  1. Yes but this is where different breeding and jobs come into effect. I can barely imagine a LSG like an OES having the go, go, go mentality of say a kelpie or BC for instance. I wouldn't call an OES dumb but merely a lot more placid/calm/easy-going. It's no different to my own two dogs. Zeus has THE MOST AMAZING memory I've ever seen in a dog. I try to play 'where's the ...' and hide things in the yard encouraging him to sniff the toys out. Instead, he remembers EVERYWHERE I've ever hidden the toys in the past (even from months ago) and checks those first. He's a beagle cross do you'd think good with the nose. Only to a certain extent as I've been trying to teach which hand has the treat and every single time he goes for the hand that last had the treat. Kirah, an Aussie (Terrier, the original 'Aussie' :p) is far better at the new game in that she finds the treat hand first go every time but she can't seek out a hidden toy if her life depended on it. So who's smarter than who? Kirah is a LOT more cunning and WIIFM than Zeus who is very eager to please. :)
  2. Hahaha! Some funny stories there! My favourite is definitely the immoral/incestuous dogs! I don't think I've been to the vet for anything silly but I'll post if I think of something!
  3. All I'm seeing is what gorgeous, healthy white teeth they all have!! :) Beautiful photos of beautiful dogs! I love seeing happy, smiley, goober faces!! :D
  4. I was thinking poor Ronin's ears with that high-pitched squealing!! He's got a lovely tenor tone happening there but I'm not sure about Caitlin's soprano. You might have to put a stop to that talent and maybe try her out in mime! *wink*
  5. Poor Luka! From his photo in your sig I never would've guessed he has severe fear issues -- he looks like such a happy, loveable goofball! Definitely keep an eye on him during the night and if anything worse happens then unfortunately he'll need to see the vet. Going on your photo though it does look a lot more like irritation because I've seen a similar redness with Zeus on really windy days when we've got lots of grit flying around. I hope he gets back to normal soon! I also feel your pain because Kirah always stands in the line of fire too when we're playing fetch. The amount of times I've nearly kicked or hit her in the face ... I've lost count! *eye roll*
  6. Sounds like it'll give NexGard a run for its money. I've only just switched from Advantix to NexGard this month and so far no ill effects *touches wood* 4 month protection from paralysis ticks would be fantastic!
  7. She's certainly got crazy puppy ears happening!! They're so cute just flapping around :) Poor Daisy isn't looking too impressed with her baby sister though!
  8. Ping is the cutest little puppy ever!! I just want to smoosh my face into his belly and blow raspberries on all those belly spots! ^_^
  9. I am so sorry for your loss. Kajtek was a stunning boy and I can completely understand why you fell in love with him.
  10. Yeah I'm so confused by all these joint products  I currently use Canine Rose Hip Vital but am trialling the Joint Guard chews instead. It's hard as my guys are young but do agility so I don't know if either are helpful. :/ I have just seen an ad for 4cyte and was wondering but now I'm hearing about Joint Performance too. Argh!! I just had a quick look at the JP website -- is it for horses only or do they have a dog version too?
  11. I know my brother takes Nexium for his severe oesophageal reflux and it seems to work. Don't know if this would be suitable for little Danny. I also wonder if maybe something like Mylanta or Gaviscon might help? Fingers crossed for some good news!
  12. Stressy I hope someone on here lives close by to join you on this; I'm too far down the Coast sadly. This is why I'm glad for my dog walking community. We're a group of strangers who've bonded over our love of dogs and talk about everything from the weather to politics etc. on the plus side, the regulars all have well mannered dogs too!!
  13. Went to see he ballet tonight and was pleasantly surprised to see a gorgeous black/white borzoi walk onto the stage. I squeed a bit inside!! ^_^ Anyone on the forums have an insight as to who this borzoi star would be?
  14. Can I just ask about getting an OES clipped? I'm just curious why people would buy one of these dogs and keep them clipped. It seems strange to me because I find their coat is part of their charm and appeal (to me personally) so I wouldn't dream of clipping one. I guess I see it as buying a Puli (for example) then having the corded coat cut off. I don't know. That's why I'm asking! :)
  15. As someone who trained in classical ballet for 25 years the dancing is pretty hard for me to watch technique wise but boy these videos are amazing!! I couldn't care that the dancing is far from perfect; they're beautiful to watch and put a smile on my face. Plus using an instrumental version of America's The Last Unicorn ... AWESOME!! The Newfie is just sooooo fluffy and I thoroughly enjoyed watching his/her coat bounce at every jump!
  16. We must've crossed paths that day MW as I was there watching the Salukis, Basenjis and Harriers too. They are a beautiful dog but I know little about them as well. I do have a foxhound in my sights though one day because I love their larger size.
  17. Sorry. I didn't see that you've already got Mutt Mats. I finally found the one I have in the back of my car -- I bought it from Pet Stock and have never seen them since. They're nicely padded too! http://www.ozdogbeds.com.au/superior-roll-up-pet-mat.html If that's not suitable, this site has some awesome bedding options to look through!
  18. These Mutt Mats from K9 Pro are pretty good too: http://www.k9pro.com.au/mutt-mats.html
  19. RIP dear girl!! http://www.illawarramercury.com.au/story/2976197/australian-war-hero-dog-sarbi-dies-aged-12/?cs=298
  20. Great thanks for that Sheena!! If you have an iPhone i use an App called iPet Care. It allows you to put things in like worming, vaccinations, fleas/insect and everything else and set what intervals they're to be given. Then it sends you reminders when something is due. It's pretty handy!!
  21. For those of you using Nexgard do you give it at the first of the month? I'm just wondering because my dogs get Interceptor on the 1st of each month so I'd hate to be overloading. Should I perhaps give it say the 14th of each month then continue with Interceptor on the 1st to spread the drugs out? Edit: I'm keen to try Nexgard because there's no worry about the weather then.
  22. If Ronin or Tigger ever go missing I'm going to suggest you try looking in China; they both seem highly determined to dig there in that first video!! I have often wondered why councils bother to grass dog parks! Top music choice on the second video too. Love seeing Tigger stalking Ronin who I could've sworn was going to be the first to make a move!!
  23. Loving the unicorn photo!! Very well timed photo! Ronin always seems to be playing in the dirt/mud -- I think you might have a part hippo there! ;)
