First thing would be to see what your council/state laws are. Each state is different & even in my home state each council has different requirements that kennels must meet I would think very long & hard before heading down this path.we run/own kennels but i wouldn't do it again . I love being in this field but its under appreciated & a 24/7 365 job

If the pup isn't show quality then i would suggest the breeder will say no. Nuetor class should still be about a quality dog not a pet dog . If you wish to show then i would suggest you need to inform the breeder now so they can advice what the options are. If they already have orders for show potential pups then chances are they will say no that is ofcourse providing there are enough bitches to go around in the first place . -

If the dogs poo really stinks then consider the diet
-
Vet check & you can also consider the diet ,some foods can make dogs very thirsty so drink alot means pee alot

You will get 2 passes . The chances you get a reply back in time that makes sense will be low ,you may be lucky . If you here nothing best beat is to buy passes from IGA. As for stuff you will have your bench ,size can vary some large some small. Spreading out isn't the easiest if you have neighbours, you can after 9am look for benches that may have more space though if you didn't nominate a spot. When it comes to the royal lest is better . I always take drinks because of the cost , i generally buy food but its just me,we use to do the lunch thing & breakkie thing but our group all decided its extra crap to cart in . My guys stay in there crates unless i feel they can have time out or if i shift there crate can sit on the bench ,normally i will just let them lay on there table close to the bench so people can't reach. If people ask to pat or look ligit i am happy to let them touch but i won;t get the dogs out if there sleeping or had enough especially if its a warm day the dogs really feel it inside . No one polices the on display thing people will touch all day if you let them & you need to be on the ball to those who have good intentions & those that wish to tease fairy floss fingers, toffee apples & the kids with there giant toys or things that wish to annoy the dog . You are lucky you will be first on before the public really arrive I do print a sign saying we are friendly but please ask before patting & found it to work very well. There is a rail between the bench & the dogs but some public feel there "special" & will move the rail . Plan on toilet breaks (human) There is a change room to the left as you head out to the exercise yard You collect your numbers or cat at the bench near the office which you will see easily. When you arrive you must turn to your right & on the board will be your bench number ,find your number & then go hunting for your bench, there are attendants there to help . You can either drive in the turn around area or just park & walk over but that is where the stuff you bring makes life easier. Often buying those pull along bags(the type the older ladies use for shopping $20 ) from red dot or similar are ideal even the kids can pull it along . At night you can drive in the pull around or walk over to the car park often its easier to walk over as the cue can be forever as some people are very slow at packing . .the trick is to go out early & get the car & be in the cue early . You can dress your bench up & make signs etc etc but again its all stuff to cart in. I do signs stating breed, name etc .i use to do the bench up but the novelty wears off after awhile The hole punch thing is pot luck & i will be honest i will refuse to do it , generally its a breed where the job can be shared around i will not do it if just me .it drives you crazy when you are benched next to someone that has it . I truly take the bare essentials & if there is an item i wish to take on the "just incase list" i will leave it in the car & get a stamp out if need be & that has yet to happen . You can place your gear under your bench, chairs can fit although if they have stuck you in s mall spot amongst people its harder . Don't take to many valuables & if you do hide them .thiefs like to do the rounds

Look at this option if it doesn't work out are you willing to hand puppy back ?? Are you able to deal with it not going to plan.

I wouldn't bother if your using a good comb that will do the job. You don't thin the under coat brushing removes the dead coat , Unless your Shih Tzu has a terribly crappy coat a good brush & comb is all you need .most Shih don't have stacks of under coat so its important make sure you won't brush it bold.

Buldogs make excellent pets BUT they area lot of dog in a smallpackage & people make the mistake of the Cute factor but they grow quickly & area powerful unit when untrained. We board alot of Bulldogs in all seasons & all are healthy ,happy dogs that live a normal life. We have also boarded Aussie Bulldogs of all shapes & sizes & many riddled with HD & other issues.Sadly the owners brought them under the assumption they are healthier because they believed the stories told by those who have no clue . All the Bulldogs we board are owned by people that work . But i guess the biggest factor to consider is how much you wish to pay for your next dog BB aren't cheap . I would certainly do a list of what you want/don't want or could live with if it was the right dog. Coat care Active inactive cuddly independent etc etc

