  1. Yes it can change some dogs & people need to be aware of this. For some they stay the same others can mark more( pee up things) ,be more macho around other males (if the frequent dog parks & the likes ) We have had some stud dogs whose attitude adjustment wasn't fun but we can cater for it,we have others that are just the same delightful male they where before. The ones who changed the most had that attitude a tad more prior to matings . But i guess the first question is is the male health tested & what is the hop for him being used at stud . As she owns the male generally you are the stud master as well
  2. I think the first thing you need to remember is she will be boistrous,it is her age & she entitled to be a pup so maybe managing the older dog for time out & the kids would be a good option as well. I think the first question you need to ask is why she has never been thrilled with walking . Is it due to not been lead trained, walking to far & expecting to much on walks, does the other dog react to her on the walks & maybe feels overwhelmed by to much happening in such a short time frame especially if the pup has built a trust in its owners . When i walk my large breeds at this age it about life experience & seeing the world & the back yard is for boisterous free running . You wont tire the pup out by walking & i am a firm believer of allowing pup behavior but also teaching future behavior . How old are the kids ??
  3. I don't see the European system any better ,there are dogs awarded titles over there that are far worse than any bad ones here . It just comes down to the wording is it quality & worthy of a ttitle answer is simple Yes/No
  4. I personally would go wire if putting 2 dogs in it even if its short trips. I have excellent ones but the added pressure on the sides when laying will most likely break it at some point & yes i have had my well trained dogs suddenly fall out the sides whilst laying after much use, easy to repair but adds up after awhile
  5. 60 would be fine the big one whilst large is way to heavy . I have used 2 in 20 yrs & even put the oz trail on it to cart across at some grounds as it was easier
  6. The hand trolley from bunnings up to 90 kg is similiar to what i use but got mine from Big W . I have had it for over 15 years & cart my crates/c pens on it every weekend plus all terrain
  7. Barking alot to a neighbour may be 10 mins . I agree don't jump on the SA bandwagon ,its used to describe all issues these days . Liek already mentioned you need to see what she is abrking at,how much barking she is doing & at what time frames. Does the neighbour go to the fence to tell pup off ?? Some what ifs . Does pup spend alone time outside when you home?? & if so what does she do . Pick a weekend & do a test run get dressed & do the whole leave & then walk home & sit somewhere quietly to see what happens,if it takes you a few hrs so be it . What activities do you do with pup during the week,is pup inside or when you go to work ??
  8. It doesn't just affect showing it affects any dog sports so if people move to this country with an import born after a set date they can not compete at all. Many breeders import dogs for new lines & the hope of showing them. No one will pay the cost of importing a pet to sit in the backyard so it means people will no longer import so no new lines as bringing in semem only is just as expensive & limits the breeding options. NZ dogs have been sent to Australia as a breed swap for many years & whilst here shown & titled this also applies to other events . We area country where obtaining new lines isn't as simple as Europe ,it costs a fortune to dod so & a small handful make that expensive sacrfirice to benefit others & the breed . Whilst people may not agree it now opens the door if passed for other bans or issues to become the norm & i think people who don't own docked breeds have no appreciation that there breeds may not be as safe as they think & will soon cry for support if things go worng. Many of the top dogs in this country have tails so no one has an issue with that but the issue is taking away the right of new dogs that enter this country in the future & what events can be done with them .
  9. Sounds perfectly normal.some pups accept straight away others scream like there being murdered . Puppy treats .toys, walking backwards & just sitting on the lawn holding the lead & allow pup to move at there pace. Through toy & allow pup to chase . Ours never have collars one except for lead training We train our pups from 6 weeks . Providing the collar is puppy friendly don't panic about the puppy tainty ,just make it fun they will walk & sometimes that gentle tug of encouragement .
  10. What where you feeding originally & what treats did you also give? Often its a case at looking what you where feeding & looking at some of the stand out culprits . BARF could be fine but he may for example get the runs due to chicken or beef issues .
  11. I have big dogs so don't use the trolley for them BUT i use my trolley all the time for carting the gear & using it at the show .I think they are one of the most must have items no matter what breed you have in making life easier
  12. Okay he is a question for those that have said they would stay no matter what ,what about family members or life partners that may be outside watching & in the worse case scenario watching you all burn to death (worse case) How ould you those people deal knowing the dogs where more important ?/ I am someone that would save my dogs at all costs but i also understand that may not be an option & i would have to decide what in life means more & the consequences
  13. Impossible to answer what you would do without any warning but given the greater majority of scenarios happen with prior warning then i would be ready to go there & then . We are prepared ,even with our kennels the trailers are always ready with loop leads in all bays ,loop leads on all doors, crates in the cars & we have options where to go to . It amazes me how many cat people for example don't own cat crates that live in higher risk areas. The best thing you can do to ensure maximum chances is to be prepared . We have helped a few friends over the years evacuate & they did 't have enough leads, leads where in another area etc etc,It made it so much harder & stressful than simply having all the items ready or easily accessible . I wold get my dogs out any means possible but i am also aware that in s mall instance i may have to makea decision that isn't pleasant
  14. I prefer wire to the soft crates & long time survival. I have both & all are trained but i do find the soft crates require fixing alot more . Size is up to you if crating will be a long term fixture & an item you will take away & use on other occasions then i prefer to go bigger for comfort . If its just for sleeping then you can look more true to size. Size comes down to your dog though there are some small dainty whippets out there & some monster s
  15. http://www.ankc.org.au/Regulations-1.aspx part 6 has a section on what breeds require testing before registration
  16. I haven't read all the posts but as someone who shows dogs & deals with public at venues like the Royal Shows i can simply say some of the worse people about claiming dogs are unclean are not Muslims . I & many others have heard & been told many things by simple Australians who have no excuse for acting so poorly . We board dogs with owners of many ethnic backgrounds & yes a number are Muslims & wonderful dog owners but we see all owners & bad apples come in all shapes, sizes & backgrounds
  17. I have breeds predisposed to blaot so we feed when its quite time but we have no set time . The kennels are feed during our closed time to minimize the bloat risk. I am not paranoid about bloat but take a common sense precaution approach but i don't restrict exercise before or after but i do restrict over the top playing
  18. Chances are you have encouraged the behavior as a pup & now the dog is bigger & braver its no longer fun. Many people make such a big deal when there pups because there cute & little. Has she had any form of obedience training yet ?? Its time to go back to basics & training your little one . When you return home ignore her & go straight outside as if your toilet training her. I do have one question ,you say she is bitten your arm,Is she jumping up & down or are you picking her up ??
  19. epi otic is useless & doesn't dry there ears . The only thing its good for is wounds & it isn't a product we would use for ear maintenance. If its getting moist ears then there is an issue. A good ear doesn't just get moist . We have used the Thornit powder with great success though
