  1. Very interesting. Had you been using Revolution or another spot on product that protects against scabies?
  2. Have the vets rules out Scabies or other types of mites or mange? Have you tried a diet that does not include processed food at all like a BARF or RAW diet?
  3. What exactly has Orijen have in it? Does it have kangaroo, duck, rabbit? These meats are to rich for some dogs.
  4. It's the Hep testing that bumps the price up as that gets sent overseas to Glasgow, Scotland. The others are done in the lab here.
  5. I have never herd of one of them they look weird! A LOT cheaper then the FURminatior's They are kind of like a hacksaw blade twisted into an oval shape with an handle attached. Pugs shed constantly and I have been through many different types of hair removal things but the shedding blade is what works best.
  6. I have had my vet make some enquires for me about Titer testing. He said that unless you get Parvo, Distemper and Hepatitis tested then you are leaving your dog open to risks. Lots of places only test for immunity level of Parvo and Distemper. Gribbles will do a Canine Antibodies Screen (Parvo, distemper & Hep) for approx $230 My vet would be happy to do the tests if anyone is having trouble convincing their vets to do so.
  7. Sounds like an allergic reaction to something. You could try giving him a Claratyne tablet (human antihistamine). If my lot get itchie that's what they get and it works a treat.
  8. What about a Shedding blade? Works great with the pugs.
  9. Can the pup go up and down the stairs itself? If so I would let it. By 12 weeks my foster pug pups, which would be much smaller then a staffy pup, were going up and down inside polish wooden steps by themselves. They also managed the back concrete steps from when they arrived at 7 and a bit weeks. If all else fails buy a baby gate.
  10. Maybe it's infected. Any chance he would wear a soft doggy shoe?
  11. Yes that might get more of a response. Then you could do a posting of the puppies asking people to guess who the daddy is.
  12. Winter and the cold air can bring it on also the heater or heating on in houses drys the air out so this can bring it on more then normal.
  13. Maybe give your vet or breeder a call and ask them if this is normal. Maybe something is going wrong. Maybe because it's her first heat it will be incomplete. Seems that the masses have gone quiet on this one for fear that your a BYB or something.
  14. They pugs do this. It can also be called 'Goose Honking' because that's what it wound like. I just make them breath through their mouths, by shoving my fingers in, and it usually stops it.
  15. Maybe baby gate him out of the areas that you don't want him in. You can get really tall baby gates.
  16. Probably best that your vet refers you to a doggy eye specalist to treat it. What state are you in?
  17. No have only ever seen a red or reddy brown colour with the pugs but saying that they have either come into rescue already on heat or have come on heat a day or two after coming into rescue.
  18. Most likey it is yet to come so you will have at least another three weeks of fun to come.
  19. If you are sure it's not a grass seed or something else in there it hopefully should heal up naturally. You could get some warm salty water and soak his foot in it for a while, then dry his foot off and put something like betadine on it. Licking might hinder it's healing so maybe you could put an elizabethan collar on him or wrap his foot up in something so he can't get to it.
  20. I'm not sure about what part of the cycle they are fertile in. But with the rescue pug bitches that I have had here that have been on heat it's basically been about 3 weeks of discarge so I have made sure that I haven't taken then out and about whilst they have still had discharge and still were swollen. The discarge with the pug bitches was always a red one at the start and then a more browny red at the end. Not sure about the clear/white/mucousy discharge you are talking about. Has she had any red discharge at all?
  21. Could be a psychological thing as well. Maybe doggy physio could hep?
  22. If I only have my two pugs my veggie slops will last them nearly two months. If I have a few extra pugs here then they will last a month. So basically for my own two dogs it takes me about 3 hours every two months to make up the veggie slops then maybe an hour or less to do the meats and bones once a month.
  23. The time is in the preperation but once that is done it is as easy as taking things out of the freezer to defrost. And the dogs will thank you for it.