Anyone now who got BOB Std Poodle it isn't listed like the other breeds
-
I wouldn't change anything nor would i give any foods that are different with her age & any other reason to feel insecure. Just go about it like its a normal day ,if she barks then deal with it. If you speak with your neighbours go around & explain what has happened & ask then to alert you if she is barking. You may find she reacts more to the being with you all week & then suddenly having nothing

I am hoping to do the last ET in Perth this weekend but given the forecast is 25 & it starts at 9am not sure whether i will or wont. So maybe it will be a wait till June next year thing unless the weather changes but given the next day is 28 chances are it will end up hotter

I am very confident in her, have been studying for years and when my last show bitches bite went wrong I studied even harder and waited so long for this litter. I have a friend that would show her but she only goes to about 3 shows a year (distance) another friend has a minor puppy bitch this year too so shes out. I am confident in her ability to beat other dogs and I am the most critical judge of her. I went in myself the other week and hated it. I'm not interested in showing at all but I want my girl to title or at least try to title her (or another bitch if she is not worthy or healthy at adulthood) before I consider any future breeding plans as ultimately, I want to create the ultimate American dobe and unfortunately there is noone in Australia breeding the type of dobe I like, the type of dobe that conforms, in my eyes, best to the standard (she is from NZ). Any way I admire people that do it themselves I just wish there were professional handlers.. what about if people cant run or are injured? is it just who you know? She definetely wouldnt embaress anyone thats for sure, the only thing embaressing about her is me... and it sucks. So why would you want to be a judge if your not interested in showing ?? You want to create the Ultimate American Dobe so as a judge which standard would you judge by?? The Kennel club which Austrlain uses or the AKC

I would have to be desperate to reach that stage .

I agree you don;t need a book ours go in the crate & thats it,no bribery, games or anything else. Get the crate out,put her bed in & let her see it during the day,if you want put a chew or similiar in there . Let her explore it & get a feel. I think you need to find a balance between wanting to do all things nice & positive & just using common sense . I find even with our pet owners there getting so confused with all the reading they do that raising a puppy is made into hard work .

Puppy Super Scared Of Groomer / Being Brushed.. :(
Dogsfevr replied to Everlilly's topic in Puppy Chat
Sounds like the groomer isn't experienced with dealing with pups when it comes to clipping . We start our own pups from 6 weeks, they are fully groomed when they go to there pet home at 8 weeks. Some will scream & perform like crazy people but with patience & time they settle. Never in all the years have we had to stop mid groom . Given the coat in the photo i think a groom at present was an over kill, the eye area could have been trimmed if anything. You need to brush on a bench with a non slip surface. We start by simply placing our pups on said surface ,standing them (there stacked early for the show ring) ,we run our hands over & then finish good pup.Do this daily until pup is content. We will at this time reward with food Then we introduce the brush (we start at 6 weeks) & the clippers. They are also blow dry with our Liberty stand dryer at 8 weeks . Many dogs will freak with the groomer BUT by the same token if pet owners don't intend to train correctly they actually make it worse for the groomer. We can tell the pups that if they snap get put down, that perform so are put down, scream & are put down. Most will say the pup screams like its being killed so we wont groom it . It is very easy to tell the pups that got it there way & the pups that had owners that put the time in & didn't let the pup win. The first ones often don't come to the groomer until 8 months & in a mess as the owners are to embarrassed or have been told by people there to young to go to a groomers & generally these people have no clue. A good groomer doesn't have to do a full trim they can just do feet, bum & face ,simple basics until coat is in a position that it needs grooming or you can discuss with owners the coat texture & the effort they wish to put in. We groom plenty of the cross yours is some have no real coat others are like fuzz balls that matt like crazy Yes pup is cute BUT what is cute now wont be for the next 15 yrs a dog that hates being brushed is everyones worst nightmare . The most important thing is to find a groomer that knows what there doing & how to handle young pups . We also never bribe any of our pups with food or toys & i have dogs that take hrs to groom & just under 2 hrs to blow dry. They love being groomed, can't wait to get on the table . As for brushes don't pander you need a combo comb & a soft slicker. Get puppy to stand up,start from the foot & brush upwards with the slicker first to fluff the coat & then use the comb upwards to. Pup will wiggle, may try & mouth or scream but don't give up.many pups learn very early that an academy award performance gets results. If you do stop feel the need to stop then do so but pup doesn't go on the floor until you feel its ready ,it musn't be rewarded for bad behaviour .
