Actually this should not be the case . The breeder is the one who gives you the schedule per there worming schedule.Dogs should not be on flea stuff if not required & again the breeder should be informing the new buyer of what they recommend after all if someone choices to breed its there knowledge they share with the new owners . Given both breeds can be prone to hypos especially Chi i do hope the breeder has openly discussed the signs to look out for & generally Chi breeders vacc when slightly older & place out when slightly older due to the there skull formation ,again hopefully something this breeder is aware of especially choicing to breed cross breed. The OP the questons you have asked your breeder should be telling you ,if they are off no help then i would not be buying a pup from them

If your interested in Irish Water Spaniels there is an excellent breeder in Adelaide who would certainly be able to talk about the breed. Soft Coats we have boarded a few and never had any issues with them ,yes there terriers but many excel in obedience

Pupppy vacs will vary on what the breeder has used ,cost can vary from realistic to over the top . We suggest to our puppy owners to get there puppy vet checked ,we know the pup is healthy but feel it's beneficial for the owners to get a check ,I have never taken a pup to the vet just so they can say hi ,the last place I want to hang around in Age can vary but nothing under 8 weeks placing out can be often between 8/10 weeks varying on the breed some maybe older again

WE encourage all our puppy buyers to get there new puppy vet checked within the first 48 hrs,vets are open 7 days a week so it should be something any new owner should do . AS to talking before getting a pet yeah right ,Some vets are some of the biggest puppy farmers out there,some vets support pet shops chains,some vets are totally clueless when it comes to breed knowledge being a vet doesn't equate to knowing pet ownership

Do you want a dog with coat that needs regular brushing and trips to the groomer or a wash n wear dog

Its cheaper to pay for help now than have to completely retrain an adult dog or you start to resent the dog ,this isn't the dogs fault & so far your having issues that aren't getting better .Often it can take one session for a good trainer to pin point what is going on or a good obedience club . The fact your pup wants to bite your hands when being brushed is an issue ,a dog of that age should not be ruling the brush time unless the tools you are using are not correct,the dog has knots & granted some dog don't have a good pain threshold ,not being brushed on a good neutral,non slip area & not respecting this is an important part of life ,a dog being brushed is for the next 12 or more years you need to address the issue quickly ,if the dog attends a groomer ask what the behaviour is like there as by this age it should have experienced being trimmed

There are no Lagottos enterede at the shows in Adelaide this weekend ,depending on what breeds you really want to see the breed numbers have been posted for those shows as to what breeds are entered

anything low shedding generally means grooming salon visits & additional yearly costs & brushing so it depends if that is something your wanting to do & how much extra you want to spend for grooming ,as a groomer i can tell you not everyone factors in the grooming expense so phone around & see what the going rate is ,yes you can do it yourself but buy the right gear from day 1 & get it done professionally for a year so its trained As to allergies low shedding doesn't guarantee no reaction & some can react to breeds considered minimal risk & not to others . I have to say i have seen the two sides to Lagottos too ,the good side is great the bad side enough to say don't get one so like mentioned research your breeder wisely if thats the breed you want . The problem with visiting a dogshow in this case is the other dogs around will set him off if there is an issue .Ideally in your case making the effort to visit a breeder would be better . There are numerous option ,not so many in the med to large range that are low shedding but a Portuguese water dog is an option . You have your Schnauzers,Soft Coated Wheaton ,Kerry Blue that are larger although alot depends on the the amount of training you want to do & ease of each breed fitting into your lifestyle

Not illegal,as for vaccinations depends what puppy vacs it had ,if it had those it is due for its adult vac at 15 months . The most important thing is the microchip and ideally the paperwork

Agree with Persephone you need to get the trainer sooner than later or join an obedience club . First step to remember is your pup isn't doing this deliberately & obviously doesn't understand its not allowed so there is some serious miscommunication happening ,you may be doing things unknowingly that is encouraging this behaviour so you need to seek someone who will teach you the right way to interact with your dog . 7 months dogs can still be mouthy & generally the ones that are is from taught behaviour as puppies that was encouraged for various reasons or unbeknown to the owners & is no longer fun or the pup is still confused as to what is expected . I disagree new or not you know when you commit to a sale ,sending a text message to say oops is just poor form as well as not making an effort to explain the process is again bad . My dogs are all co owned and the breeder has stud rights but this is not how you deal with a potential puppy owner especially after a sale

Never ever had to use the cone ,if the vet does a good job are dogs are back to normal that day certainly the next . I agree the cone will be a factor and the most likely went crazy with the clippers where the surgery is . Ditched the cone if possible ,you can buy an inflatable collar that is far better that stops the dog turning its head

