  1. its Dyzney & Luffy who have made the generous offers. fifi
  2. with regard to finances, who here would have $1000 on hand over the festive season ? unless one had pet insurance, a credit card, or were financially comfortable, or like us - an account with our local vet because of long standing use and/or work for one. Most people try & budget week to week for pets, with a pet account being a luxury. fifi
  3. What a wonderful offer Dyzney :-)) fifi
  4. na, the spidey spraying has been done since Grover went to hospital, in case it was a redback, to prevent further bites or injestion ( ) I had a very similar reaction to a redback bite back in the early 80's. fifi
  5. It's been a year already Griff - that has gone so fast. For the beautiful Sinna... "May the longtime sun shine upon you All love surround you And the pure light within you Guide your way home" I'll raise a glass of nice red to her tonight Griffy, and to you - to have sweet memories of your girl. fifi
  6. I don't tube feed either. If a pup/litter I'm sitting or at work cannot take to a variety of teats / hole sizes offered for bottle feeding if needed, or respond quickly to a syringe teat, then I've found there is usually something wrong anyway. Its just my 'line in the sand' and I've very rarely not been able to get a pup/kitten/roo ect to take to the kind of teat its comfy with - if the neonate is healthy. Just hand raised a foster kitten, she HATED the teat and was being kept alive on a 1ml syringe used as a dropper. I found a tiny marsupial teat and put it on a 10ml syringe, enlarged the hole, and she went berserk !! fifi
  7. Oh shite Trish, The difficulty is wether to give antivenom - not knowing if it is snakebite. hopefully path will reveal his renal condition. love fifi
  8. Had a candle burning bright for Grover all night. Hoping for a good diagnosis today. hugs to you both, fifi
  9. Trish, sometimes there are tiny signs that don't add up to anything until something goes wrong. Vets never picked up Sox's congenital heart problem during routine health checks. We didnt know until the worst happened, and it was only then that little things we noticed over her short life made sense. I racked myself with guilt being a vet nurse & not noticing, but they were so subtle and varied that we had no idea. Sending all our love & healing thoughts fifi edited for clarity.
  10. Thinking of you, Steve & Grover here darlin' fifi xxxxxxxx
  11. Love it Ellz :-) sent it to breeder friends. very poignant. fifi
  12. How terribly sad for the breeder :-( And just flicking through the op's posts - all those questions could probably have been answered by your breeder if you'd bothered to keep in touch. You could have learned a lot from an experienced breeder / exhibitor. a good breeder & puppy purchaser relationship can be a wonderful mentoring process, it sounds like your breeder is interested in their pups - I can assure you not all breeders are as diligent. fifi eta: You were very lucky to get a dog on the full register if you are new to showing, and one of the lovely rewards for a breeder is to see their progeny in the ring - doing well & being loved by their owners. the BIG money you paid is the very least of a breeder's goals.
