  1. Tuffy toys also work really well Sorry cannot workout how to imbed the videos or turn it around But when all else fails just give them the toy box
  2. These are brilliant, but must only be played under supervision as the bloody dogs run off with the pieces  Oh and the smart ones also cheat
  3. Should have registered the dog with the council as this helps to show responsible pet ownership, not that the dog is just being looked after for a while. Unless the mircochip was sorted out, the dog would not have been able to be registered under a different name. The database is a combined one in NSW. Thanks Anne
  4. Should have registered the dog with the council as this helps to show responsible pet ownership, not that the dog is just being looked after for a while.
  5. Money of course. Mrs Deshonko needs to be hit where it hurts. And I am pretty sure that all her dogs have homing devices, so that when they escape or are let out by their new clueless owners, they go straight back to Deshonko Kennels. That way she never runs out of stock and makes a bloody fortune.
  6. Sadly, I got it too and I am not even 45 yet kinsella we need to talk, considering you know the secrets of Deshonko and have no problems with conflict of interest ;) I feel a successful lawsuit coming on...........
  7. Julie, please let me know the shortfall per book so that I can pay extra to contribute to the correct cost of the books. Pacers shuold not have to wear the extra costs as it was a fundraising exercise. Debbie
  8. No persephone no mention of ideal working temperature, and the bloody instruction manual has pages missing. Trying to find the ideal food is a nightmare as there was no puppy pack or information included. Just when you have good eating habits happening, they can stop for 4 days in a row with no warning. And don't get me started on the outsourced helpdesk. I am beginning to think that all Deshonko products are imported from China and re labelled for maximum profit
  9. Baylee and I did the Responsible Pet Ownership education program for 4 years until she retired due to old age. She loved it and so did the kids and teachers. She changed many people's perceptions about Rottweilers. Zephyr has just been accepted as a Pets as Therapy Dog through Dogs Victoria and I have no doubt that he will change people's ideas about the breed as well. Many people have written over the last couple of weeks that they are not willing to take their dogs out in public for their walks for fear of them being ceased by council rangers. I am of the firm belief that if responsible owners took their dogs out in public and showed people how well behaved they can be, that slowly by word of mouth people's attitudes would change. I have walked my dogs around this area for years, taken them to markets and town fairs, stopped and talked to people who wish to ask questions and slowly the community has gotten to know my dogs as well trained, well socialised, well behaved dogs who are not to be feared. They have also realised that it is not the breed of dog that is the problem, that it is the owner of the dog that determines if the dog is a problem. Some people we have not convinced, but with others we have been able to change their minds, to the point that when something happens they say that not all Rottweilers are killers because we know some of them and they are great dogs as they have responsible owners. This has happened through quiet and consistent education, not ranting and raving and coming across as a zealous owner. As they say, from little things big things grow, and word of mouth is so powerful. Just a thought and maybe a different approach. I know it takes a long time to get results, but it is a great way to reach the general public, because not much of the general public goes to organised dog events like shows and trials.
  10. I would like one of these in summer colours please, as I am not into weight training at the moment, and want it to carry the groceries home after we have been to the shops. This one that you sold me last year does not work well when the sun is out or in the heat, as all the ice cream and chocolate is melted before I get home It is a speedy model in winter time so the pie and chips, with salt and vinegar, are still nice and warm by the time we get back. Not pink though, as it just does not fit the image and will cause a bad public reaction. Need to include the model description
  11. Stolz contact Glenn on facebook. He will know and also be able to advise re behaviour assessment.

  13. OMG absolutely fantastic news. A brilliant outcome and a just reward for all the hard work that people have put in. I was so happy to be woken by OH at 5.30 to such a fantastic text message. Thanks heaps Nic. You are gold Huge hugs to Sam, Karen and Paul. Such a relief. CJ's litter mean even more now. And Meg absolutely brilliant suggestions for the litter names :D
  14. May karma be working with us and be looking out for the girls. I really hope that they are found very soon.
  15. OMG I so hope that who ever has them is looking after them. I also hope that all the attention will scare them into handing them into the vets or council so that they can go home where they belong. Keep up the pressure and the searching. Everything crossed here for a safe outcome.
  16. sumosmum contact Sam 0422 466 530. She owns the dogs and will no doubt be with Flaves.
