  1. laudromat nearly all have a pet wash machines so we go there every few months for a super duper wash but cot protectors are great on dog beds although our dogs beds are baby cot mattresses with cot protectors so much easier .
  2. Yes the bowls being raised is important & often harder with other dogs in the home but they all learn. The baily chair can be very confronting for a dogs & place significant strain on the bag & legs
  3. Just because you feed black hawk doesnt mean its the right fit for your dog . The suggestion of the urinary diet for 2 weeks would be to see if any changes happen quite a normal path & cheaper path to suggest
  4. We have 2 clients with it & boarded 4 dogs with it . 1 client has it mild & the dog lives a wonderful quality life at present 3 yrs. Has to drink from a rabbit dripper & multi mealsDoesnt require meds Its litter mate we board has it extreme must be feed 3/4 meals ,eats in a stand up chair ,cant drink from a bowl must be from a rabbit dripper, puks nearly every breakfast ,had pneumonia numerous times, skinny as a rake .Requires 2 lots of meds to be given 30 mins before each meal . Cant have treats We will only board it for shorts stays ,can only eat prescribed food (they are on the groups & have a great vet but attempts at varying foods options havent worked well so the cans are there only option so $$$ wise they have a costly dog. Breeder did refund there purchase price & stop breeding . Dog doesnt live a great life in the scheme of things . Another client big dogs had to be feed in stand up feeder had terrible pneumonia so many times it finally passed from it . That dog lived a life of hell. Each one has to walked on harness only & finding one of those for each dog is not easy & daily adventures may not be what owners planned with issue ,treats & ensuring all humans follow the rules can be life n death basically ,,summer is a well planned exercise as risk of dehydration is a big as the water intake is a problem . Meals are watered to assist with drinking . The degree of it really makes a difference & if severe it is not a easy path for the dog or humans .
  5. The saying 2 company 3 is a crowd is very true, bad management & Pack management can go pear shape & the big question if it doesnt work out who goes? We are a multi dog household with seniors to younger & its not as simple as many think. The oldies have their needs & get more demanding in different ways in their senior years & pups need enrichment & life skills to learn independence & self confidence ,ensuring all age gaps have their needs meet is consuming when you add & often 3 dogs in the car is not able to be done . The dominant aspect may be a red flag & even though your bitch backs off it doesnt mean that will stay that way if a confident pup comes in . It can be done easily BUT the household has to be committed to the change in pack dynamics & needs during this time ,there is no point thinking everything will be great because there is always pros which are wonderful & the cons which are reality .
  6. Start simple train them by approaching the door but not opening ,teach them that being at the door doesnt mean open door .Sit .stay ,release & walk away from the door .
  7. Sadly a number of those ads are stolen photos & breeders have been involved & accused of being dodgy as people have noted ads with different prices or sellers but same photo on there website,ad etc. Its a sad state of affairs when good people have to deal with the dishonest
  8. We never put photos up,we dont put the cost up & we ask all people to contact us & discuss whether the dog in question is a suitable fit for the home . Do you really want to sell your dog This line would send red flags off for us & most likely say No .We dont just sell to appease the person enquiring .Its a living animal not a rock. Yes you do have to satisfy the breeder you are the right person & i would be alarmed at any that didnt ask questions & just wants to offload the dog . I have no idea if your a dog lover or how much knowledge you have on the breed .You could be a exporter, pet shop supplier ,dog fight ring animal buyer ,you could be a hoarder or someone who thinks its a right to just own a dog & it lives outside 24/7. We get plenty of people wanting our breed who say they have researched but have no idea they need hair cuts 6/8 weeks & its a life long expense to add to the yearly budget, As consumer law has it a breeder is selling a product & we have to make sure the buyer is the right fit ,fully aware etc etc . Over the years i have had plenty of fruitloops contact us for dogs ,our job is to make sure that special dog is going to a special home . Mind you over the years of advertising older dogs except for photos we have clearly outlined the best home fit, requirements & that if your home doesnt fit this is not the right dog for you & we still get people who contact us so either dont read the ad,dont care what is in the ad just want the dog .We have even mentioned no shipping & had every Tom ,Dick & Harry East contact us . I would never buy a dog without having a good chat to the person anyway i want to be asked questions & i want to ask questions ,i want the dog to go to its right home first off not be a circle of life of wrong homes . Photos are being used to often by scammers stealing them for websites & using in ads
  9. For me no i wouldnt bring in a pup but my reasons are different . The oldie has enjoyed a homelife that is simplistic & its norm for a long time ,it still has its fun when it can with its buddy . Make the most of enjoying the harmony . As for the younger dog this is a great time for you to step up & offer different enrichment & be the buddy . 3 dogs can work great or be a total disaster.
