owner I'd be reporting you for not having your dog under effective control, I'd expect you to pay your own vet bill and depending on the emotional damage and the possibility of having to call in a expert I may even expect you to pay for me having to take my dog to get over the mental damage done by the whole incident.
  7. Agree the floor is tricky. I agree, it'd be a great venue if something could be done about the floors - maybe the runway strips like you see the USA?
  8. Thanks for that Sway! A Bit blury but I think I read 39 Aussie Shepherds - Wow what a entry if my eyes aren't decieving me!
  9. I know it's probably right in front of my face - but where did you get the breed numbers from?
  10. I have been very lucky not to have seen the first two but my take on the following: Dogs biting another dogs - I've seen this not just in Vic but also in another State when I was showing over there - the owner didn't discpline their dog at all People running up the exhibitor in fronts ass - this shits me to tears if it's deliberate, no need for it at all! People letting there dogs pee on other peoples property - Yep had a fellow competitor let their dog pee on our gazebo bag many years ago - gross. Plus people who let their dogs pee on the ring poles - some poor bastard usually has to collect them at the end of the show and put them away. In regards to people setting up early it's a little frustrating when I get up at 3am to be at a show by 6am and all of the spots are taken ringside and usually a row back, however, if the clubs were to introduce a fee where (first in best dressed) you paid extra for a spot to be reserved I'd happily pay that!
  11. No, not everyone. No way known to man are they my 'kids', 'furkids' or 'furbabies'. They are my dogs. Kids is who I gave birth too. Ditto, I have a real beautiful child that I gave birth to! Although I am guilty of referring to the dogs as "puppies". I am guilty of calling The Hornet my little furry son
  12. Is it a decent sized shed or a small one? Just wondering how crowded it will be as I've never been before
  13. Wayrod is brilliant! Highly recommend :)
  14. Sometimes I really can't understand why they approve some prefix and reject other? We put in 5 and all 5 were rejected - yes one was similar to another kennel with Toy breed. The put in another 4 - searched the web and could not find any similar names IN THE WORLD and they got rejected too. Tried another 5 and got the 3rd. What a PIA to have you prefix withdrawn
  15. I'm not against co-ownership at all I just don't agree with unreasonable terms like charging full price for a dog but putting conditions on it! I think if you want to add restrictions then the price goes down.
  16. I agree........Where's the like button Me three. Sometimes people have trouble articulating exactly what they're trying to say as it appears the OP has. When I first looked at PB dogs after some of the "conditions" that were put on the table I almost walked away - the most distasteful was $2000 for a bitch who remain soley in the owners name for minimum of 4yrs and they had the privlidge of up to 3 litters while I raised, cared, titled (show) - this was not Aussies BTW! Initially it was a bit difficult to grasp that people wanted to charge full price and yet wanted to have litters back or unlimited studs!
  17. I thought it was only Bulla and KCC Park where no marking out night before applies?
  18. If the snake catcher in our region didn't take over and hour and a half to attend a call then I think the brown snake in our yard last year would have had the same happy ending. I hate the loss of life but when a snake was under my daughter's bedroom window and only 3 metres from the back it's just not good. We have, however, learned (we'd only brought they ppty a few months prior and old owners were tree huggers)and every sleeper, boulder, shrub and creeper has been removed and all leaf litter (that was over 1ft deep) was burned. We have 8 Guniea Fowl and at the bottom of the perimeter fences we have attached wood (covered in sump oil - got told it was good deterant, that the snakes would prefer a easier route). Touch wood we have not seen one single snake for the past two summers but our neighbours have had 2 in the last 4 weeks
  19. I think it's a fantastic idea from my POV as being from regional Victoria, generally for most shows, I have to leave by 4am at the latest to get there early enough to get a decent spot. Heck I'd be happy to pay for the privledge if spot got be pre-purchased.
  20. I really dislike that SA don't send out their numbers - Vic, ACT and NSW do - love how some NSW/ACT clubs will send out breed breakdowns with entries too! I really wish that more Victorian and SA clubs would offer online entries!
  21. After working 3 jobs at once to save to afford my investment property I think I have every right to say what potential tennants have in MY home. Personally I really like the idea of a pet bond but think it should be more in the vacinity of $1000-$2000 to cover potenital damages. We had a tenant who fell behind in her rent by the time she was evicted (so that used up the bond)and discovered she had 2 large dogs (which being nice - never again) which we said were fine to stay so long as she repaired any damaged done by them. When she moved out the dogs had done almost $2500 worth of damage I think if landlords are forced to accept tenants with animals then perhaps there may be a few less rental properties available.
  22. As a landlord myself I would say just be honest! We allow pets in all our properties (but don't advertise that we do on the listing) simply because we're animal owners ourselves, one of our properties was designed and landscaped with animal owners in mind both inside and out! We get the real estate to ask the potential tennants if they have pets even if they ticked "no" - if they change their answer and say yes then that's great no drama- if they still say no and I find down the track that they do have pets then there's a big problem - which usually results in them vacating in a month or two. Besides liars we have found the biggest issue we've had as far as damage goes is bloody indoor pot plants - people overwater them and spills on carpet and staining it.