  17. OMG I will never complain again about the dogs waiting until they are out of the shower to shake after a bath And I will be forever grateful for the fact that my chosen breed is wash and wear. That poor Cocker Spaniel. I would have freaked and then thrown up
  18. In the hands of Responsible Owners this is what would be reported in the news. :D Gardai were called yesterday to the Killarney All Breed Ch.Show to investigate an incident involving a Rottweiler dog and a 9 year old child. The Irish Kennel Club sanctions the event, held by the Killarney & District Canine Club annually. Thousands of exhibitors and spectators were in attendance. According to witnesses, a child was walking near the show rings unsupervised when she suddenly came face to face with the 110 lb Rottweiler dog. The child threw her arms around the dog’s neck, reports say, when the unthinkable happened. The dog began enthusiastically licking the girl’s face as his tail wagged briskly. “It was awful”, said one bystander, “there was nothing we could do. That dog was just giving that child every ounce of love he had and no one did a thing to stop it”. Another witness, who took video of the event, said “This happens all the time; I don’t know how it hasn’t made the news before now”. One spectator, who declined to be named, told reporters “The sounds were just heart wrenching, all that laughing and giggling. It made me smile so hard my face hurts. I plan to sue for pain and suffering”. The handler of the dog admits this is not the first time such an incident has occurred, and that the owners were “well aware of the stable, loving and patient temperament of this dog”. She further admitted that she would continue to permit the dog to act in this manner in the future. The owners were unavailable for comment. The five year old male Rottweiler apparently has a history of sudden, unanticipated acts of joy. The large, powerful dog has been sighted at a number of recent events happily greeting fanciers and families. “I don’t know why we are being singled out”, stated the handler, “I’ve seen dozens of other Rottweilers acting in the exact same way.” She went on to offer examples of similar incidents involving Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Rottweillers, Dobermanns, German Shepherds, and more. “If people just opened their eyes to the social side of these beautiful dogs, these incidents wouldn’t seem so random or surprising.” Rottweilers are a member of the FCI’s Group 2, a classification of dogs who are renowned for providing specialized services and tasks to their owners. The Rottweiler is considered to be one of the oldest dog breeds. Its origin goes back to Roman times. These dogs were kept as herder or driving dogs, and are said to be good-natured, placid in basic disposition and fond of children, very devoted, obedient, biddable and eager to work. His appearance is natural and rustic, his behaviour self-assured, steady and fearless. He reacts to his surroundings with great alertness. Gardai state that the handler, who was noticeably unrepentant, was cited for Reckless Entertainment. The Rottweiler dog was given roasted chicken treats and was not taken into custody.
  19. OMG sumosmum and Monty what a brilliant interview. :D You where calm, concise and got the points across beautifully, highlighting the confusion regarding the new laws with regard to cross breeds other than APBT and the unfairness of those laws on responsible dog owners. It was also great that you agreed with stricter penalties for moron dog owners. Oh and Monty is gorgeous. The LDH spokesperson is an idiot with no idea of the issues.
  20. I thought this was why you were avoiding Rotties and Dobes, which is a real shame as you would be an excellent owner of these breeds and you would be able to do the dogs justice and develop their full potential. I wish you all the best in your search
  21. More about how the Standard has been developed: Mr BARBER (Northern Metropolitan) — I thank the minister for the background. Are there any other groups with an interest in this matter that were consulted or needed to be consulted both in relation to the preparation of the standard for American pit bulls and also in terms of the mechanics of preparing, implementing and running this legislation — for example, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or any dog breeder groups and so forth? Hon. P. R. HALL (Minister for Higher Education and Skills) — In respect of consultation with other groups, I can advise Mr Barber that the persons involved in the consultation on the development of the standard — I do not know the actual names of the people — included an all-breeds judge, a veterinarian and an authorised officer of council. They represented their groups on the development of the standard. In terms of consultation groups, I have mentioned the Municipal Association of Victoria. That is the knowledge I possess at the moment as to the groups that have been consulted on aspects of this legislation. The advantage of having an approved standard means that that can be implemented once gazettal is planned. I just wanted to explain the difference in process there. The next point I want to make is in respect of the question of the development of the standard. When the Domestic Animals Amendment (Dangerous Dogs) Act 2010 was passed by the Parliament my understanding is that a working party was put in place at that time by the previous government with the aim of developing a standard that could be used by authorised officers of council to assess matters associated with these restricted breed-type dogs. Since that act came into being in 2010 a working party has been formed that has gone about the task of developing these standards. Following the 2010 legislative amendment the working party consisted of a veterinarian who previously participated in the then minister’s restricted dog breed panel and was on the executive of the Australian Veterinary Association. There was also a world-recognised all-breeds judge and there was an experienced authorised officer from a local council, so pretty much the same composition that the previous government had in place has been carried over to the finalisation of the standard that we now have applying to this piece of legislation.
  22. From the Hansard The standard or description that was identified in the previous contribution was developed with the consultation of an all-breeds judge, a veterinarian and an authorised officer of a local council. It provides a tool for the public and for council officers to use in assessing what type of dog can be declared as a pit bull. A working group developed the standard for assessing whether or not a dog might be of the pit bull type. The standard has been written in such a way that it will be the legal tool to assist the authorised officers of councils who can declare a dog to be of a restricted breed. There is no nationally recognised breed standard for American pit bull terriers, and they are the type of dog that council officers have had most difficulty in identifying. The working group therefore concentrated on written and pictorial standards for that breed. In relation to the right of review, if an officer declares a dog to be of a restricted breed, the owner has the right to appeal through the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal. The Department of Primary Industries has produced a toolkit to assist local government in the implementation of this legislation, and it has established a hotline.
  23. The other changes regarding introducing dog attack laws similar to the culpible driving laws will be submitted to parliment in a fortnight for passing.