  10. Don't worry about muppets like Coneye ,you only have to read there post to see they have no clue or knowledge to give just a Rant of stupidity and suggesting if you get a dog like his the world will be perfect . No dog/breed is guaranteed which any dog savvy person knows.. Forums bring out the wonderful, weird, wacky. What I would suggest is video the pup interacting ,seeing things in motion can be very educational. If pup passes vet visit you truly need to decide and implement your plan . Whether that be rehoming, rescue or what ever that is your choice . And to be brutality honest the sooner the better . Belinda also if you go to settings you will see Ignore user ,just type that person name in & they arent your problem
  11. Besides the obvious vet visit & informing the breeder , it may also be a case of your home being the wrong fit for her & her earlier experiences of child frightening pup when asleep is still a big deal for the pup & pup not having the right tools put in place to cope or the trust in all the humans to give her the trust & confidences pup needs . It really does sound like your wrong home . Raising a child & raising a pup to have trust in a little person is work . I have noted you often say well not really that close or nothing really happened to start it but to a dog feeling vulnerable & the humans not watching or managing the moment & dog can only resort to certain options . It sounds like potentially pup is unsure how to cope ,deal with litlle people noise, mannerisms or manage situations & is resorting to an option that isnt going to work for your home as its currently being let down in expectations of how easy it should just adapt .
  12. I know many from smooth parents & the coat is like a box of chocolates . Some are longs some look half /half some bits of coat . Given yours has 2 Smooth parents i would imagine it will have minimal long hair but may look odd (not meaning to offend just not a long & not a Smooth )
  13. Your problem is your feeding so much what ever with no actual consideration of what is in each aspect. If chicken is a problem your are also feeding chicken in its dry food & very few a legit chicken free . Most dermo vets will generally do a 6 week strict diet to detox . For some they will suggest Crocidile prime roll or some off the other varieties off the prime single protein roll as some dogs digest processed food better than raw & its a very simple starting process for owners Raw beef is often a food that will overheat a dog . Seasonal weather can often require foods that are cooling like Goat. Roo is often a good choice for inflammed dogs but can also cause tummy troubles . But if diet related than the whole package needs to be looked at & that means no treats a strict detox . Is the dogs feet inflammed/yeasty??Often dogs with bad ears have bad feet & just transfer the issue back n forth . Are the dogs teeth good? I wouldnt trust a Pet barn staff member most promote there in house brand & very few sell what the vets may do unless they get it in a special order . If your not willing to pay $$ then you need to look at this more logically in doing a food diary of what everyone is giving it including treats & start very simple . Beef is one food we will rarely feed our dogs . Ear infections can also be a result of thyroid disease as can yeast issues . But at the end off the day for some dog ear infections are a forever thing & its just managing BUT its important to still see the vet as they can inform of inside ear damage ,so many do DIY help without knowing whats in the ear & like many things it can be trial & erro at finding the right product, regime or approach .
  14. And no one wants the dog punished aka rehomed or worse because the humans arent managing correctly this works both ways . You cant watch every minute & if your child is unable to not touch then you need to set up a safe zone for the dog & this will likely be required in the years to come as your child gets older . The walk part isnt a factor sleeping anything disturb gets annoyed,Humans will often tell someone with colourful language to bugger off & dogs react with there mouth . If your little one slapped your face whilst asleep you would not be happy so puppy needs the same consideration . Your better to manage this now with a safe zone than set the dog up to feel it needs to react
  15. I'm looking for someone who keeps the litter with the mother for 12 weeks rather than 8. If the above is a requirement in thinking the pup is better off with its mother longer then you will need to be more on top off what enrichment, training & independence training the breeder does. Are they lead training, exposing to car drives, teaching grooming skills ,how to enjoy there own company & being confidient thinkers on ther own (if being left with litter mates become more reliant on there company or as a source of confidence it can take longer to re adjust into your home ) Most bitches by 10 weeks have very little to do with there pups from 8 to 12 weeks its up to the breeder to ensure there covering very important life skills during this period if hanging on to them longer by choice or because a puppy owner thinks there better off .A mother will interact here & there those sharp teeth trying to drink doesnt equate to a happy mum so infact this is the age where human intervention is soo important . If the breeder is doing nothing then it will be more work for you . As this is a purebreed forum people wont have breeders to suggest