No sane breeder allocates puppies at 5 weeks especially if planning to run on a pup. I would suggest moving on and finding a new breeder ,having a good breeder to support you is very important ,the relationship is gone now

I never growl back ,the fact she behaved would be more a case of respecting you being more firm i would go and buy a muzzle and put it on her whilst being groomed if she is predisposed to having a growl We use muzzles in the salon as do most groomers ,we actually find with patience and training they rarely need it but we don't stop grooming whilst they growl ,again if you do the dog will soon learn a growl results in a good reward ,no grooming ,the reason why most owners can't groom there dog . firm but fair handling ,dog needs guidance to what you want ,respect for each other and the groom will be pleasureable

I would suggest making feet touch training not a part of her grooming .If the dog will lay upside down on your lap then make the most of touching the feet ,if the dog is very happy to have you do this then it doesn't have a feet touch issue but a grooming issue If you are not serious & don't make the dog feel confident it will play up ,grooming is one area we stress to our clients has to be trained as even for a groomer a dog that is a nightmare has a higher risk of injury or groomers refusing to do it .There is no joy in battling a coated breed for 12 plus yrs & it doesn't get better without hard work & then no one wants to brush the dog & it goes down hill from there . Most go with the softly approach which is fine providing you are educating at the same time & the dogs we see highly food rewarded for grooming are the worse because owners don't reward at the right time & just reward full stop so the dog is being taught bad behaviour is correct as it is rewarded . Most groomers use a grooming arm although mine are taught to stand ,getting on the grooming table means quality touch time & this is taught from a baby on the table is cuddle time ,chill out time & they learn those values first & foremost ,brushing the top coats is all about pleasure & enjoyment & they learn straight away that being groomed is a high value pleasure . Plus it takes me many hrs to prep my dogs so i have no plans of it being a fight,hardwork & hard on the body . Karen you don't need an area just a non slip mat & benchtop ,fold up grooming tables are easy to fold away & makes grooming so much easier & don't wobble but for most dogs the couch is about a different quality time & people brush them whilst they lay down ,problem is they need to stand for a groomer so again a confusing behaviour is taught ,dogs taught to do both is fine .We can tell the dogs brushed on laps etc etc because we have to retrain them to stand & they often get overwhelmed by this until they learn its okay

If she is happy to be groomed with the lead then keep going ,don't pander and turn it into a bribe session . i have coated show dogs ,they are never given treats ,they learn very early about calm behaviour on the table .Reward for my dogs is touch time never food If your dog is good for the groomer ask them to show the technique they use . Keep in mind the tools you use can affect grooming so depending on what brush you are using that can make the dog not want to be brushed . Grooming here is only done on the table or designated groom spot that is the neutral spot for that job

I would consider a Bedlington or whippet but they are onleash dogs

What you need to factor is your new pup not only has to deal with your kids but there friends (which would need managing anyway which im sure you know ) 5kg is a BIG pap

Paps aren't low energy ,they are awesome at agility and dog sports real go getters and great kids dogs but I don't think this pup is the right fit for your kids

We get calls all the time from parents saying there under 5 want a dog and reality is they don't care whether they have a dog and there input into the dog is minimal so reality is do you want a dog right now especially when you say your busy and still teaching a toddler . Intelligience in any dog is all about the effort you put in ,what you need to decide is the type of temperament you want,the grooming requirements you want to deal with,inside/outside dog . Working from home comes with added training because your dog needs to learn you being home a lot isn't a given so you will need to put the hard work of training dog to be independent and able to cope when your not home or in its own area whilst you work . The breeds you have listed are all so very different and if your plan is to let the dog off leash then consider which breeds may be better suited Beagles whilst trainable are not the best offleash once they start setting , Go to a dog show and see the breeds ,see the sizes,the coat and the natures in public and do a list of things that are a must

Keep in mind there still needs to be some bulk as roo is so low in fat maintaining weight can become an issue.. Our first mini I had an attack after stealing some meat due to our mistake but we didn't change her diet greatly we just had to be aware off all treats and her daily intake

If the dog has already had attacks then they need to be very careful,fat is all the foods together . Minis are highly predisposed to it but issues only occur due to a crap diet or often having a party and the guests feeding it the fat of the food etc etc Lean meat aka roo is generally suggested and a veggie mix and a good dry can still be feed . There other lean meats but depends on how easy it is for them to source and how much they want to spend keeping in mind the vet bills are no cheap and a. Bad attack can kill the dog .
