The fact you think your dog is being a jerk is very sad especially a 4 month old pup You have a very simple solution yet you wish to discipline the dog to make yourself feel better & prove your ideals will work. They may do down the track but at present it isn't working & you are setting up a big failure with wanting to do it your way & it will be the animals that suffer . Give the pup a break feed it separate & if you want a happy group that can eat & share train all the animals but this can take time . Your pup hasn't been taught that sharing is fine but its been taught that a cat can do what it wants & when it does something natural it gets its food taken away & most likely your body language displaying a frustration at the pup. Our dogs are also feed separate because we can monitor each dog & they can eat in a calm fashion . You can pay mega bucks for professional help but fairly certain all will say the obvious feed else where . Your cat is being rude, your pup is obviously getting fed up with it & your not addressing the signs except presuming its a jerk. Your pup is being very patient & its seems you don't appreciate it but unless you open your eyes to what is happening this could end badly & it wont be the dogs fault.

Things To Consider When Choosing A Second Dog?
Dogsfevr replied to kima's topic in General Dog Discussion
The OP has said they are looking at 2/3 yrs before getting another dog so the 10 months is irrelevant . The dog will be mature & no doubt they will have a better idea of what will suit then or not suit as it does mature -
Just use an agent ,not worth the hassle of stuffing around & vets in Canada will be easy unless they live out in the sticks . Pick which station you want although i would go Vic,NSW then WA

You wish to build & own?? I own boarding kennels & as much as i love my career i would never do it again. One of the most thankless jobs around . We have wonderful clients though with a few bad apples occasionally . You have no real life & its your life 24/7 365 days of the year & your always forkig out money

I never use the guides . I feed by the look of each dog & what they look like,if a tad fat reduce if a tad skinny increase & then take into account any add on foods -

I show pointers & find there not into rough playing & often prefer to hang off there owners (ie stand on 2 legs) They can be very lazy & very active & very birdy, hate the cold . There are many dog shows in Victoria but if you pick a bigger one you will see Pointers in attendance & certainly many others breeds. I guess the main question is do you want a second dog that is like minded or a breed that is more soothing to what you have or 2 crazies ?? Sex wise we suggest the opposite & then a pup that ideally shows a nature that is what you are after to what you currently have . Ie if your male is dominant then you don't want to like minded animals . -
I'm Friends With The Judge (or I Am Paying Them)...

Grooming doesn't mean a coated breed either . Many lesser coated breeds are presented in poor condition ,it amazes me how many people don't even bother washing there dog because in there "mind" its clean Conditioning of dogs plays a part too. Showing is a complete package from handling to show conditioning . I have a coated breed & enjoy tissing them up after all its a dog show not a pet show & i would expect a higher level of coat care in the ring than -
Yes i have had dog that was vaccinated with KC & would get a non contagious cough each time . No longer vaccinate for that aspect anymore & no cough

We tell our puppy buyers that the males are more often more loving than the females . Bonding i am not a fan of this word because a dog can only enjoy the type of ownership it is given . How it bonds depends more on the owners & there expectations of any dog they own . Natures within the colours can vary as well Mini puppies aren't hard to come buy sadly they have become to popular with lots of BYB breeders & sold via pet shops . Last saturday was the Schnauzer Club of Victoria champ show so you missed a good one there but Vic has plenty of good breeders but you generally need to put your name down & wait .

It doesn't mean he will be aggressive at all but for me its not behaviour we would encourage & if he does it with this toy only then we would remove it.

Never ever had any of our pups go hump toys & if we did we would remove it . Even with our litters we haven't had pups hump each other & our adults only do it when the girls are in heat otherwise no humping here & not something we would encourage or allow.

WA laws are still so old fashioned its laughable I have owned Greys & i would trust them more than any other breed

Our choice is slim in Perth Tuckertime is the stand out in the East you have many options

Very hot ,not sure how easy to wash away urine smell.weeds still grow through the edges so not an totally easy peasy. It may be a frea thing but am aware of a few people who had issues mating bitches & conceiving & bitches that had pups with health issues after they had false turf put in. One of the dogs we breed that uses a doggy day care ,they have put false turf in & he now has orange feet & itchy was fine before hand they have had to stop taking him

Could simply be what the dog is being feed isn't filling enough. I now its harder with Dallies with issues but maybe look at other options ,if he put weight on with those 2 foods he can't have it might be fair to say what your feeding isn't enough to keep Gus happy & content. The porridge could be a great filler in his case
