Buy yourself a hula hoop and teach him to sit in it. You can work your way back to send him from a distance - this is the start of UD work and dog in the box. Have you taught him to hold a dumbbell yet - thats something else you can have fun with.
-
I started duration work with Soggy Bear tonight. I spent longer walking to the oval than I did actually training LOL.
-
Both! - When you are trying to walk multiple dogs a 5ft lead can get in one almighty tangle
-
24th June - same day as my mums
-
A 4ft lead is a bit long for me - but your dogs are shorter than mine - so I would say go for it.....but $90 Did you win lotto?
-
That would be exciting! Will you have Mr Grey by then or is that further off? He arrives the following week i think
-
You are a bad girl Mas1981 - you are lumping - lumping sets the dog up to fail - you need to repeat 10 times I must not lump, I must set the dog up to succeed. Translated - this means you are asking the dog to sit for too long and he is not ready for this yet...... Are you still yoyoing the time up and down or are you trying to get to the 1 minute for CCD? back to the drawing board.

My Favourite colour - but I already have a special green lead Hmm might have to sleep on it
-
I could bring Soggy Bear and we could make it a double birthday
-
LOL - back to the kennel area in Southern River

UM - This will make 6 for me - but soon I will be living with my mums two tollers too - Dekka, who is Scoota brother and the untrained feral Chevy who is Bean's brother. Makes life interesting and there is never a need for extra blankets with all the kids on the bed
-
Thanks Ness what are they feeding him - Stringy cheese I think. I have had 6 in the tollermobeel before - so there is plenty of room still (besides Lexi is only little so she only counts for 1/2) Great news about the stays Mas1981

I have to say a puppy isn't high on my want list right at this moment but sometimes things happen for a reason and you have to take opportunities that present themselves with both hands even if the timing stinks. Its been a BIG week, a new puppy and a new house. Think I should stop spending money now.....

Today I had to make a very important decision........ Which of 2 boys was going to be my new puppy and Ciders future husband . Decision has now been made - so in 4 weeks time my little man will arrive in Oz from Norway and have to spend 30- days in quarantine before he gets to meet the rest of the family. Yesterday he went to the vet for microchipping, vaccinating and vet checking. Have to laugh as I have been sent photos of the 5 pups causing complete chaos. Looking forward to getting my hands on him

Yes you will need to get Darcy remeasured as the high jump is set at the dogs height at its withers, and the broad is double this measurement. As for the stays - yep have done it all tried quietening them down, tried reving them up, tried going in cold turkey, tried doing sits before we go in. Usually I am so short of time - coming out of one ring and having to go straight into stays - its usually a matter of grabbing the dog and a handful of food and asking for a quick sit stay on the way to the ring is about all I can manage. Last trial I was last dog in, came out and had to find a handler for one of my other kids (thanks Debazzled), so it was a case of grabbing both kids + 2 handfuls of food and off we went. Lexi did stays for Bedazzled and she has never handled her before. At todays agility trial every time Lexi saw Bedazzled she wanted to take off and see her new bestest friend

BIG congratulations Amypie on the hedgehog win and your first and second JDX passes. As I said to you at lunch time - you will be in masters before you know it

Great work Kathq - and the best bit you survived and got to take the best dog home - well done So the plan this week for training is......
-
Yee har Millie - you handled her really well Rubystar - and I still can't believe that you weren't nervous. It was a beautiful round you should be mighty proud and to get such lovely comments from a judge who doesn't give them away lightly is the icing on the cake Well done mate

Multiple hand touches before rewarding. As you build the number up keep a watch for the increase in intensity and reward that
-
This puppy has been a L O N G time coming - just glad you weren't holding your breath ;) In the meantime you can keep playing with Soggybear or maybe Soggy's soon to be future husband ;)
-
Something to try - ask Mason for a hand touch and reward him with the tug. You then up the number of hand touches before rewarding him. Why do this - because you can take hand touches into an obedience ring and by pairing it with the tug he will expect that at some stage he will be rewarded with his favourite toy. OH and speaking from experience - I ordered this you beaut tug with rabbit fur from clean run. I showed it to Blaize and she went ballistic over it. A few minutes later the phone rang so I took the call outside, came back in 5 minutes later to find the tug in many many pieces! So don't leave it laying around.
