The dog act & local council acts cover what is offleash ,sone local councils have more detail Here's an example on one Order of the Moreland City Council Section 26(2) Domestic Animals Act 1994 Dogs must be under effective control The owner of any dog must keep their dog in effective control by means of a chain, cord or leash held by the owner and attached to the dog while the dog is in any public place, other than designated off-leash areas. Designated off-leash areas A dog may be exercised off a chain, cord or leash in designated off-leash areas, subject to the following conditions: the owner must carry a chain, cord or leash sufficient to bring the dog under effective control if the dog behaves in a manner which threatens any person or animal the owner must remain in effective voice or hand control of the dog so as to be able to promptly bring the dog under effective control by placing the dog on a chain, cord or leash if that becomes necessary, and the owner must not allow the dog to attack, rush at or threaten any person or animal. Moreland City Council has off lead parks available. See the list of off-leash parks for dogs If a dog is not restrained by means of a chain, cord or leash in a designated off-leash area, the owner must bring the dog under effective control by means of a chain, cord or leash at all times when the dog is within: 15 metres of: any playground or children’s play equipment the principal location of an organised sporting or community event or festival the principal location of an organised public meeting, or a permanent barbecue or picnic area when in use. 1 metre of: a shared pathway (and at all times while on the shared pathway). The guidelines are your state dog laws . And common sense which is sadly lacking .

Dogs travel well & you have no quarantine at the other end providing you have meet the pet passport scheme. Have you started testing on the possibility ?? Pick your flights wisely & the dog will travel fine

3 All Breeds BIS

Why is his genes so special is the first question you need to ask yourself?? Do you plan to hip/elbow score & test for all the other issues ?? Not every dog is worthy of passing there genes on & your dog would have to tick all the boxes & testing for any decent breeder to wish to consider him. Your dog doesn't need a mating either . Your first port of call should be your breeder, they now there lines & also now what makes a Dobe worthy of being used at Stud over others(providing the breeder is an ethical one themselves) . Was the dog sold on main papers & in your name? Was the dog sold on a non breeding agreement ?? There is so many more things i could add

Best Grooming Tools For Japanese Spitz
Dogsfevr replied to majella60's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Slicker & comb is all you need. The biggest issue is how people use the tools, how often they use them &,how thoroughly they brush to the skin & whether they bath the dog with knots. You can use a rake but if there are knots you will still need to slicker/comb out first ,some knots can be removed with the rake but a bit of an over kill for a JS coat. Do you layer brush aswell. Where are the knots the worst ?? -

Was wondering if there is a varying temp between the varieties ?? I have seen some photos of the Japanese version & some look like Caanan dog crosses even Sibe crosses

I want one of the BOB prizes but not entered LOL

As a breeder i have no issues if people ask first BUT i think asking towards the ned of a general breed inquiry is better . Most who phone us Ask about the breed & we fill in the blanks, other breed info, health testing & we usually tell the price before people ask & what you get etc etc

dear god i thought i was going to read something horrific I don't now how many our dogs have killed over the years that also includes birds that happen to land in the yard .They come in the yard chances are they won't leave, often they will bark & alert us to something there but if where not here it may not leave May i suggest for starters you slap yourself roughly for having a dog offleash that in your own words isn't good at recall. Put the dog on a leash or long line & the issue will be solved & then do obedience classes to train the dog & yourself .

Nope .just wish they got frequent flyer points to pay there way

I think your getting OTT the top about the dog & it "belonging" to you . It sounds like this pup has adjusted very well to alot of major changes in its short life Dogs can't be brought by food but they can enjoy the company of people more than others for many reasons . If Penny is now being locked up more to simply achieve the "love me " more status you may still be very disappointed . There is alot of "my" in your posts so i gather your partner has nothing to do with the pup ?? It sounds like your trying to hard & trying to compete in a battle that doesn't really exist. Many of the pups we sell go to gran & grannies place in there puppy life until old enough to stay home or for some variety during the week but these dogs still adore there working owners .

Dont wear colours similar to her . Puppies will be puppies & its important they have character especially in a breed like yours,to many in the ring look very sour & there a plain breed & large & when dull & boring can make them unappealing. This breed isn't a show pong but you can certainly make them look like they want to be there so foster that excitement . Treats depends on what your using & whether your over using them . To many people just keep feeding treat after treat . Treats are there for special moments, shouldn't be used as a tease but not giving for simply doing nothing. You can use a squeaky for other times of gaining attention in moderation & not to affect other dogs. When pup is bored you need to take the slack & be the more interesting person & regain the control & interest of the pup. This could be done by teaching pup to catch the bait whilst waiting, playing with a toy or giving a cuddle, anything other than playing . Mine are always allowed to play BUT its on my terms . The attention span is short but the alos learn quickly what is allowed not allowed so if at handling class & you waiting in line & pup really switches off take pup out & do something different & return to spot. Some handling classes whilst teaching you what to do can also teach the pup to bored out of its brain from all the sitting about , The other thing is if pup has really switched off pup pup away & then wathc the class without dog which will also enable you to learn alot, watching others & what they do is just as important no matter what the breed is