  16. One off our puppy buyers is a Big Wig Contract Lawyer & yes they are very enforceable .
  17. Breeders have been fighting legislation very hard, problem is pet owners do bugger all except support the concept off Stop Puppy farm bills which targets everyone & dont understand that the bill also affects aspects of pet ownership so infact many pet owners who complain about there pet owning rights dont care about the Govt aspects. It has been brought up on many forums about understanding any bill for its entirety & doing submissions but most dont think it applies to them . Most Govt bills will mean the puppy farms thrive as its a business & they will pay the requirements . Already in some States is mandatory spaying unless your a member of a certain org, have your vet to say its not in the best interest & prepared to pay the fees your local councils will charge . Basically what councils will deem is if you own an entire dog you will be treated as a breeder & have to meet the tick box requiremnts IF granted permission to have an entire dog
  18. Well if this is your reply as a wannabe breeder that god help us .I would imagine you will get lots of Nos based on attitude alone . And buy the way good breeders dont want your money ,they want a great home for the animal they have bred & are liable for for life and ensuring they are placing out there blood, sweat & tears to a home that will show it forever love & be an important family member . Selling puppies is not a business unless you plan to be a puppy farm that doesnt give a stuff . Selling puppies comes with a life time committment of care, respect & help. Selling on spay contracts has been norm for many years . With varying new govt rules WHAT you think your entitled to do may become a shock unless you meet the requirements. In this day & age the Govt will have more rights on what you have to do with your dog & what hoops you will have to jump through . A breeder is the seller of the goods & they can place restrictions on there pups whether it be limited, mains, spay, not for breeding & why a good breeder knows which animals at times should never ever be bred from or especially done so by people who think there dog they can do what ever which sends Scary red flags on the ethics of what they would bred with . DNA testing may return results that make a dog never ever suitable to be breed with . Just because it has reproduction bits doesnt mean it should ever be bred with . If your family where registered breeders than you should have more empathy in your post about selling living creatures
  19. I would suggest making sure you understand the pros/cons as should any person thinking there doing a favour housesitting a dog they have no knowledge about . Whilst the dog is in your care you are liable for any issues. You take on ownership during that time . So anyone house sitiing would need to be fully prepared to pay upfront vet bills especially after hr bills. As someone who operates a boarding kennel i can tell you without having signed documents that the dog is in your care that getting vet treatment is very difficult when you havent given authorization to the care giver to legally treat & having a contract for covering vet bills & making difficult decisions . House sitters that do it as a business generally have insurance coverage that covers there business which is a big deal if you decide to sue the care giver or the care giver decides to pursue there client . Keep in mind pet sitting is much more than i will look after your dog especially if not set up to safely house unknown dogs from fighting ,letting offleash if never trained to do so(liabilty) ,freaking out, jumping the fence ,house visitors who may not respect these unknown dogs in closing doors etc etc etc etc. Uninsured pet minders can open themselves up to an expensive cheap option
  20. Old age & restless ,quite normal but jumping up on a bed is a big deal for any old dog & can be a game changer off uncertainty for them when there normal is no longer normal. Arthritis, vision a couple attempts of failure can affect there confidience so yes they will annoyingly ask for help . Look at adding an access ramp up to your bed to allow more independance, offer a bed solution on the floor & reward & yes go to the vets
  21. Any breed that has some guarding instinct will require you to train it to know right from wrong , that doesnt equate to socializing it as a dog with a tendancy to be aloof wont want to meet every Tom,Dick & Harry thats not how they work . Some breeds due to there guarding aspect dont want to share with other dogs as you may want . I think you need to seriously decide what you really want from this dog & what will best fit into the already established household ,the humans in the house & there ability to control said dog & expectations & how much work you want to put in time ensuring its brain is stimulated well in job mode & pet mode .Guards dogs dont just laze around they need there outlet just as much . If you want guarding then you need to accept what comes with that & and if the GSD or Rotti intimidate you a dog in guard mode will probably freak you this will be important in your ability to control a dog . German wirehaired Pointers are good alert dogs & very loyal to there humans . The biggest factor is most crimes these days dont get fazed with dogs especially the routine dog that charges to the fence & can be wacked with a 4x2 or eat what is thrown to them to be baited . I had a GSD who was one off the few that actually did his guarding correctly & we had a dog handler from the Army who was scared off him because he worked correctly ,as he said a lost art to witness a dog safe guard itself & leave the human second guessing what its plan was .
  22. I groomed a BRT lovely dog with a very savvy owner who respected what he was. I have watched BRT at shows be feral whether breeding or lack off owner respect in setting up the dog for success i dont know . There coat is work even if you wish to keep it short it took me as a professional 3 hrs to do a pet length groom aka Beach length . A giant Schnauzer may be a more practical choice out off the 2 . A giant breed is only as fun as the effort put in , i have boarded a few Newfs & groomed them who are just trainwrecks that the owners cant enjoy as they never too k teaching them manners as pup seriously . I have over the years helped show Newfs & well trained are lovely but yes there size is a massive factor not only for home life even too the car one owns, they need regular brushing & the collect will collecet everything & anything in the bush . Bullmastiffs we have boarded & they have all been gems, lived a good age ,fit in there senior years & they where all family dogs . Loving breeds & what is reality is very easy to narrow down a breed doesnt want you as an owner because you love it ,the breed wants you as an owner because you respect it for all the pros/cons that come with them Strangely enough i would sooner walk into a yard witha Mastiff than a Rough Collie meet to many nippy ones & wouldnt trust them .
  23. There listed on the breeders list so just contact them yourself
  24. To be recognized by MDBA they had to change names for there foundation registry .
