Anyone Know Approx Mri Cost?
WoofnHoof replied to WoofnHoof's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yeah just the normal vets at this stage, I'd say she'll head to the specialist if the meds don't have an effect. -
I totally agree with this. It's a bit like people who go to a week long farrier course and then charge to shoe horses, it devalues the long years of farrier training but doesn't significantly affect the good professional farriers who are well known for the quality of their work. Whoever pays an unqualified farrier is probably too cheap to pay a master farrier anyway. On the other hand from my perspective as someone who pesters anyone with a camera at shows and events ;) I appreciate the time and effort that professional photographers put into their work but I've been to so many events with NO photographers at all and so I'm really grateful for any photos professional or not and I'm happy to pay for either. It's not easy sitting around at events for hours trying to get photos of every combination so I'm happy to pay even if they are just 'practicing'. If there was an amateur at an event trying to sell or give away pics when there was a commissioned photographer on the grounds it would be poor form but if there is no photographer at the event then I see no problem with it. In fact I'd be quite distressed if I knew someone had taken pics of my horse and I wasn't offered them to buy or have, every event is a memory and it's nice to have pics especially as I'm usually on my own at events so don't have anyone to take pics for me.

Thanks everyone I'll let her know -
Hi everyone I tried searching but the search function hates me  My friend has a dog who's been a bit wobbly in his back end and generally unwell. The vet is guessing a brain tumor or a brain bleed, possible stroke. She has been given some meds for him and has been told that if he doesn't improve they'll be looking at an MRI to see what's going on. Has anyone had one done before? Just looking for a ballpark figure so it's not too much of a shock if it's needed, the dog will probably be referred to Brisbane if that helps. TIA

I don't know if they were signing up for a huge committment though because supposedly it was 5 months until the end of the world anyway, so the assumption then becomes that all us unbelievers and the soul-less animals would be dead in 5 months regardless. Either way I agree with Jo it really is quite difficult to feel sympathy when people hand over cash for such an unlikely event, I'm all for people having their beliefs and what not but fair dinkum you do have to shake your head if they really think Jesus is going to take them to heaven and leave their pets to fend for themselves...

Supposed to be 6pm tonight but there is some confusion about which timezone that applies to Something tells me the atheiests who signed up for petsitting duties will be laughing all the way to the bank

Yeah he's been in bed all morning so his eyes had dried out a bit, once he got outside with the dust and grass his eyes got weepy again, he's ok though Yeah EI that's Daisy
-
Couple more, I think I'm getting better at this (or at least less bad) I have blurry grass :D
-
Lol EI here's a couple of hooves for you One of Amber's she was standing on an old spring, I'm forever picking up junk out of the paddock the guy that used to own the place left a lot of crap laying around which over the years got buried so every now and again bits and pieces like this surface. You can see the ridges in her hoof from her founder are moving further down and healthy hoof is growing from the top, the farrier has put her shoes on back to front and squared off the toe to take pressure off the front of the foot and provide support on the heel. Daisy's hoof Some more close ups I probably should have wiped the crud off Amber's eye before this one lol

I don't think the 'deed not breed' thing is 100% effective because people know that breeds are different, people know that some traits are more potentially dangerous than others whether it's size, jaw strength, temperamental differences or difficulty of management. All breeds are not the same everyone knows that, trying to convince them any different is pointless, instead education should focus on the individual dog with the breed traits acknowledge and respected and incorporated into the management strategy.

Saw this on the EA news very cool!

We don't know whether the people in the group would or wouldn't be saddled with the dogs, that's the point I suppose. It would be a bit funny if they were saddled with the dogs I don't know whether I'd call these people incapable of making sound decisions, by that reasoning you'd have to argue that anyone who believes so strongly in what the bible says is incapable of making sound decisions.

That sucks, I had a heap of stuff planned for Saturday. It'd be nice if someone could tell the rest of us poor, slovenly heathens that the world is ending and we shouldn't make plans. Hopefully Bunnings employs enough sinners that their stores will be open on the Saturday. Seriously though.. as much as I appreciate poking fun at the extremist god bothers, actually tricking money out of them doesn't quite sit right with me. Even if it was entirely fake, it would still bother me. I don't know if it can be classed as tricking them though, if God or Jesus or whoever does happen to come on Saturday the athiests may have every intention of doing as they promised, they just don't believe it will happen. If the Christians all go to heaven and the athiests don't look after their pets then yes they would have been tricking them but if it doesn't happen anyway we have no way of knowing whether they would have or not. It's Schrodinger's cat all over again

Lol I'm going to try my first vid embedding for those who haven't seen it hope it works

Thanks Kirislin he doesn't dig or bury stuff much at all his nose has been like that for the past year or so the vet couldn't figure out what happened she just suggested a possible allergy it's been worrying me sometimes it's worse sometimes it's better but it's never been back to normal like it was when he was younger (he's 4 nearly 5 now). I've tried putting cream on it but he licks it straight off.

Does Anyone Feed Tongue To Their Dogs?

Have you looked into getting a travelling butcher to process your animals? Might be more cost effective too? There are a few up here they seem to do a good job. -

My chi has had one for a while, he's probably due for a checkup actually, vet just said to keep an eye on it he's 7 nearly 8 and the only noticeable difference is that he pants a little more when exerted than he used to. He did have a bout of pancreatitis last year that may or may not have been caused by it the vet couldn't really say. Long story short don't panic heaps of dogs have them mine isn't on meds yet and his was diagnosed about 2 years ago.
