  1. Hope this week has been good to you Jed, and that there have been more highlights than lowlights
  2. We Rotty owners call that "character" or "personality" :p Bosley is so enjoying her new life
  3. These clubs are part of the applicable organisation because they are members of Vic dogs but unless their dogs are purebredand on the ANKC registry the dogs are not exempt. If that is the case then none of the dogs registered as Associates for competition purposes and I would imagine many dogs that have joined the Companion Dog Club would be covered, as a lot of them are cross bred or neutered. I would think that Dogs Vic would be extremely stupid to exclude such a large membership base when formulating new laws, as they are actively encouraging membership in the Companion Dog Club
  4. I am pretty sure that any of the Obedience, Agility, Tracking, Herding etc clubs that are affiliated with Dogs Vic would be considered an "applicable association" as they are covered by Dogs Vic's insurance and must operate under Dogs Vic's Code of Practice. I have sent off an e-mail to Dogs Vic seeking clarification of the "exhibited the dog for show purposes" part of the proposed amendment. Will let you know when I hear something.
  5. I am wondering if this section also includes VCA/DOGS VIC/ANKC sanctioned events like obedience, agility, flyball, tracking, herding etc not just conformation showing and does "membership of an applicable association" mean VCA membership AND/OR membership of an obedience club, agility club, tracking club etc. This way "associate dogs" ie neutered and cross breed dogs would be covered. This part needs to be expanded upon to ensure clarity of the law. If this is not the case then only one of my dogs is exempt as the other two are not shown yet are VCA registered, but they compete in obedience and herding, with tracking to follow later. My interpretation of the above (bolded) is that if you have the council tag in your pocket then you are exempt from the fine.
  6. Glad I am not the only one who can see a foster failure happening here She is absolutely gorgeous
  7. Jed a huge welcome back to the DOL community. It is so great to see you hear. Thank you for sharing your beautiful tributes to Beth, Roxy and Paris. May you always gain comfort from the memories of all that they taught you, joy from all the things that they shared with you and strength from all the love and respect that they gave you. You are an incredibly brave, strong and resilient lady and I know that you will be home with the rest of your dogs very soon.
  8. Jed it is fantastic to hear that you have progressed a bit further and that you have gained some connection with the outside world I was devastated to hear of the loss of your gorgeous dogs and hope that the pain starts to ease with time. Take care and rest easy. Our thoughts for continued healing and peace are always with you.
  9. Just popping in to check that all is well with you Jed and the campers in the waiting room Thank you goldchow for the great update. It is greatly appreciated. Can you please tell Jed that she is most welcome to all the love and support that we can give and much more.
  10. Hi Jed just checking in to see that all is well with you and yours We continue to pray that each day is a little better than the last. Stay strong and heal in the love and peace that we send to you each day. EFS
  11. So very glad to read that each day brings a small improvement and that you are moving mostly forward Jane. Keep up your fighting spirit and draw lots of strength and healing from your loved ones and your DOL family
  12. I would have to say the 4 Paws & More experience is the best and well worth the 75 minute drive one way. Phillipa, Ian and the girls certainly view the dogs as the customers. There have been several occasions when I have dropped in for something and have been asked where are the dogs? Their range of food (fresh and dry), equipment and bedding is extensive. Their advice and knowledge is fantastic. Their customer service is brilliant to the point that the dogs will drop in front of the counter or behind it and refuse to go home.
  13. Just slipping in with some cosy bean bags and to catch up on the news. Also have some chocolate self saucing pudding and ice cream to go with the spag bol. Keep fighting Jane and healing in peace. We are all patiently waiting for you to join us again and sending you many positive healing vibes
  14. I would gladly love to contribute. I can hand sew, but know somebody that has a sewing machine.
  15. RIP Phoebe Another black and tan gone too soon Baifra it was not your fault. Some dogs have the most uncanny knack of getting themselves into trouble despite our best efforts.
  16. Absolutely fantastic news Keep resting and improving Jane. There are many here and in the real world patiently waiting to hear your humour and wisdom again.
  17. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A VERY SPECIAL LADY Julie have a fantastic birthday. A day filled with lots of love, laughter and special moments which you so deserve
  18. That is absolutely brilliant news Charlie and Emmy look stunning together in that photo. I am so glad that all is working out for you and yours CW EW
  19. Wendy I too cannot concentrate on my uni assignment. I have decided that bugger it, I am going to take the dogs to training tomorrow and herding on Sunday. Life with our furry four legged loved ones is too short to be wasted and unappreciated.
  20. The voice of reason, logic, calm and wisdom regarding many things dog has been dealt a severe blow. But I know that Jed will prevail and will be with us again as soon as possible. Jed will be sorely missed over the coming weeks from many DOL discussions, but I for one will miss her input into DOL discussions and will be thinking of her and hoping like hell that her passion for dogs and life will get her through and bring her back to us and more importantly her family and dogs. Keep fighting Jed as you have so many people behind you and wishing you well. All our prayers for a speedy recovery.
  21. Thank you Abigail I try very hard to ensure that my dogs are great members of society and a pleasure to be around for all people/animals. Obedience three times a week, walks, tracking and now herding. All activities that are suited to their individual personalities. I think the reason that people are so concerned about the haphazard naming of breeds involved in attacks is the fact that a lot of mis-identification occurs and certain breeds are unfairly accused. This then increases the negative perception that the general public has about the breeds and consequently the appeal of these dogs to irresponsible “bogan” owners. So it becomes a never ending vicious circle that is self perpetuating. I do not think that it is due to the owners of certain breeds being in denial about the capabilities of their breed. All responsible owners know full well what their dogs are capable of and the consequences of their dogs’ actions and they ensure that this situation never arises via proper socialisation, training, containment and stimulation. It is the actions, or more importantly the inactions, of a few that ruin all the good work that the majority do and unfortunately the media and public do not want to hear about the good things achieved by responsible owners of certain breeds.
  22. Strangely enough not a party pie, sausage roll or cake was stolen from a child's hand for the entire party Admittedly a few fingers were cleaned however And the beast sat faster than some of the children when the music stopped.
  23. They say dogs reflect their owners Your dogs must be sneaky cause you are No, not sneaky just very clever, except Zeph uses his power for evil not good
