  1. They say dogs reflect their owners Your dogs must be sneaky cause you are No, not sneaky just very clever, except Zeph uses his power for evil not good
  2. BB scissors and keys to the padlocks are located on the table right next to the crates. And the dogs crates are next to a double glass door that goes out on to the front veranda, just in case the neighbours have to get them out when we are not there.
  3. I watched Zeph escape one day. On this occasion he used his head to push the side top out enough to unclasp the top clips and used the top of his head to push the roof up, therefore when the side pressure was released the top clips did not re-engage. He then used his teeth to pull the end in towards himself, moved backwards and laid the end down. Not a sound was made. He then went over to Dee's crate, used his nose to flip the door slides up, grabbed hold of them in his teeth and slide them across to break her out as well. All done without making a sound
  4. Tilly can you describe the dog clips and where to get them, as I too forget something to cut the ties when wanting to fold the crate up, and they are costing me a small fortune
  5. BB the worst bite I have ever had in my 13 years of training all breeds of dog was from a Jack Russel Terrier, sunk his teeth into my calf the full depth of his canines. Large chunk taken out, 24 stitches required. I have yet to see a Rotty rip an arm off. Yes, larger dogs are more powerful, but I have generally found that some smaller dogs have more attitude than the larger dogs. Therefore, I judge a dog on its behaviour towards me and mine, not on what the breed of dog it happens to be.
  6. Mine vocalise when they play with each other and Baylee even barks to encourage the two younger ones. When they play with other dogs, especially other breeds, they tend to play quietly and according to the play style of the other dogs. For example herding dogs like Kelpies and BCs it is nip and run to instigate chasey games, with Labs and bigger breeds it is mouthing and rolling around then zoomies. CWW puppy school is a great place for Emmy to learn the different play styles of other breeds. If the lady is concerned let Emmy play with the other dogs instead.
  7. Some dog owners need to be hit in the hip pocket a few times before they understand the concept of "responsible dog ownership" and no amount of talking to them by neighbours will achieve this. This thread is about irresponsible owners and lack of containment of dogs, not about breed bashing.
  8. Can I say that cable ties work brilliantly. Place two on each side of the ends and the door. Small lockwood padlocks also help. Just a little advice from the owner of another big headed escape artist who can morph into fluid matter.
  9. tianakaesha, thank you for getting involved and doing what the irresponsible owner should be doing, taking care of the community and the dog concerned. I hope that your daughter is OK as well as the injured dog. Chewy I would have loved to have been there. CFA ceremonies are so stiffling and stuffy. Would you believe that I have not even looked at my medal
  10. Glad I am not the only one that thought "Why is that important? Here we go again"
  11. Sending healing vibes to Fern Stay strong
  12. The Staffy X owner apparently has to pay the chihuahua owner compensation, he faces 26 different offences/fines, has to pay court costs, and only gets the dogs back once he has built a suitable enclosure/foxed the fencing to house the dogs properly. Still trying to find a link on the Seven news web site.
  13. Just heard on Channel 7 news that A magistrate ordered Hume City Council to return the dogs to the owner as it could not be proven which of the three dogs actually killed the chihuahuas. Trying to find a link
  14. CW Emmy is absolutely gorgeous. I am so glad that Charlie and Emmy have settled in nicely Enjoy their antics.
  15. Hamish is looking good Lisa Any stacked shots? It could be a combination of the improved diet but more likely the fact that he is maturing as well I would think.
  16. It was a great evening A huge congratulations to Steve, Anne and the others on the organisation and execution of the event. And it was an honour and pleasure to sit on Troy's table and finally meet the great man He is so laid back and unassuming. After Saturday night I hope he realises just how important his website is to dog owners. It was fantastic to be there to see Kate win her award :D You young lady. It was also great to put some faces to DOL names.

  23. OMG that looks like something Dee usually finds when we go walking in the bush One of the many joys of canine companionship
  24. I come to DOL as it opens up the world to me. Working from home can be socially isolating. I love the info re dogs and dog related subjects. If I need to know about anything current relating to dog happenings like news articles, proposed law changes, I come here. Traning advice - this is the place to come For a good laugh or cry I go to Off Topic (Dear....... :D ) To share photos and brags about the dogs with people who understand I come to DOL. To educate and be educated I come to DOL.
