  1. Well I cannot believe it has been 12mths since you left us I have not stopped thinking of you the whole time,I wish things could have been different but you were in pain and it was for you I made the hardest decision of all. In the morning I dosed you up on pain killers and we did the things you loved but were not allowed to do for the past 6mths.. We went to the beach, you were allowed to run, you played ball and swam in the ocean I could see in your eyes you were in pain but you loved every minute we went home around 12 and you had a massive dinosaur bone and then at 12:30 I took you to work and held you till the end.... You were only with me for 6yrs..... I wish it were longer.... Love you my sweet girl, you were my heart dog... you will NEVER be forgotten Just before we took you to the beach.. Alisha 2yrs and you (2yrs ago) ..... she still talks about you...(before you started showing any signs of discomfort) You were the cuteset puppy :D FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS :D
  2. Sorry to hear that it was cancer :p Was hoping that I would be wrong, but the symptoms were exactly like the 4 cases we have seen recently, the first dog on the feldene is going extreamly well the other 3 have only just started treatment..... Hope Lucy is one of the ones that get the best results. All the best and have fun with her

    Eye Problem?

I see what you mean I would keep an eye on it today, if it is not bothering him and if it is no better by tomorrow take him to the vet...
  4. he's spoiled. And the reason nothing has come of it is because no one has pushed the point with the dog. If any of mine growled or barked back at me like that there would be a boot planted firmly in their butts be careful when you say 'ignore' does the dog get ignored as a punishment or does he think his behavior has gotten him a win? depends on the dog. Sometimes a dog has to be told, I have held puppies by the scruff/collar until they stop throwing their tanty (and then you slowly lift you hand and the little brats still doing his best 'i'm being murdered' impression) other times they get ignored and basic privilages removed just to show who's boss. I go by the 'behave or go without' rules. that is not fixing the issue that is burying your head in the sand. Sometimes they NEED a good scruff. You can't make exceptions for the dog, avoid things because puppy might throw a tantrum. YOU do what you want and if the dog doesnt like it, tough. Throw a tantrum? Great go for it because you will see it gets you nothing. Behave it gets you everything. Great post Nekhbet - I totally agree.
  5. so sorry for your loss run free at the bridge bella
  6. Just wanted to bump this up Ticks are out and about!! In the last week we have had 4 dogs in with ticks and 2 have died....... One dog yesterday had 6 paralysis ticks Please check your pets daily !!
  7. I highly reccomend Hills R/D My cat was 10kg and is now 6kg Only fed R/D 1/4 Cup twice daily..... would probably be the same amount for a chi ?
  8. I have used it as a flea rinse and straight to put directly on a tick, but then I always frontline once the dog is dry.. However I would not reccomend it as an ONLY method of tick control. Also if the dog gets wet you will need to re apply. Maybe try Permoxin it is a rinse and last 2 weeks. I use Frontline spray now on my dogs as I find it works better than the top spot and last 3 weeks and does not wash off if you use a natural shampoo like dermcare.
  9. They should be fine, I would just feed them as normal and keep a close eye on them today.
  10. My boy is on rimadyl daily and also fed HILLS J/D I have found major improvement since feeding the J/D.He has not started injections yet but that will come next.
  11. Give frontline top spot 2 days before arrival, you could also give proban tablets every 2nd day, 1 tab per 10kg while you are away they are safe to use in conjuction with frontline. You MUST still check your dog twice a day for ticks - nothing is 100% effective
  12. I would use frontline spray on a puppy, you must make sure the pup is covered all over(wet), you are better off using too much than not enough.
  13. Frontline plus top spot 2 days before arrival....... You could also give proban tablets every second day 1tab per 10kg whlie you are away it is safe to use with frontline. You MUST still check the dog everyday, twice a day as nothing is 100% effective.
  14. High peak is the warmer months, Sept through to March, but the little buggers can be an issue the whole year round. Look out especially after rain fall. Another tid bit to add is remember to avoid having your yard bushy. Trim back over grown areas, especially if your dogs like to hang out in those spots. Actually it really depends on where you live as to the higher peak times for paralysis tick,in our area ticks are around all year and are worst from march onwards they tend to die off a bit around sept/oct and its pretty quiet up until march again,in the last week we have had 4 cases. Also if it rains and then is humid the next day you can almost guarentee ticks being active.
  15. TICKS ARE ACTIVE !! we have had 3 cases of tick paralysis in the last week!! check your pets daily
  16. Just wondering if you live in a tick area? ticks are out in full force NOW!! vomiting is one of the signs of tick paralysis.....
