oh poor girl yes, but it was a canine tooth and the pulp was not exposed,I had her tooth capped rather than removed.If you would like details PM me.

wow I cannot believe some of the comments in this thread where exactly would some of you like your dogs put? It is the safest option for all involved to have the dogs in kennels or a crate/cage,or perhaps we sould just let all the dogs run free DA dogs included just so they don't feel left out. All dogs that go into a vets for surgery or x-rays will be sedated once taken out the back,the sedation can sometimes take up to 1hr to have full effect,it is much less stressfull for all involved. Its up to owners to teach their dogs how to behave in an acceptable manner,especially when the vets or vet nurses need to work with them,it would be much kinder to your dog to teach it to be quiet when confined and reward good behaviour at home,then the dogs would be happy when at the vets.I can tell you not one of my dogs bark when at the vets,even my DA dog is calm in the kennels/cages and does not have a go at anyone. Remember they are your DOGS not children. ok donning the suit now.

Where I work we start heartworm treatment at 12weeks of age,this goes for proheart injection aswell as heartguard/other tablets. If you end up using one change them every 6 weeks and remove if they go for a swim ,also if your dogs swim they will have no protection after swimming for around 2-3 days. They are a bit smelly and personally I would prefer preventic collars.

A nervous dog should never be patted or picked up while in that state of mind.It should be ignored totally and not be allowed to "hide".It should be rewarded whenever it is sitting calmly or lying down. I would never allow any child to pat a nervous dog IMO its too unpredictable and by pulling it towards the'scary' thing will make it worse. It would have been better for the child to sit down calmly and not talk,touch or look at the dog but allow the dog to go up and have a sniff then be rewarded for good behaviour. With the lunging and snapping the owner should have told the dog to sit or given it something to do,If it was my dog I would have said "HEY" to get their attention, along with a quick 'check' of the lead, then told the dog to sit and rewarded for sitting. This dog would probably be much better when the owners are not around,but remember the same as above would apply do not talk too or make a fuss if it is acting nervous wait for it to come to you. If this dog tries to scramble up legs the person who it is doing it too should not take any notice of it,you can walk toward the dog which makes you claim the area and the dog has to move away,once the dog sits or lies down it can then get a pat. It will be his teeth,you need to have them cleaned - The problem with teeth is if they are bad it can lead to worse heart problems when bacteria from the teeth travels into a pet's bloodstream, the lungs, heart, kidneys, liver and nervous system can be affected. It can cause serious organ damage and even death. You would be better to risk the surgery than not do it. Just make sure you have full bloods done before the dental. We regurlary do dentals on older dogs sometimes 3 a day and We have never had a problem :rolleyes: .We use a very safe GA called Isoflourane which allows the dogs to wake up quickly,we have several different monitors on aswell to be as safe as possible. Try to find a vet who is experienced in doing dentals on older dogs,and uses a proper dental machine,not just scrapes by hand. I had my 17 yr old dogs teeth cleaned and several removed, and she had a heart mumer.She was so much happier after the op but sadly had to be PTS at 18 as she went senile to a point that is was not fair to keep her for my own reasons.

Firstly if you have any other pets they must be treated too. I think in you situation you will do well if you get your dog onto PROGRAM it is a tablet admininsered with food once a month and what it does is make the fleas sterile - basically your dog becomes a walking environmental control,you should also spray her with Frontline spray every month or Permoxin once a week,to kill the adult fleas - eventually you will have no fleas provided you treat you dog year round.(DO NOT put permoxin on cats) PROGRAM does not kill adult fleas. Garlic does nothing to stop fleas. you will need to spray your house - KO tabs are great you can get them HERE

I would use Frontline Spray on pups, it will last 3weeks for ticks(seems to work better than top spot aswell).For a dog up to 5kg use 20 pumps. Proban and permoxin can be used on pups OVER 3mths of age. You can use frontline and permoxin in conjuction with each other.I personally do this. With proban the tick needs to feed to die and will still need to be removed.

Just bumping this up -Ticks are really bad again with cases coming in and a death already :rolleyes: Check your dogs daily - even if they are on Advantix or Frontline.

Your dog would have had 2 needles a C4 Vacc then the Kennel cough needle (C5)Because you had the kennel cough needle you need to have a booster for your dog to be covered for kennel cough otherwise it is not considered Vacc for kennels. If you had the intra-nasal C5 vacc you do not need a booster for 12mths.

Yep - I did not add oils to mine though so maybe that was why.......they do get bones and chicken wings / frames on alternate days so one day dry- next day bones

I have swapped my guys from hill's science diet,which was great but as I was moving became a little expensive when feeding 5 dogs. I NOW feed Great Barko HERE is the website and it has distributers listed. They love the food and their coats are just as good as on Hills.Only thing is don't feed too much or they get fat very quickly I did try coprice but found their coats went dry and harsh feeling.

It used to be that permoxin would break down in light hence the brown bottle, however it now does not which is why it is in a clear bottle. (must be a sight differance in formulation)
